“Okay hotel in good location.”
Reviewed 29 July 2012

We stayed here in 2008 and the room itself was only okay. Mainly clean but we had balcony and it had a brilliant view, which is rare ina lot of Rome hotels.
It was cheap enough for Rome standards.
Would be ideal for couples on tight budget visiting Rome for few days

We made reservations, along with another couple, well in advance with a huge nationwide travel agency, but when we arrived Sunday, April29 we were told our reservations were cancelled. It was May Day weekend, and they had given our rooms to other people. We refused to leave the lobby, and they found a room with a shared bath for the other couple, while we had to carry our luggage about 1 mile away to their sister hotel, Zara. The next day while we were sightseeing, Zara packed our bags and took them to the lobby because they had booked that room, but Erdarelli found one with a shared bath, so we carried our luggage a mile back. They finally got us the rooms we ordered May 1, and later admitted there was a "mistake" and our reservations had not been cancelled. We have been trying to get some compensations since our return but have not been able to do so in 2 months. This fiasco spoiled an otherwise great trip to celebrate our friend's birthday.

Grotty, grubby, seedy, and kind of great in a single-residence-occupancy-circa 1930s kind of way. Our room on the top floor (with balcony) was very quiet, and the walls were sticky to the touch, and, in some parts, singed from fire. The bathroom is down the hall, and upon entering, you go back at least 70 years. There’s a lock on the door, and decent water pressure, and it’s perfectly fine. The room is quiet, and at night you can even sleep with the balcony door open and get fresh air. But you may, as I did, spend several hours awake scratching the bejesus out of yourself. I had several bug bites in the morning and tried hard not to think about the possibility of bed bugs, but…a word to the wise, we had something biting us. Despite its tattiness, there’s something refreshing about finding a well-preserved dump in the heart of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. As we were checking in here, one woman who’d just been shown a room was at the front desk saying indignantly, ‘I cannot stay in that room, I cannot sleep there.’ If you’re used to creature comforts, you may feel similarly.

The main plus of this hotel is its location, close to La Spagna and the Trevi Fountain, and within 15 minutes walking distances of the Forum, the Colosseum and other sights. Apart from that, the hotel doesn't have much to offer; my room was tiny, the only window lead directly to a construction sight and couldn't be closed. Still, it seemed clean, and the value for money was reasonable.

Don't be tempted by this place. Great location and low price lured us in. But it was dirty, inhospitable, noisy, and with poor service. Our names and reservations were on the books, but it took them 20 minutes to figure out which rooms we should be in, mostly because we had booked rooms with a private bathroom. My friend struggled with her bags while the two desk clerks watched. We asked for drinking glasses and were told to go to the gelato shop next door to get plastic cups. (Sorry, Mr. Desk Clerk, for interrupting your ongoing personal phone calls.) No one checked our name against the room register when we asked for our key off the peg board -- anyone could walked off the street and gotten our room key. The room doors were flimsy and not secure. No in-room safe. The shower was grimy and the shower head was broken. Water was hot, linen was clean. Lack of carpeting and flimsy doors made the room noisy because of all the hotel foot traffic.

Room Tip: Definitely book a double room even if you are on your own. Make sure you indicate you want a private...

Went for 2 days and ended up staying 5. Its not a fancy hotel but who wants to be inside the hotel room when you're in Rome. Erdarelli will provide you with breakfast, clean rooms and fresh towels everyday, maps and brochures and a quiet sleep. Staff was professional, friendly and willing to accomodate. This is where Im staying next time, without a doubt.
