“Perfect base for city trip with unexpected bonuses”
Reviewed 7 May 2013

Previous reviews say it all. The hotel is on the 3rd floor of a private apartment block (there is a lift) Helpful, friendly staff. Clean, decent size room. Walking distance to Termini station, metro station and the Colosseum. Near supermarket, bars, take-away pizza and wonderful ice-cream parlour. Room had a small fridge (with bottled water replaced every day). There was an air con unit, double glazing and a comfy bed for a good night's sleep. The bonuses were free coffee and WiFi in the small reception area, a market stall on the corner of a street nearby with wonderful fresh fruit and a bottle opener on the wall in the bathroom!

Stayed at this hotel for two nights whilst exploring Rome. It's located approximately 10-15 minutes walk from the main train station in Rome, on the third floor of an apartment block. It is also a very short walk to the metro station, and around 20 minutes to the Colosseum.

The rooms were spacious for the price with large bathroom and AC. Reception were helpful and allowed baggage storage before check in and after check out. Overall, it was everything we needed for a budget, sightseeing break in Rome

Nice, big and clean room. Close to the Termini Station, supermarket and restaurants. We stayed there for a week and the only drawbacks are the neighborhood at night and no WiFi. By the way, it's only one minute away from Rome's biggest ice cream parlor! And because of this, will stay there again next time.

Terrible experience, the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything around especially the construction upstairs that ruined our stay. Impossible to get any rest, there are hundreds of better choices in Rome, so keep on looking do not make the mistake of staying here like we did.

Room Tip: Noisy and uncomfortable

Good location and service.
Big and very comfortable beds, which allow to completely restore after walks.
There is a market nearby, where you can buy for low prices fresh and very tasty fruits, seafood and many other things.
We liked the hotel very much.

We stayed in Hotel Moscatello for three nights. Overall, a great hotel for the money we paid. The hotel is a short walk from Termini station (15-20 mins) and also has a metro station on the A line about a 2 min walk away. It is close to attractions like the Coloseum and the surrounding roman ruins (20 min walk). The room itself was basic but comfortable and had aircon and the window opened up into a nice little courtyard. There is a small fridge in the room that got restocked with bottled water daily which was a nice touch. In terms of drawbacks, the only real issues I had was lack of wifi or internet access of any sort in the hotel (we ended up buying a local SIM for our phone) and the fact that conversations that happen in reception carry into your room. All in all, I would consider staying here again due to the convenient location near the train station. I generally rate a hotel on how well I manage to sleep, and in Hotel Moscatello I slept like a baby.

I have never written a bad review before but travelers deserve to be warned about this place.
We were extremely dissatisfied and disappointed with our stay at this hotel.
The neighborhood seems unsafe. The hotel itself is only the third floor of a building and the reception area is tiny and 10 feet from the rooms. The rooms are average looking, ours had a small hole in the ceiling with a metal bar coming out of it. The sheets were old and with holes. There is no wifi. We could have tolerated all of these hotel's shortcomings but what truly made our stay extremely uncomfortable in Rome was that the noise level was intolerable. You can hear every conversation from the reception and the noise from the other rooms, even worse was the fact that there was construction going on every single day of our stay from 8am to 7pm. I am talking about loud drilling and hammering right above our room for 6 days. We expressed our discomfort to the reception but they were unresponsive.
No matter how desperate you are for a hotel DO NOT STAY HERE. It is truly a bad place and you won't be able to rest or relax in here.
Do not waste your money here like we did.
