Blink and you'd miss it but entry was via a courtyard to a lovely clean hotel with free wifi and satellite TV (use "i" on the remote to change language). Close to the Vatican but off the beaten track enough that the local restaurants are not tourist traps - "Da Vito e Dina" a family restaurant across the way on Via degli Scipioni was where we ate mostly. Metro close by - only 1.5 Euros per trip and children free. Recommend a Roma Pass from tourist attraction ticket offices to avoid queuing at the Colisseum and also gives three days metro travel. For the Vatican Museum avoid the queues by just walking in at the back of a coach trip (trips/tours have a priority queue) then buy a ticket at the booths inside. That will save you a lot of money rather than engaging with all the "Skip the Line" hangers-on you will come across near the Museum. Don't go to Rome in the month of August when many restaurants and bars are closed when the owners take their holidays. Only found one bar as distinct from a restaurant nearby - Bar Ottaviano on Via Crescenzio - sometimes you just want a couple of beers...
