On arrival in Rome for one night at the start of our tour we were greeted warmly and gushingly told we were " not customers but friends". Nice room and quite a good deal. On the return visit a few weeks later at the end of the trip we were dumped in a tiny stinky shabby room. Talk is cheap but the room was overpriced and too smelly for a friend.

Room Tip: Go next door.

Returned on our 2nd visit expecting it to be the same standard as 4 years ago but sadly dissapointed. It is more a boarding house than b & b. The room was dirty, bathroom door wouldn't close, breakfast poor and staff BO stench. Paid far too much for a 'dive'. The location is great but that is all. Certainly won't be returning.

It's difficult to find B&B Giovy. You need to follow the address number . the B&B's name was written in little box of the big apartment. But all in all, the hotel was really nice and warmly welcomed, all facilities u can find in ur room including refrigerator, hairdryer, air conditioner. We arrived Rome late at night around 22:30 and the guy open the door for us. Breakfast are okay. You can leave luggage here. You need to use many steps of stairs and use many doors.. Maybe difficult for ppl who has luggages. The warmly u got from Rome is valuable

This was a great B&B. We stayed only for one night as we had an early train to Venice, but the hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating and asked us to pick up breakfast (delicious cakes and an assortment of croissants, fruits, etc) as we were leaving before breakfast time.

It was located within walking distance from Roma Termini (about 7 mins walking) and was easy to locate. It is also known as Maryellen & Giovy, so don't be confused!

We came to this B&B on the recommendation from a friend. She was right! Loredana and her staff are warm and helpful. Because we had to leave for the train station at 0500, Loredana got up early to make sure we had caffe and some breakfast before we left. This is a no-frills, perfectly comfortable and quiet place near the Termini, but not TOO near. The rooms open into a hallway to an inner courtyard. We easily walked to almost all the historical areas and some great restaurants!

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet because they open into an inner courtyard.

I've stayed at various hotels on via G. Amendola, via Filippo Turati and via Principe Amadeo over the last ten or eleven years, some pretty good, some not so good. This hotel, known variously as B&B Giovy and Maryellen & Giovy is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown in this area.
On this occasion my party consisted of my brother, sister-in-law and myself and we were allocated two double rooms, one slightly smaller than the other but most definitely a double, both re-furbished to the highest level, each with toilet and showers which, slightly unusually for this part of the world, were of more than adequate dimensions with plumbing that worked efficiently, including copious supplies of hot water at all times of day.
The beds were comfortable and the pillows, sometimes sorely neglected, were of a high quality.
I would have to say that the breakfast arrangements, whereas adequate, were a little skimpy for U.K. guests but this was totally eclipsed by the friendliness and accommodating nature of the owner, Loredana, her family and staff.
I'm cutting my own throat here because to serve my own selfish ends I should be advising everyone to stay away from Maryelen & Giovy because as a fairly frequent visitor to Rome, I'll certainly be back as I stated in Loredana's Comments Book at Reception on the day of our departure after seven very satisfactory nights under her roof.

My husband, grandson, and I stayed at Giovy B & B for five nights. I was edgy because Giovy had recently received negative reviews, but we were well pleased. Our hosts were friendly and helpful, unusually flexible when we needed very early breakfasts for two days. The location, near the train station, was a great plus both for walking and for picking up buses and trains to other parts of Rome and to Tivoli. The European breakfast offered a range of choices. Our teenage grandson especially enjoyed the pastries. Our rooms were basic but clean, there were lots of hangars and a safe, and the beds were comfortable. I'd stay there again.
