“Perfect location and wonderful staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2012

We were travelling to Rome for our 5th time, but for the first time with a baby (8 months old). I was nervous around being able to make up formula and store food etc. but I needn't have worried.

The staff had set up a travel cot in our room for our daughter, and then didn't charge us for it, although it would usually be an extra 15euros per night, which seems reasonable. There was a fridge in the room, which, although filled as a mini bar, had room for bottles of formula.

The staff let us help ourselves to boiling water from the coffee machine, with which we heated food and made up bottles.

We had taken our own washing liquid for cleaning bottles and an inflatable bath as there was only a shower in the bathroom, but this was easy.

The lift up to the hotel on the 3rd floor would just about fit the buggy and one of us in, so that was really helpful and not typical of a lot of the small lifts in typical Roman buildings!

The staff were brilliantly friendly, quite happy with us asking for hot water, or asking about baby related things!

In terms of non baby related things, the hotel is perfectly located in between the historical landmarks all reachable on foot. It's well kept and the rooms are airconditioned and quiet as well as of a very good size. The bed was comfortable, and the shower powerful.

We will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed Residenza Argentina. The price to location ratio was the best available when we booked. We walked to everything in Rome. All the major sites (Vatican to the Colosseum to the Spanish steps, etc...) were well within a 20 minute walk and the Pantheon and the best night life were seconds away. It's built into what seems like an apartment building, so you get the unique feeling like you going home to your actual Rome apartment. I forgot that I had mentioned we were coming with our 6 month son and they had already set up a portable crib in the room for us, which was nice. The breakfast was nothing special, standard stuff, but good. Things to know that are not really negatives, they are easy to work around, but I can see a picky person getting irritated. The actual entrance to the place is not directly accessible to the street, you have to cross a set of railroad tracks or walk about a half block to the nearest intersection (and potentially you are blocked by a train), which when you have 4 LARGE bags with well over 200 pounds of stuff (baby stuff is heavy) was a bit complicated. The rooms are small, but rooms for a reasonable price throughout Europe are tiny. The guys at the front desk are nice, but not super helpful. Put it this way, they will answer any question you may have, but you'll just get the answer and not much else. By and large their recommendations for restaurants were lacking. The elevator is small and slow, again, the building is probably 300 or more years old. It's fine. I'd say it's an interesting unique, fun experience, and not a negative. Overall, you get what you generally get at any other hotel here, but this place has way more character, an outstanding location, and the price is right.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of May with our teenage daughter and found this to be an excellent location for sightseeing. While it is more like a bed & breakfast than a hotel, we found it to be a very comfortable and convenient place to stay. We could walk to all the major tourist sites from this location – everything from the coliseum to the Vatican.

Our room had one double & one single bed and both were very comfortable. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean and modern. The bath tub was very high and not easy to step in and out of – not suitable for any one with balance or mobility issues.

The continental breakfast was fresh and the staff very pleasant to deal with. They were helpful in booking us a cab to take us to the airport for an early morning departure. There is free wireless internet service in the common area but we were also able to get reception from our room. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is not easy to locate the hotel because you have to ring to enter into a courtyard and then ring again to be buzzed into the building. We checked out the location before hand on Google maps (street view) so we had an idea of what to look for, but it is not that obvious. We felt that we got good value because it was such a convenient location, the staff were helpful and the room comfortable.

Every hotel I've stayed at, when the word "suite" is used it means at least two rooms, a bedroom and a common area with a foldout couch or something like this. This place took a regular room and crammed two small rollaways and called it a family suite and charged $325. The location is very good, but I thing the website implies a much bigger facility, as opposed to the six rooms on the third floor of a building that took us an hour to find.

This is one of the best locations in Rome for sightseeing -- the 64/40 busses stop here making it an easy trip to the Vatican and the train station, very close walk to the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The hotel itself was good -- especially b/c the staff was so nice and friendly. The place has a chintzy look to it though. My room was close to the reception and I needed earplugs at night. It's a good place to stay but ask for a quiet room.

This boutique style hotel, is in a brilliant location! You can walk to everything and public transport/taxi rank on your doorstep. The room was well appointed, with tasteful furnishing and very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We travelled on to Sorrento and on our return, they allowed us to leave our luggage at hotel for a few hours while we had a few hours in Rome before catching a late flight home. Highly recommended!
