Hotel Dell'Urbe is a superb place to stay on a map of Rome. It is located close to Termini which is a great asset. The owner of the delightful and very helpful. Rooms big, well furnished, clean. Large bathroom with shower, clean. Breakfast delivered to your room, basic but very tasty. Perfect place during the visit to the eternal city. Recommended!

I stayed at this hotel in November and it was very reasonably priced. We stayed 3 nights and got breakfast each morning at the time of our choice. The location of the hotel is perfect, only a 2 minute stroll from Termini, the main train and Metro station, which means the entire city is easily within reach. The people who run the hotel are extremely friendly and very accommodating. The room was cleaned every day and we got fresh towels and shampoo when we asked. The rooms are nice, quite basic but you get a fridge and safe for no extra charge. The only draw backs are the noise and the smell of he toilet water. There was quite a lot of noise from the other residents and the street below, the room does not block out the noise very well. The smell from the toilet is of stale water, it is not very pleasant. It has nothing to do with the cleanliness of the hotel, its just the smell of stale water. Overall we had a very pleasant stay, and this hotel is excellent value for the money we paid for it.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of May 2013.

When we arrived we were greeted by the owner, a friendly older man. His knowledge of the English language is not that great but in a funny way understandable.

Checking in went smooth and he showed us to our room explaining everything. We also had to let him know how we wanted our coffee at breakfast and at what time. They bring the breakfast to your room. You have to fill out every day on a paper at the reception desk what coffee you want and at what time you want your breakfast, don't forget it.

The room was small but very clean. Bathroom also not very big but again very clean. The shower was the smallest one I had ever been in. If you are kind of a big guy you'll hit all sides when standing in it :)

There was a booklet created by the owner with information on all touristic highlights with closing times and information on how to get there (metro, train, bus,..). We thought this was very nice and useful.

If you don't speak Italian you'll have a hard time enjoying the TV, it does have a lot of channels but they are all Italian.

A bad point about this hotel must be the noise. Until approx. midnight there is quite some noise from the streets but also from the other guests. It's like the walls are made of paper. Doors slamming, doorbells ringing, toilets flushing, you will hear it all untill everybody has settled down for the night. On our last night there were new guests with a baby which started crying at 6 AM.
You are done sleeping I can assure you.

The beds are not that comfortable, you can feel every spring in the matras so it was looking for a sweet spot and then it was okay. I slept through the night every time. There is a church nearby which starts ringing it's bells at 6.30AM, it woke me up every time but my girlfriend was able to sleep through it so it depends if you are a deep sleeper.

Breakfast was nice. Coffee, juice, yoghurt, some toast and coffee cake. We did buy some bread in a nearby supermarket and some jelly to have a bit more to eat in the morning. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep things cool.

Every day the room was cleaned very nicely, nothing to complain there.
There are also some additional blankets in the closet if you are cold in bed, these blankets didn't smell like they were in there for a long time, good indication that they keep them freshly cleaned.

The location of the hotel is at approx. 5 minute walk from Termini station. This is a big plus as we had bought the Roma Pass so we could use the Metro for 3 days unlimited. So our first stop in the morning was Termini to take the Metro to where we wanted to go. I must say that the main attractions are not that far apart. If you like walking you can easily do it also on foot.
The Colosseum is about 30 minutes walking from the hotel for example.

This is an older style hotel in the historic district and just a couple of hundred metres from Roma Termini. It has been recently renovated and was spotlessly clean. It is not a 5 star hotel and certainly does not advertise as such but for a clean, modest reasonably spacious room in the centre of Rome it is difficult to beat. A continental breakfast of yougurt, juice, croissants, toasts and coffee are served in your room.
Transport to all venues and the Hop on Hop off bus are just down the road, but if you don't mind walking the forum etc are about 30 minutes away.
Time has been taken to put together a great catologue of the main tourist sites and how to get to them. It also includes helpful bits on where and how to buy tickets, cheap ways to get to the airport etc.
There are numerous restaurants aound and all great value
Would definitely recommend.

This hotel is 5 steeps from Termini, so it means that it is really close to the historical part of Rome. We visited all the attractions on foot. U can find a clean water just at the gates of the hotel, so u can full ur bottles and save about 10 euro per day )
The room (38) was clean but the view from the balcony was terrible: tiny inner court between walls of the buildings. Air conditioning counts 8 euro per day. The breakfast was good: very tasty croissants with grapefruit juice, yogurts, toasts and coffee at ur choice.

Room Tip: Room №38 is quiet but with a bad view.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days before the cruise and then for one more day after the cruise.
First two days were good – we paid by the credit card for the room (it was rather clean), the breakfast was served to the room (fruit, 2 jogurts, one little cup of flakes (maybe enough for one person, not for two), biscuits, 2 croissants, cappuccino (or coffee, tea by your choice) and juice. But the last morning of our staying, before our departure, they refused to serve us the breakfast without any explanations (the only words we heard: “No breakfast”. As far as we understand, 3 nights – 3 breakfasts, but we had 3 nights and 2 breakfasts. So we had to find the place to have a snack though we had already paid for it.
After such an attitude we’ll certainly never come to this place again, but we had one more booked night after the cruise. We got to the hotel, and the first problem was that they refused to accept the credit card because it was Friday (we do not understand what Friday has to do with credit cards).
The next problem – we paid in cash – hotel price and extra taxes, but they did not give us any cheque!
One more problem was the room – we have booked double, but got triple room with some problems – the flush system in WC did not work correctly.
Besides, the upper light was so bad that it was twilight in the room – we returned from the town late in the evening, hoped to pack our things but failed – eyes got tired, it was really dark in the room, they obviously save on electric light bulbs.
The next morning, as one would expect, we had no breakfast – and again no explanations.
In our opinion the only advantage of this so-called hotel is its location – one can easily get to all sights in old town.
This hotel was the worst we have ever stayed at, and unfortunately, it spoiled our impression about Rome.

We stayed at this hotel on two different occasions, for several nights. The rooms were clean and functional. The staff was excellent. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to other travelers.
