The owners of this hotel don't advertise it as well as they might. The impression I got from their website is that it's for backpackers (triple room etc.) however it's actually a perfectly nice place and perfect for a trip to Rome where you intend to use the room for sleeping and not much else. Car parking is a slight issue. Their website states that you can park in the car park directly opposite the hotel. There is no car park. You need to park on the street. This is OK as it’s not a bad area however space is severely limited so place your hire car up against the building, fold in the mirrors and hope for the best! The hotel is actually one floor of a multi-storey building containing multiple businesses – all office-based, no light industry or anything that would cause a poor night’s sleep. This means arriving at a nondescript building with no outward signs that it contains a hotel so a map or satnav are essential. Once you arrive you’ll need to buzz in using the intercom and take your suitcases to the required floor in the world’s smallest elevator (actually quite funny). While this might all seem a little unusual it’s really fine as the building is clean and safe as a result of this arrangement. The rooms are OK – smallish, but with three beds you can dump your suitcases on one and have enough room to move around. The bathroom was not the highest quality but perfectly functional. Breakfast in included but you might like to avoid it and head to a local café instead. The staff were really nice and helpful, even to the point of placing the unwrapped muffins and toast on your plates with their hands. Just something we weren’t used to. As a base for a one-night whistle-stop visit to Rome it was perfectly fine. No frills, just super-close to the attractions we wanted to see on this trip before heading out the next day to Tuscany. Oh, and they have free postcards which I thought was a really nice touch.

Room Tip: Go for the triple room option to guratee enough room to be comfortable.

Ok only a two star hotel and decor perhaps not the best, but staff were really helpful, spoke English and were very flexible. We went in aug 2013. Weather very hot. We were given bottles of water each day to take out which was good. Maps and knowledge of local area was provided. Free WIFI. Towels were changed every two days. Hair dryer in room. Safe in each room. Beds very comfortable. lift was small but perfectly okay. only thing that we didnt like was the lady in the kitchen spending her time putting her make up on in the breakfast room whilst we were waiting for coffee- is not hygienic and very frustrating!! Fantastic location, about 10 minutes walk to trevi fountain and restaurant / souvenir area. About 20 minutes walk to Spanish steps. Only 5 minute walk to bus stop for no. 62 bus that went to vatican and St. Peter's. reception staff were really helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for balcony room if you smoke. Don't get a room facing back road as you hear traffic most o...

Spotlessly clean, fantastic location, who could ask for more? I found this hotel while looking for a less expensive alternative to the hotel that my friends were staying at and as it were, hotel Azzurra far exceeded my expectations. When looking for a base in Rome I don't think you could get any more perfect, 5 minute walk to the Trevi fountain, 10 minutes to the Spanish steps, 30 minutes to the colosseum and only two stops on the metro from termini. The hop-on-hop-off pass has a stop only two minutes from the front door and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby. The staff were fantastic and very helpful when asking for directions or suggestions on what to do for the day. The breakfast was nice and simple, a pleasant start to a days sight seeing in Rome.

Very small hotel, but very neat and clean. Great location, walking distance to subway station, Fontana de Trevi, Spanish Stepts, supermarket, and great restaurants.
Loved that for the price it includes breakfast (coffee and pastry), bottled water in the room AND WIFI!!!!. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Highly recommended for passengers in transit (with small luggage). Although our 4 huge pieces of luggage made it up and down the teeny-tiny/ 16th century elevator.
Also good for solo people.

I have to admit I was a bit unsure what this hotel would be like being a 2 star in rome but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The staff on reception were really helpful and our room was perfect for a 4 night stay in rome. It was cleaned daily and had free wifi, a plasma tv on the wall and sky tv and was a good size for the 2 of us. The continental breakfast included in the room price was also decent. The location is amazing literally 5 min walk from the Trevvi fountain. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone wanting a decent budget hotel

The small, old fashioned elevator to the third floor where the hotel is located can be the scariest experience for some. But once you get used to it and how it operates, you will be fine, although the jerks and bounce can still be shocking although you have done a ride on it for the 10th time! This is a small hotel, more like a homestay. Surprisingly, we felt at home during our stay there. The window opens out to the cobbled street below. The room is basic but very spacious, good size shower, free wifi, aircondition in the room although can be noisy but the bed was comfortable so we slept well through the nights. The staff were all very very nice, friendly and helpful. Ask them anything, they will try their very best to help. Location was perfect - just 5mins walk from Barberrini metro station. Breakfast in a small room but we never had trouble getting a table. The hotel provides free chilled bottled water everyday! How generous considering the fact that this is Rome! I highly recommend this hotel for the great location, for the very helpful staff - provided me with everything I needed from plug converters to luggage scale, the cleanliness and good sized room, and the fact that wifi is free! Highly recommended for Rome for budget travellers.
