Our family of four just returned from Italy and stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Golden. This a family-run hotel in a lovely part of Rome, near Villa Borghese, the US Embassy and Via Veneto area. We felt safe in this area, and were in short walking distance of the Spanish Steps, Pantheon and about were about a 40 min walk to the Colosseum. We stayed in the family suite, which was very large, with a king bed in one room and 2 singles in another (a perfect set-up for a traveling family). The hotel was very clean, had very good air conditioning, and the breakfast had a wide range of cereals, pastries, fruit, meats, cheeses, and a few hot items. What really sets this hotel apart, is the family that runs it. All email inquiries were returned promptly prior to our arrival and answered fully. While we were there, restaurants were recommended, information about the area and maps were provided, and one or more members of the family were available at all hours. Giuseppe was absolutely wonderful and attended to all our needs and questions. He even walked us out to our taxi on departure and stood on the corner to wave goodbye. All of the family was lovely, including Mamma Teresa who prepared the breakfast each morning with care. We truly felt like we were staying with family and appreciated our interaction with them as another true part of our Rome experience.

We booked a double superior room which was very spacious and had a nice sized bathroom. The wifi was good and there were a few English channels on TV. A nice breakfast is included. The staff are very helpful and make you feel at home. The hotel is in a good location, close to the metro, buses and the tourist bus. You can walk to Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. There is a laundromat about a 10 minute walk away, ask and they will explain where it is. You can do your own laundry or pay 11 euro to leave it with the laundromat and they will wash, dry and fold it. The hotel is in an upmarket area which feels very safe. Overall we had a great stay and I would look past this hotel when finding somewhere to stay.

We arrived at Hotel Golden in the early morning, feeling jet lagged, after a sleepless overnight flight from Singapore. We were surprised and very pleased to be offered immediate checkin even though the only room available that early was an upgrade from the room we had paid for. We were also given free breakfast that morning, so we had five free (substantial) breakfasts during our four night stay. We found the location of the hotel to be ideal, just around the corner from the top of the Via Veneto, so about 10 minutes walk from the Chiesa de Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini (the church with the bones) and also the Piazza Barberini, which is a stop for the hop on/hop off buses.
But best of all was the friendliness and helpfulness of the family who run this small hotel. It felt almost like staying with old friends, though we had never stayed there before. We would certainly stay there again if we go back to Rome, and have recommended the hotel to friends.

Room Tip: The 'General's Room' has shutters which open up onto a view of a bust of a Roman general, inset into the wall around the Villa Borghese - you instantly know you can be nowhere else but Rome.

This was a great family run hotel. Breakfast was included and amazing and kept us going all day. The family running the hotel were very helpful in every way. They arranged for our pick-up at the airport and then transfer to the pier for our cruise.
We are going back to Rome, Italy this fall and staying there again!!!

Room Tip: They had a total of 18 rooms and each one was a little different, ranging from a smaller queen bed to the larger rooms.

Second time at this lovely hotel, everyone is really helpful and friendly making you feel really welcome. The hotel is in a good position, easy to walk to several of the popular sights and with some good restaurants close by. Room was small but spotlessly clean and excellent air conditioning, really important in Rome in mid summer.
