“My Honeymoon Nightmare”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2013

We arrived after a long day of travel on our honeymoon, enter the hotel and were told there was a problem with the room, a pipe broke and thus needed to be moved to another hotel. They moved us to a complete dump which we had to walk with our luggage, Hotel Concordia. We were promised this would be only for a night. The hotel room they moved us to was a complete disaster. Dirty and a very loud AC unit. I was on my honeymoon and my new wife was in tears. It was awful. I went to the lobby and told them this was unacceptable and got no other options. I went over back to La Fenice in which they said to return at 8:00am by Matteo at the front desk. I also asked to speak to the manager, Mugliorato Laura and she was nowhere to be found. I could not sleep due to the AC unit. We walk back over with our bags at 8:00am and the room is not ready. I asked again to speak with manager and was nowhere to be found. I questioned the staff because I saw the same members of the staff at Hotel Concordia finally got to the bottom of what was going on there. There was no broken pipe, I was lied to and they overbook this hotel and put people into the other dirty hotels they own. I check Trip Advisor and other reviews say the same. We finally check into our room and it was clean, but smelled of sewage due to the air system. I finally spoke to the manager, she promised to refund the first night and have yet to see the refund. We booked the room on Expedia and were put into a different hotel and I got a new wife in tears. Expedia accomidate the refund and should remove them immediately for these unacceptable actions.

I've stayed in better hotels in third world countries. We booked this hotel because it had the rooftop bar with wine in the evenings. We expected something like a B&B. What we got was very much like a jail. Like almost everyone else, our room was not available so we were put in the annex. A dump that was some distance away --and the walk was on a hill with cracked pavement. I'm handicapped and it was scary. We had to go back to the main hotel every time we left the room because the key was big and heavy-not something we could carry around all day. The "annex" was awful. We had unlock a main door. Then we had to use a rickety old elevator that didn't even hold the three of us at one time (but even if it did we were so afraid of it that one of us stayed out in case it broke.) Then we had to go up additional steps to get to our cell (oops-did I say that??? -I meant our room.) It was part of a "suite" of 3 or 4 rooms that had a locked door. We then had another lock on our door. Had there been a fire we'd have been toast trying to unlock all those doors. Did I mention how much like a jail it was? So the room was tiny and under eaves so we couldn't even get out of bed without bumping our heads. We couldn't find any glasses in the room and didn't want to trek back to the main hotel for them. (later found them behind the towels under the sink)
So when we checked in we asked about the evening wine on the roof. She said that it was open air with no lighting and cold so they only do that when the weather is nice. Maybe it should say that in the description--just sayin.... She did say we could have a bottle of wine sent to our room. But the phone to the main hotel didn't work so we went over there only to be told (rudely) that there was no such deal. So we had to go buy wine at the store. No corkscrew or glasses-so back out to buy those.
We never saw another person in this annex building, which added to our nervousness-until the middle of the night before we left when people were put into one of the other cells in our block. (Why-when the whole rest of the building appeared to be empty?) That is when we discovered not only that the walls are paper thin but WAY more about these people than we cared to know.
There are lots of hotels in Rome. You don't need to chose this dump.

Stayed here in April 2013. Very close walking distance to many of the main tourist attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was small but very clean. Had a flat screen TV, hair dryer, bidet, safe and jacuzzi tub with hand held shower. The bed was very comfortable. Did not have a clock, faceclothes or coffee pot but that seems common in European hotels so if you wish these bring your own. Had a lovely upstairs terrace where they offer a free glass of wine in the evening. The mini bar in the room was stocked with water, pop etc which was free. A very nice breakfast buffet of eggs, ham, cold cereal, juice, coffee or cappaccino, yogurt etc.was included up on the terrace. Best value for our dollar of all the hotels we stayed in.

Hotel was very warm and friendly, and close to everything in walking distance like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, can catch a bus to Colosseum or other attractions, there are a lot of restaurants and shops close by. Staff is very friendly and helpful and will help organize tours and order a taxi to arrive for you in less than 5 minutes. They have the best cappuccino and free breakfast every morning. The rooms are very quaint but quite small. Beds are a little hard. You get get a free mini bar with sodas, water and some treats. All in all a nice place!

Room Tip: There is no pool or fitness center. Its a boutique hotel

Great location, walking distance to all the main attractions. The hotel was lovely, staff are very friendly, and willing to offer advice/assistance. Rooms were spotless, and ours was very spacious. It is a bit noisy at night time if you want to keep your window open, but that is what you get for being in the heart of the city. Breakfast on the roof terrace when the sun was out was gorgeous. Lots of choice for eating out, we would stay here again.

Visiting Rome for a long weekend, Hotel La Fenice was the perfect accommodation - well presented throughout, the rooms are warm, comfortable and clean. Free wifi and minibar were excellent perks to enjoy, alongside the top service from the staff whom could not be more welcoming and helpful to us during our stay. All major locations are within walking distance, 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain, 10 minutes to Pantheon and maybe 20 to Colosseo! We walked to the Vatican easily...no sightseeing hotspot is far from this perfect hotel in Rome :) We would definitely return, and stay here again :)

Room Tip: Some rooms face the rear courtyard (as ours did)...this is not a problem, we didn't visit Rome t...

At the time you enter the hotel, it looks cozy, seems like a boutique hotel. I think there are less than 20 rooms in this building.

The room is very small but you have everything you need. If you're lucky, you'll get a nice view, otherwise, you'll be stuck with a dirty tunnel courtyard, which we got. The mini bar is free. OH. one thing i complain about. The fresh air system is really bad. The smell from the drainage goes into the room. We thought it was only in our room, but even in the lobby area.

Staffs are friendly, from the reception, to housekeeping to the f&b attendant.

Room Tip: Request for a view..
