“A real luxury!”
Reviewed 22 July 2009

Hotel Golden was in a perfect location--about 5 minutes from the Borghese Gardens where there are museums, cafes, restaurants, playgrounds, bike rentals, etc. The rooms were spotless and all elegantly updated. The hotel staff was excellent and gave us perfect recommedations for any questions we had from dining to walking routes. Also a 5 min. walk from the metro and there's a cab stand around the corner, along with a cafe, small market, and numerous restaurants/bars/shopping. All this and breakfast included--what a great deal!

I have just came back from rome. I stayed in hotel Golden for 7 days and I think that was the best choice i could have done. The room was quite big, very clean and confortable and so was the bathroom. The breakfast was just great. The location very convenient, just a short walk to many attractions. The staff-especially Marko and Giussepe-was very friendly and helped us with everything we wanted. Tranfer to and from the aiport was great! I would definately stay there again!

After scouring trip advisor I came across Hotel Golden in Rome. Well ... I am now the next traveller to highly recommend this hote. A wonderful family run hotel in an excellent location in Rome. While were were in Rome the G8 was in town and this hotel is on the door step of all the 5* hotels but no doubt at a fraction of their asking prices. Easy to find, airconditioned and very clean. Room was small in size but fair for what you would most probably get in most smaller hotels. Marco and Guiseppi were most helpful and accommodating. If in Rome again, I would most definately reserve a room at the Hotel Golden again.

Stayed here for 6 nites in June22-24 and July 6-10, 2009.Great location to see all the sites in Rome. Very nice hotel with a good breakfast. Stayed in a very small room but it was very inexpensive (68 euros/nite). It has to be the best deal in Rome. Very clean and very quiet. Very helpful family that runs the hotel. I highly recommend the hotel, especially if you want to be close to all the sites and keep the costs reasonable.

We stayed in early June after reading Trip Advisor reviews. They were all accurate - a great location, a large room, excellent, cheap restaurant recommendations, good breakfast and staff who were friendly and helpful. Would stay again next time I'm in Rome.

My family of four stayed here for two nights at the end of a two week trip. TripAdvisor is one of our biggest resources and I am surprised that this (at current writing) ranks in the top 30 -- not that it isn't a fine hotel, but it is a small family-run business off the beaten track.
When you arrive, you must ring the bell at the outer entrance. The hotel takes up the first floor (what Americans would consider the second floor) of a building about two blocks from the Villa Borghese park. Once inside, you proceed up the stairs to another secured door, and there to the front desk. It is a very secure hotel - no worries there at all. The neighborhood isn't at all touristy (and there is actually a mens club down the street) but it was very safe. The only "beware" is that, while lots is in walking distance, the walk back to the hotel will be uphill!
The rooms, while small, were scrupulously clean. Another reviewer wrote that a long stay might be difficult with the space considerations but we had no issues for two nights, except my youngest child had a hard time with the small shower. Also, the toilet is only about a foot from the shower, so you might have difficulties if you have long legs.
The owner and his family were especially helpful, giving us a really good restaurant recommendation as well as booking a car for us to the airport for the morning of our departure for 50 euros.
If I had to change one thing about our stay, I would have preferred that my kids' room was closer to ours. We had room 102 and the two children were in 107, which was down the hall, around the corner, and down the hall again. However, the beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the owners were terrific.
It is not in the middle of the tourist district, but as others point out, not a far walk to the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, or the metro, and Villa Borghese is very close.

We traveled to Rome this May and found the Hotel Golden a great place to stay. The hotel is in a great location - very close to the Spanish Steps and Via Veneto. Our rooms were lovely and comfortable. The family that runs the place was friendly and extremely helpful with whatever question we asked them. We had a great time and the hotel certainly helped.
