“Just the sort of place I suspect most of us are looking for in Rome”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Hotel Golden turned out to be exactly what we had been hoping for: a reasonably priced, attractive, comfortable, friendly hotel located in an appealing and safe part of Rome. The owner-operators (who live on-site in order to make sure everything is done right) are probably the most helpful and welcoming hotel proprietors we have ever met in our twenty or so annual trips to Italy.
Breakfast is generous (and with both American-style coffee and Italian), the rooms are very clean,
and the air conditioning (essential in the Roman summer) works well. There are many cafes and restaurants nearby and though the posh hotels of the Via Veneto are only a couple of blocks away, the neighborhood of the Golden retains a residential feel--you meet real Romans on the streets and not herds of cranky tourists from Wiesbaden, Tokyo, and Des Moines.
In short, the Hotel and its owners richly deserve their high rating on TripAdvisor. I know we will back one day!

Guiseppe and his family are amazing. They go out of their way to make you feel at home. Very few hotels are so focused on providing a great guest experience as is the Hotel Golden. Guiseppe does an amazing presentation showing you all the key sights to visit in Rome and circles them on the map. The breakfast is cooked by Guiseppe's mom and it is amazing. The family room is so spacious and is an amazing room with a great shower, comfortable beds and a dining table. The hotel has Wifi, is close to a few good restaurants and a grocery store nearby to pick up some key food items and water. There are also several buses within an easy walk if you don't want to walk 15 minutes to the Trevi Fountain or 10 minutes to the Spanish steps. Rome is an amazing city with all the culture, ruins, architecture and great people. The best hotel you can stay in is the Hotel Golden if you want a true home away from home.

Thank you Guiseppe again for the wonderful experience and for making us feel at home.

Stayed in the family room as we have 3 children. Comfortable and spotless. Kids loved their single beds. Bathroom was spacious and seemed new. Plenty of towels. Breakfast was good but tight to navigate. Location was perfect for exploring villa borghese, especially with kids. Staff were 5 star quality.

This small hotel is on the first floor of a residential building in a very good area in Rome, The location is excellent on the northern end of Rome just near the city walls. The staff are most welcoming and will help you with any questions, provide you with details of the best bus to catch and mark out things to see on a city map.The included breakfast is fantastic for Rome and included omelette, french toast and even tiramasu.
Just a 2star but spotlessly clean and comfortable

Room Tip: Room 102 was near the reception but we never had any noise. It overlooked a nice street

This is more than a hotel, it is a home away from home. The Golden family is truly one of a kind. Giuseppe, Marco and Alina and all their family are incredible and made our four night stay just perfect. The hotel is clean, comfortable and in a great location. They gave us great information and said to call anytime if we needed anything. The breakfast is awesome and Mama Maria even made my gluten free hot cereal every morning!! My daughter fell in love with Alina, who treated her so kindly. I can't say enough about the kindness the Golden family showed us. Stay here, you won't regret it.

I stopped in this tiny hotel to shake off my jet lag in transient to a spa.
What a jewel, so welcoming and charming with service beyond anything I could fully communicate in this review.

The basics: The location at the north city wall near the. Park borghese makes travel to every part of Rome simple by bus or metro. My room, the least expensive, no view, single bed was a sleepers paradise...well air conditioned amd the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom, designed like that onboard a ship adequate, though, laugh if you will, there is a need for more hooks.

Breakfast ! Delicious! And who are these cheerful people eating and drinking huge meals at 7:30 am...I was not one of them though I appreciated their friendliness.

The best part of this hotel...the care that this family takes of you...you are safe, comfortable, informed, and if you need help ( I did) , they will spend enormous amounts of time helping. Through the support of this hotel, Rome immensity is exciting and tractable.

We were in Rome for just two nights and booked Hotel Golden based on all the positive reviews. They are so true! This is a family run hotel, and they treat you like you're a dear relative. We arrived at almost midnight, and they greeted us with enthusiasm, patiently walked us through a map of the city, our location, the must-see sights, dinner recommendations, etc. They helped us with a dinner reservation at a local spot and coordinated taxi transportation to the train station on our departure - even waited with us for the taxi to arrive and explained to the driver where we needed to go. The rooms are small, but you have all you need - A/C, wifi, hair dryer, safe, fridge. Great breakfast included with lots of delicious options. The owners are so considerate and went out of the way to meet our every need.
