If you're looking for a charming, boutique hotel in a quiet, garden setting where you'll be catered to by kind and attentive staff, look no further. Hotel Aventino is your perfect choice!
My husband and I had never been to Rome before and we selected Hotel Aventino based on their online reviews. We were delighted to find that everything was just as we expected, if not better than expected.
The staff is superb. Friendly, thoughtful, conscientious and helpful. We particularly appreciated Justin's ability to speak with us in English. After a 22 hour travel day, we were so exhausted when we arrived at the Aventino and thank god for Justin, he helped us sit down, got us some juice and kindly reviewed all of the local transportantion and restaurants with us. Thank you, Justin! The entire team at the Aventino was lovely and gracious and we especially enjoyed the hand-crafted coffee made freshly for us every morning.
The rooms are clean, charming, and just what you need to relax after a long day of adventuring. The bed was firm, but made extra plush by the addition of extra blankets and pillows. We had a lovely french door and demi-balcony in our room, so it was nice to open the doors and windows for fresh air when we wanted to nap. The bathroom was pretty and modern, with a spa tub that felt so good after a long day's walk. All the amenities you'd expect are provided each day. I'd like to specifically address one reviewer's complaints about "dingey hallways" and small televisions. The hallways are not dingey, they're absolutely fine and they're what you'd expect to find in a small, European hotel. I found them quaint and charming; there's nothing dingey about the Aventino. The same reviewer complained about the small television. If you're coming to Rome to watch TV, you should probably stay home. The TV is just fine and the perfect size to watch as you're drifting off to sleep. I was delighted that they had channels in several languages.
The breakfast provided each morning is very nice, complete with pastries, cereals, fresh deli meats and cheeses, eggs, bread, jams, butters, tea and coffee. A nicely done typical European breakfast. It's just what you need to start your day.
The location was ideal for us. I prefer a place that's calm, quiet, and a bit removed from the frenzy of city life. The Aventino is just that. Situated in the quieter Aventino district of south-west Rome, the hotel is a charming structure that originally was a multi-family home. It's been tastefully adapted to be a hotel, but retains the feeling of a private gated residence in an upscale neighborhood. From the hotel, you're a 3 minute walk to Parco Savello, 10 minutes to Circus Maximus, and 8 minutes from shops, restaurants, gourmet food markets, and buses.
We loved the Aventino and would love to return sometime soon. I couldn't recommend the hotel more highly; I promise you won't be disappointed by your stay. I know you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
