“Convenient and pleasant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Location: Really convenient location, even if the immediate neighbourhood around the hotel isn't pleasant, however we had no problems and didn't feel uncomfortable walking back to the hotel at 10 at night. It's opposite the Termini and less than 15 minutes walk to the Colosseum and The Forum, 30 minutes to the Trevi/spanish steps and the Vatican took around 40 minutes, however it is the opposite end of the city and there's always the metro.

Room: Room was pleasant, the cleaners did a great job, always clean towels and plenty of shower gel etc. The AC worked fine in our room too. Our room was the opposite side to the Termini so didn't have any issues with noise. However at the roof top pool (which is great in the summer) you could hear the train announcements, but it's not a major issue as we spent little time around there. Check out was easy and there was someone to take our bags to the luggage room. The receptionist said we could keep them there as long as we wanted, which was ideal as our flight was late in the evening and we were allowed to stay in the hotel public areas until our flight.

We did not find the area so threatening as some did. People of many races, but nobody bothered us. Easy access to much of Rome if you are coming by train. You are staying right near the station and also near another metro access on the other side of the hotel. The rooftop area is wonderful, nice fitness room, and our room was very clear. Yes, this is a hip modern hotel with clever but odd room layout--when it was new it was likely cutting edge. Less so now, but still fun. Still, for a central hotel we were fine with the boat theme (wooden floors, lookout decks) and the clever modern room.

We stayed here 4 nights on june 2014. Hotel is 2 min walk from train station but far from city centre. (about 30-40 min walk) Didnt like the area it was located (Chinatown). And were not happy about staff - one day cleaners forgot to leave clean towels, second day they didnt leave shampoo and shower gel. Hotel is old, electricity wasnt working 2 days from 4 we were staying. About positive - there is amazing swimming pool on the top of the hotel, breakfast was very good (the best I have had till now, even champagne!), girl at the reception allowed as not to pay for crisps we had from mini bar, room design was very modern (knowing that hotel is a bit old itself), our room had a balcony (great but view is terrible - inner yard of the hotel, windows from opposite rooms) We liked most of it but wouldnt pay that price for that room, location.

Room Tip: close to train station, super great swimming pool, great breakfast

Dear guest,
thank you for taking the time of this review.
I am sorry that you didn't like the area and apologize for the issue about the cleaning staff.
By the way, this hotel is 12 years hold and the rooms are just renovated.
If you will change your mind and would come again in our hotel, you are more than welcome.
Best regards

My now husband flew me to this hotel as a surprise and proposed to me in the restaurant by the pool. the setting was beautiful with an amazing view. The food was excellent. When I first arrived had a small problem with my room but they quickly sorted it and compensated us with a free meal. I would definitely stay here again as it was a great part of a great weekend.

This hotel looks great on the website but stay here was the worst ever (my husband and I are frequent private and business travelers and even a 2 star hotel is better than this).

We stayed here one night in June 2015 as a pass through from our wedding before departing with the train. We had chosen it due to near the train and the way it looked on the website.

The main issues leading to me not recommending this hotel for anyone:
-quality/service lack: the AC had broken in the afternoon but upon our arrival at 11pm the issue was neither solved nor had they staffed to facilitate all the people complaining and seeking help towards the suffering (40C rooms without air, no fans available and the promised water delivery never happened). The staff on call had a very poor approach to us as guests when complaining and not refund was offered, which honestly should have happened on arrival knowing the status of the room. Also the breakfast area looked very fancy but the offering of food did not match price level nor the perceived appearance the hotel seems to seek. Our note on being honeymooners had been totally ignored. This hotel tries to appear something it's not!!!
-room design: the room we ended up in felt like a mix between a space ship and "low cost airline does hotel rooms" (shower behind the bed in the actual bedroom with just a curtain around it).hence don't trust the pictures!

Don't stay here!

As lots of people have said - the hotel is in the wrong part of town and so all the sights were a good hike. Also the area is becoming (or is) the Chinatown of Rome and with Termini Station you do get a lot of 'undesirables' in the area. BUT having said all that my son and I loved it. It was 35 degrees (in early June) and so the roof top pool was a huge hit each afternoon. The room we had is like the photo's you see on other reviews, very modern, functional and the beds were very comfortable (nice to have a real feather duvet). The open plan bathroom did mean my 16 year old son and myself had no secrets - but we didn't have an issue with that. The bath was great - deep and wide and so you could have a long soak. The roof top terrace with the pool was an idyll - even though you could hear the trains - the staff were attentive and service was good. I think what also made our stay were the people we met in the hotel. So I would stay in the hotel again.

Room Tip: make sure you get one at the front of the hotel - away from any possible train noise.

We were so impressed with this hotel especially the rooftop pool! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was excellent being so near the train station, although the immediate location outside the hotel was not the best...too many beggars!
