Owner description: The Museum in the beautiful setting of Villa Borghese in Rome preserves sculptures, reliefs and ancient mosaics, and paintings and sculptures from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century. The collection, made up initially by Cardinal Scipione Borghese in the early seventeenth century, preserves masterpieces of Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini, Raffaello, Tiziano, Correggio, Caravaggio and beautiful sculptures of Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Canova.

Several hours at the stunning Borghese Gallery is a divine experience, a rare opportunity to be transported to a different time & place. The depth of the collection of Baroque & ancient art & sculpture in the glorious palazzo is dazzling & although it seems loosely enforced, the two-hour limit per visit, which sensibly prevents overcrowding, doesn't come close to being enough time to take it all in; so the next time we have the good fortune to be in Rome, we plan to visit at least twice..

Reservations are required & accoustaguides are available, but since the narrative highlights only one painting per room on the third floor, you're on your own for the rest; so a more detailed guidebook available at the gift shop is recommended.

I had been to the Borghese once before and one of my friends had been twice before, but we wanted to show it to another friend. It did not disappoint. The art and sculptures are impressive. The Bernini sculptures are quite amazing even for those of us with little art knowledge. Please note that reservations are required and a group is admitted only every two hours. Since we were there in November we were able to book on line the day before, but I would guess that this is not true during the summer. It is worth the effort to see such an eleborate place and to see priceless works of art.

there were too many pieces that the audio-guide left out, and the written descriptions were terrible. There whsould be more opportunity to pick and choose what you want to explore. The art and building itself were incredible, though.

This is one of the best museums in the world, great sculptures, wonderful paintings, spectacular collection of Roman marbles and marvellous environment...it is really a must! The visit has to be booked, you are allowed two hours in the gallery and can get an earphone which provides useful information. It is very nice to reach the gallery walking through the Villa Borghese,a lovely passeggiata where you can admire a lot of very pleasant buildings including the casina Valadier. When at the Galleria have a look at the gardens as well.Nice coffe shop where to sit waiting for your visit

This gallery contains the best sculptures you will find on earth such as Bernini's 'Aplllo and Daphne'. Reservations must be made in advance as the number of visitors is limited, which makes the experience all the more enjoyable.
