“Lovely little hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

We stayed here this week for 7 nights. The hotel is small and located on a quiet street. It is minutes from many main attractions in Rome such as Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps), the Trevi Fountain and Piazza Novono.

While being centrally located, the hotel itself is quiet and peaceful. The double glazing means that you can shut out exterior noise brilliantly. The wifi signal is intermittent on the third floor, but it's fine in the lobby and there is a computer that is free to use.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean. My room (and my uncle's) was cleaned each day, no matter what time I left... Unfortunately my mother was not so lucky. Salvatore in particular was hilarious and tried to be helpful - even when he wasn't sure what we were asking.

The breakfast is an Italian breakfast - not a continental breakfast as advertised on many sites. There are lots of sweets and cakes, toast, cereal, juice and coffee - filling but not ot my taste.

I can recommend Hotel Cecil for a trip to Rome. It is central, the staff are friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: The single rooms have tiny showers. You might be better off sharing a double- twin if travelling to...

Friendly helpful staff but wifi in rooms not the greatest. Wifi worked in lobby. Great location many attractions in walking distance. Safe to walk at night. Nice terrace with great view . We were a family of four and found the room very accommodating and nice size washroom. Breakfast was ok, many sweets to choose from.

My family and I stayed here for three nights. A nice hotel. Although a bit run down. The staff was very friendly. Typical Italian breakfast. You'll either love it or hate it. Eating cake for breakfast just isn't my thing. Great rooftop terrace. The location and the friendly staff is this hotels best features. And if you've got an interest in Norwegian literature it's a fun fact that Henrik Ibsen stayed here when he wrote parts of Peer Gynt.

We stayed 4 nights at this small and very friendly hotel. It is located just above the Spanish steps in a rather quiet street. It is a short walk to the shopping district and plently of restaurants nearby.

We stayed the first night in a big room with 4 beds, all comfortable, and a renewed bathroom. Due to a minor issue we were moved to the suite, an amazing room with a large bathroom, a sitting area, and an outside terrass.

A nice Italan breakfast is included with a lot of sweets, coffee/tea, etc. The breakfast area is small but we easily found tables every morning.

The staff was very nice and friendly. We will definitely return next time in Rome.

Great hotel. Our family stayed there for three nights in July, 2014. The location is fantastic - close to every major attraction. Walk to Spanish steps, and all major landmarks, and hop on hop off bus stop two minute walk. The staff was fantastic - from the front desk with helpful suggestions on how to get around city, restaurant suggestions, etc to the room staff that was was fast, friendly and very clean, to the breakfast staff which were very accommodating to the children etc. Rooms were renovated and great bathrooms. Good air conditioning. Breakfast had good selection. Can only recommend the hotel very highly. Will stay there again. No negative comments.

Dear Guest,
we thank you very much!! especially for the appreciation at our breakfast.
We pay a lot of attention to respect the Italian tradition with our creamy cappuccini, and our greedy cakes, that are so popular in the world.

Best regards to your lovely family.

Travelled with the family to Rome for a few days to catch the sightseeing. Concur with others that the hotel is excellently positioned, Colesseum and the Vatican are the likely furthest things you'll want to visit, and they are both within 30 min walk. The rest is within that arc.
Breakfast was a bit interesting, not having been to Rome I'm not sure if what we had was standard, but the Italian croissants were very sweet.
Helpful staff, who helped us avoid the Roma card but pre-book other attractions.

Came driving in to Rome in the afternoon, parked the car and went straight into Hotel Cecil. They had a vacant room for three people and they were very helpful. They showed us all the things we had to see.

One surpricing thing; they have a roof terrace!

The staff was very nice and helpful.
The room and bathroom was very nice.
Breakfast was nothing much to talk about.
