“Charming Boutique Hotel with Superb Staff and Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 April 2014

If you're looking for a charming, boutique hotel in a quiet, garden setting where you'll be catered to by kind and attentive staff, look no further. Hotel Aventino is your perfect choice!

My husband and I had never been to Rome before and we selected Hotel Aventino based on their online reviews. We were delighted to find that everything was just as we expected, if not better than expected.

The staff is superb. Friendly, thoughtful, conscientious and helpful. We particularly appreciated Justin's ability to speak with us in English. After a 22 hour travel day, we were so exhausted when we arrived at the Aventino and thank god for Justin, he helped us sit down, got us some juice and kindly reviewed all of the local transportantion and restaurants with us. Thank you, Justin! The entire team at the Aventino was lovely and gracious and we especially enjoyed the hand-crafted coffee made freshly for us every morning.

The rooms are clean, charming, and just what you need to relax after a long day of adventuring. The bed was firm, but made extra plush by the addition of extra blankets and pillows. We had a lovely french door and demi-balcony in our room, so it was nice to open the doors and windows for fresh air when we wanted to nap. The bathroom was pretty and modern, with a spa tub that felt so good after a long day's walk. All the amenities you'd expect are provided each day. I'd like to specifically address one reviewer's complaints about "dingey hallways" and small televisions. The hallways are not dingey, they're absolutely fine and they're what you'd expect to find in a small, European hotel. I found them quaint and charming; there's nothing dingey about the Aventino. The same reviewer complained about the small television. If you're coming to Rome to watch TV, you should probably stay home. The TV is just fine and the perfect size to watch as you're drifting off to sleep. I was delighted that they had channels in several languages.

The breakfast provided each morning is very nice, complete with pastries, cereals, fresh deli meats and cheeses, eggs, bread, jams, butters, tea and coffee. A nicely done typical European breakfast. It's just what you need to start your day.

The location was ideal for us. I prefer a place that's calm, quiet, and a bit removed from the frenzy of city life. The Aventino is just that. Situated in the quieter Aventino district of south-west Rome, the hotel is a charming structure that originally was a multi-family home. It's been tastefully adapted to be a hotel, but retains the feeling of a private gated residence in an upscale neighborhood. From the hotel, you're a 3 minute walk to Parco Savello, 10 minutes to Circus Maximus, and 8 minutes from shops, restaurants, gourmet food markets, and buses.

We loved the Aventino and would love to return sometime soon. I couldn't recommend the hotel more highly; I promise you won't be disappointed by your stay. I know you'll enjoy it as much as we did!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 343, which was a double bed with demi-balcony. There is a fabulous room with a hug...

We were looking for a nice hotel in Rome away from the crowds and the chaotic traffic...and we found it!
This hotel is in a very nice location only a 15min walk to Trastevere and 40min walk to most attractions in Rome.
The room was beautiful and the hotel cleanliness outstanding. Very good breakfast and friendly staff.
We recommend getting a room with balcony because on a sunny day it is lovely to sit outside and sip on some chilled prosecco :)

The service at this hotel was second to none - the staff at reception were always keen to help us out, and spoke wonderful English. We were so lucky to choose Hotel Aventino while we were in Rome. The rooms are immaculate, and wonderful value for what you pay. It is also in a quieter area of town. The hotel is not too far from a metro stop (Circo Massemo, about 800m/1km away), which takes you too all the main sites. The breakfast was great. I can't fault a thing with this hotel, I think anyone thinking of staying in Rome should think of staying at Aventino.

Perfection!
We stayed 4 nights at the hotel last week and were truly delighted with our choice of hotel.
The villa-style suits us well, the quality of accommodation is as you would expect - superb!.
The staff is excellent, helpful and efficient. Breakfast is simple, but just what we required.

We walked to all of the sites and attractions, excepting the Vatican which is an easy 23 bus from the foot of the hill. Transport was no problem if needed, and the quiet location is extraordinary to say it is in the very heart of the city. Even the trees were in blossom - bliss!
There are good trattorias and bars in the adjacent Testaccio area.

We visited Rome for 5 days as a wedding anniversary treat in the week before Easter, staying at the Hotel Aventino. The hotel's location is excellent, close to the city and its sights but away from the relentless noise and bustle that is modern Rome. Our stay could not have been nicer. The staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast was a good start to the day. We would certainly recommend the Hotel Aventino as a great base to explore the city.

My wife and I along with our daughter and Grand daughter stayed here for 4 nights. It is a lovely small hotel in a quiet location but close to many of the major attractions. We were in rooms 334/5 just across the courtyard from the main building. The accommodation was fine but both rooms could do with a little TLC to make this a 5* recommendation. The staff and service was excellent as was the breakfast. I would recommend this hotel as a suitable place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Rome but close enough to see the important sights.

The Aventino hotel is situated on one of the loveliest hills in Rome .In late March when we went the Orange Garden nearby was abundant with fully ripened oranges and from these same walled public gardens next to the beautiful 5th century church of Santa Sabina, there were glorious views right across Rome to St Peter's ,especially as the sun was setting. The Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Roman Forum and is in a quiet elegant location with sumptuous walled gardens where lemon trees grow and shrubs of all kinds - camelias were in full bloom when we went --and the birds in full flow as it was early spring .All the staff very kind and helpful. At breakfast there was an amazing range and choice of fresh fruit, dairy products and home made pastries of several kinds served with lashings of delicious coffee . We loved our stay there.

Dear Norma
thank you for your positive comment!
It's nice to know you appreciate the hotel, the location, the services and the quietness of the area. The Aventino hill is one of the quietest areas of Rome even if it's a few steps from the centre.

Hope to see you next time to enjoy once again our hotel!
