Thought it might be a bit more upscale than it's 2 star rating due to the website. It wasn't. Couple who owns it are very nice and on hand at all times. All staff was fantastic and pleasant. The rooms are bare and tiny. Must pay 5 euro per night for A/C. A bit noisy in the morning, as the building has a working bakery downstairs and courtyard is theirs. However, for location, you really can't beat it. 15 steps from the Ottaviano Metro stop (2 stops later you are in Piazza del Popolo) 4 blocks from St. Peter's Square, 6 blocks from Museum entrance. Great restaurants in every direction (it is Italy...). Note: Airport shuttle is not included, costs 55 euro. Website made it seem otherwise.

We have really enjoyed our 4 night-stay at this hotel. The two men at the desk were very helpfull. Even though our room was quite small, but we were 2 adults, our teenage daughter and our 2 yrs old son and we could easily be in the room. We were out the whole day anyway. There was so much to see in this beautiful city.
This hotel is 2 min walk from the metro station and 5 min walk to the vatican. We took a tourist bus call Terravision from the FCO airport for 4 euros each, which is very cheap in comparing to the 40-50 euros in taxi.
Perfekt location, good places to eat everywhere! Enjoy your stay. :)

The 3 things I love about this place are as follows:
1. Walking distance to the Vatican and St. Peter's Square
2. Metro train and bus station is just around the corner
3. There are nice cafe's and restaurants nearby to grab food since the hotel has no restaurant inside. Note however that they can provide you if you order in advance. But to save you that hassle, there are panini/pizza houses just outside the hotel. You can see locals having their breakfast there. The hot chocolate drink is thick and is absolutely delightful!

Tip for those who will go to the Vatican Museum/St. Peter's Square:
1. To avoid the long queue during pick season, buy your ticket online. You will get an appointment so no need to fall in line.
2. Beware of ordering food in the restaurant in front of the Museum named Cafe Vaticano. It's a tourist trap. It will rob you off with their high prices (double/triple the normal price in other cafe's). For example a platter of fresh fruits which is normally around 3 Euros, it is 10 Euros in there.
3. For your gastronomic exploration, I highly recommend a restaurant located on the other side just outside St. Peter. It is named Cafe San Pietro. Great selection, delicious food, value for money.

We stayed for 3 nights for our first visit to Rome. Our room was a good size double very clean and comfortable. It is a simple hotel but we were only sleeping there as you are out and about all day.

Only a 5 minute walk from the Vatican and St Peter's square. There is a metro stop around the corner very accessable.

The staff were helpful when asked questions and did speak English. Could be abrupt but this is rhe general Roman Italian manner!

I would recommend Hotel Silla to anyone going to Rome.
The restaurant just down the street is fantastic. Full of locals, food is excellent!

I and my brother stayed in this hotel for 3 days during our trip to Rome. It is a nice hotel in safe neighborhood in very close proximity to Vatican and walking distance to everything else. Room was small but nice and clean; restroom - normal size though shower cabin was prety small but manageable for tall person :). Wi-fi, TV in the room for no additional charge; staff pleasant. Would stay there again.

Had a great time in Rome, and the hotel was kind, friendly, clean and above all expectations! The pastry shop on the ground floor was amazing! The beds were nice and firm, The shower was top notch,
We arrived late with two tired babies and and cranky teenager, but were treated like royalty all through the three night stay!
