“VERY COMFORTABLE ACCOMMODATIONS IN ROME”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

Hotel Golden was on Via Marche, about 15 minutes from the Spanish Steps and 15 minutes from the Trevi Fountain. It is located in an old building that is not exclusively a hotel. They have the entire 2nd floor and part of other floors also. Our Family suite was on the 3rd floor. There is a large entryway and a small elevator (lift) which we used to send up our baggage upon arrival. We were greeted by Giussepe who spoke excellent English. We were given a large key and a card to insert for the electricity (a monitor to record usage?). Whenever we left the hotel, we turned in our key. When we came back to the hotel, we rang the front bell and were buzzed in. Then they had to open the outer door of the room for us. This was slightly inconvenient for us, but not a major issue. Great amenities, including internet access, but each person had to have their own internet password and enter it each time we returned to the room. The staff, Giuseppe and Marco, were great with providing directions and recommendations. They recommended Il Pomodoro (we dined there twice) and San Marco, both right down the street. Rental car locations were also right around the corner on Via Sardegna. We rented a car to take to Tuscany. Make sure you get good directions to leave Rome. What's the deal with ice? Do Romans not like cold drinks?? The hotel staff seemed mildly perturbed every afternoon when we asked for ice, because I guess this is not customary in Rome. They had to retrieve ice from trays from Mama's room. I guess Mama likes ice and does not like to share. They should invest in an ice maker! Americans like ice! Mama cooked breakfast and Papa worked the early morning shift. Neither of them spoke English. Although we were expecting something meager at breakfast, we were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful assortment of croissants, yogurt, the best coffee, and many other choices. The croissants were filled with either honey, chocolate or preserves. They had hard cooked eggs as well as small portions of omelet with pancetta, for a little serving of morning protein. There were also small macaroons which were delicious. But the coffee was incredible. There was a carafe of expresso and a carafe of hot milk to make the perfect cup of Italian café-au-lait. Although the breakfast room was very small, it did not pose a problem for us. We met some nice people at breakfast also. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would stay there again.

Room Tip: We had the Family suite on the 3rd floor and it was very spacious. Two large bedrooms with a sitting...

Our family of four stayed in Hotel Golden for three nights in the end of our amazing trip to beautiful Italy. Though located right next to busy Via Venetto, the hotel is quiet and peaceful, due to Villa Borgese Park which is across the street from the building. It is also about 10 minutes walk from the famous Spanish Steps and around 15 minutes away from Trevi Fountain. The hotel is run by a friendly hospitable and helpful family, who made us feel very welcome. The two brothers, Marco and Giuseppe, gave us great recommendations on the local area, including restaurants. They helped us with a great city tour and arranged for the airport transportation. We stayed in the family suite, which was absolutely perfectly comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious with a good selection. We had to leave for the airport early in the morning, before the "official" breakfast time, but it was not a problem, because the night before Marco brought up for us a tray full of tasty fruit, yogurts, cheese, toasts, jams, etc. Thank you so very much, the Loria family, for making our stay in Rome even more memorable!

Room Tip: The family suite is huge, very clean and comfortable. Perfect for a family of 4.

We stayed for 3 nights and from the first moment I arrived, Giuseppe gave lots of good advice on where to go and the best way to get there, including drawing the locations on a map. The hotel is just off Via Veneto, walking distance to Metro and buses and we had little difficulty getting around Rome.

Thanks to their assistance, we saw everything we wanted to see on this trip to Rome, even though we really had only two full days in which to do it.

The beds were comfortable, the shower was good, it was clean and breakfast was a nice chance to plan the day over coffee, eggs and pastry. (There's also yogurt, fruit, cold cereal, meats and cheeses, I think, too.)

Arrivaderci, Roma! Having thrown a coin into Trevi Fountain, we know we will be back.

Room Tip: We had room 110, I think. The wireless didn't work in the room for the first two days but we di...

this is a small hotel clean hotel 2nd time that I have stayed there.. the rooms are small be really that's ok cause your not there to spend you time in a hotel.. Location is good to everything in walking distance. my only complaint is that the 2 brothers that run the front desk are not very accommodating and appear to be on the rude side.. I ask for some Ice and the guy said I gave it out and if I give more out we want have an from the morning.. I was like really!! so I said want do you want me to do and he didn't answer. He didn't offer anything. the father was near by and went and got me some.. He just didn't want to get so I want be saying there anymore..

My husband and I and our daughter and her family (3 children: 11, 10, and 4) loved our stay at the Hotel Golden. Our daughter stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite which was perfect for them and my husband and I had a lovely room on the main floor. The outside of the building is behind scaffolding but it was not a problem - we were there to see Rome and the location was great. The family was extremely helpful with regard to sightseeing, recommendations, etc.. and could not have been nicer. Breakfast was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly use it again.

A small quiet family hotel in a good location, rooms are nice, clean and neat but small.
Location is good and everything is within walking distance, staff is around 24 hours and are very helpfull, most speak english well.
Breakfast is good with lots of stuff to choose from and is server from 7:30.
This is not a hotel were you whant to spend your days, it is a place to rest when you are not exporing the city.
If you are looking for a party, this might not be the place.
