I stayed at the Hotel Golden in Rome for three nights with my partner. The hotel was located on the second floor of what appeared to be an office building. The family that runs the hotel is always there is you need assistance and very friendly.

The room was small, but pretty typical by European standards. The decor seems a bit dated, but overall, the room was very comfortable during our stay. The 4-piece bathroom was actually very roomy for a European hotel room. The shower was small, but the water was always hot and very soothing. The room was always kept clean and organized by the staff. Our room overlooked Via Sardegna which did provide some noise issues during the day, but the area did seem very quiet at night.

Breakfast is provided in a small dining area. The breakfast was adequate with yogurt, cereal, breads and cheeses. It wasn't the best breakfast in the world, but for a free meal, it was definitely appreciated.

Free wi-fi is provided by the hotel, which was extremely helpful in planning our days in Rome.

I highly recommend a pizza place just down the street on Via Marche. Take a right out of the hotel and it's a few blocks down on your left. I don't recall a name, but the pizza was delicious! I also recommend a nearby gelato shop down on Via Sardegna called Caffe Lotti. Their gelato is absolutely to die for and the lady running the shop was very friendly and welcoming.

For transportation, the Spagna metro station is technically the closest, however I would recommend the Barberini station instead. It's a little further, but the hill is a bit more gradual up to the hotel than from Spagna, which starts downhill and then takes you back uphill.

The Villa Borghese is just steps away from the hotel and a great place to just walk around and explore. You can rent bicycles, go to a movie, visit a museum all in this little area. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit.

We stayed several nights in a very comfortable and quiet room. The location suited our needs well and we readily walked through Rome to enjoy many of the city's highlights. We asked and recieved dining suggestions each evening and they turned out to be quite good. Very responsive and personal assistance from both Guiseppe and Marco. The breakfast selection was broad, well presented and plentiful. We definitely would stay here again when visiting Rome.

We have just returned from a week at Hotel Golden,a small independent family run hotel in Rome.Several of the Family spoke very good English and were delighted to offer help and advice on a variety of subjects both before and during our stay. Our room was comfortable and immaculately clean and breakfast was an excellent variety. There were many good restaurants within walking distance and a taxi rank around the corner.
"My Star Tip" is that it is vital in some cases and preferable in the rest to book well in advance for some galleries. Some can be booked via E Mail and Giuseppe kindly helped us with one where that was not possible. We felt that we were amongst friends and the holiday truly was a lovely experience of living in Rome.

My wife and I were very pleased with our six-night stay at the Hotel Golden the last week of June 2011. The hotel is situated in a nice location, one block away from both Via Veneto and Villa Borghese. There is a metro station maybe three blocks away, but we found that the bus system was the best way to get around and the bus stops were even closer to the hotel.

We had booked a room with a double bed but were treated to an upgrade with a larger room which was very spacious (especially by European standards) and comfortable. The facilities were immaculate. The complimentary breakfasts were delicious and there was quite a selection to choose from every morning - the breakfasts in the hotel also allowed us to get a head start on our sightseeing each day.

Guiseppe and Marco were very welcoming, making us feel right at home. They were helpful in showing us local restaurants which were very good, along with the various bus routes to use in getting to locations in the city. The Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain were both about 10 minute walks away, and a section of the Aurelian wall is half a block from the hotel entrance.

Having read alot of the other reviews on Trip Advisor (this is how we found Hotel Golden when we were looking for a reasonably priced Rome Hotel), we can only add our five stars and say that we were totally pleased with every aspect of our stay.
