“Fantastic sculptures and art”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

Visit was a highlight of holiday in Rome. Make sure you get there at least half an hour before your entrance time. It gets very busy but is well organised. Didn't feel rushed during 2 hr visit time and surprisingly you are allowed to take photos. Completely blown away by the sculpture of David and the rape of proserpina. You can almost believe stone is flesh. Unbelievable and very moving.

“A must when in Rome”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

A visit to the Borghese Gallery is a must.

The sculptures and artwork are outstanding. Bernini's statues of David, Pluto & Proserpina and Apollo & Daphne are breathtaking.

Access is limited so make a reservation in advance.

“Long walk - only to find it was fully booked!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We had a Roma pass so decided to take a long walk to see the Villa. Unfortunately unless you book in advance, you can't get in - with or without a pass. Consequently I can't comment on the interior or the contents which might be wonderful. It's the first museum I've ever been to where you HAVE to book in advance to get in [ however this important fact is not obvious in the tourist blurb on the Villa]. The staff are a little brusque staff too.The large gardens offer plenty of shade and make a pleasant walk but they are nothing special compared to many parks and gardens I have visited with few flowers or specimen shrubs and poor quality lawns. Sissinghurst or Hidcote it is not

“Good day visit”
Reviewed 13 August 2014

the Borghese Gallery is a wealth of beautiful art works. Everywhere you look you will see beautiful art.
If you are not into art or museums this is not for you. The visit was nice and we bought the audio tour which explains what every room is about and also explains some of the works.
You need to buy your tickets online ahead of time and they give everyone a 2 hour window to visit. It was well worth it and the fact that is inside beautiful Villa Borghese park was a huge plus as you can walk in the park and enjoy being outside on a nice day.
