“Grand hotel - Location a bit off”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

A very grand a beautiful hotel, spacious room, modern and clean. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly/helpful. The only real problem with this hotel is it's location (if you're a Rome tourist).

It is on a bus route, just 2 min walk round the corner and jump onto a 10 minute bus into the city.

This is quite a hard one to judge.

If you want to explore Rome then this is not the right place to stay. It's located quite far from town. From this hotel to the central part of Rome we were had to get a bus to the train station (10 mins) then get on a train (15 minutes) to get on the the tube network - then depending where you want to go you've got more time wasted plus there's the connection time.

As for its 4 star rating - well, they do have tennis courts, swimming pool, gym and prob a lot more, but i found the rooms dated and disappointing. Any travel lodge or premier room can offer better in my opinion - but how much time do you spend in your room? So this isn't a major issue.

Staff - reception staff seemed a bit cold and not to willing to help. Restaurant/bar staff - these were very pleasant and seemed to go out your way to help you.

Food - Only had dinner there once and it was very nice. Breakfast speared of good with plenty of sweet cakes.

Shower pressure - excellent, but sprays on to the floor.

We booked through B.A .... Disappointed at the location of the hotel as the BA web site stated it was closer to the city centre than it actually was. Their web site also showed modern rooms.

When we arrived we realized how far out it was. We had a 15/20 minute walk to the bus stop. The 913 came frequently so wasn't a problem to get to the city centre. Does take a while as every bus was overcrowded and stopped at EVERY stop.

The staff were very friendly So on arrival they were welcoming and very informative.

When we went to our rooms we were disappointed ..... They were in need of decoration !! We normally would staff Hilton etc but thought still staying in a 4* they would be ok. Were like a travel lodge...... I would like to add the hotel foyer etc were modern but rooms need upgraded.
We made the most of it as it was only for a base.

Breakfast was as stated basic but enough..... We ate lunch and dinners out. Had a wee drink/ bruschetta when we came back at 11 and the bar staff were really nice.

Overall it was ok as we were out from 10.30/11 till 11 at night. Wouldn't have liked to have stayed there longer than our weekend.

Cleaners up and about early so no long lies !!!! I suppose that suits most if it's a sight seeing trip :)

in the eternal city of Rome this hotel is very smart situated 5 km from vatican city and can combine the feeling of reaching city center easily and have living in an very unique building.
i found it easily using GPS and driving in a path which ending in this wonderfull garden surrounding the historic building which make you feel like knight .i have to admit that the rooms are spacious but old fashioned with some minor damages in sockets in furnitures but nothing importand, the breakfast was great with plenty of pastry variety.
At the end i must say that 55 euro double room per night in Rome with breakfast is great price and i will stay again there in my next trip.

A bit far from Old Rome and the tourist trail but a really beautifully designed hotel. We were reliant on public transport so it was a bit of a trek but actually very accessible thanks to the excellent bus network in Rome. We even managed to get back fairly stress free during a metro strike!

Just returned from a 2 night break via Travelzoo booking. A bit worried about some of the reviews but when we arrived we were very pleased indeed. Hotel reception staff were very helpful about buses and getting into the centre and gave us all the information that we needed. Yes the hotel is a 20min bus ride away from the centre but the bus stop is a short walk from the hotel and very easy to get to and from. Tickets available from the Tabac shop and get the 913 bus to and from the centre. The hotel itself is well set out, rooms excellent standard and the restaurant is good value and enjoyable food. Breakfast isn't English but you're in Rome so a continental is what you should expect. All in all a good stay and please make your own mind up and don't listen to negative reviews!

My wife and me stayed 4 nights in the hotel. We selected a superior room wich was clean and very nice looking. The cleaning service was very good, nothing to mention here. The breakfast was a selection of three kinds of sausages, one kind of cheese, around five kinds of sweets, fruit salad, yoghurts, cerelals etc. The wi-fi signal was not too strong but usable all the time we stayed there. The staff was friendly and kind, the receptionist was very kind to us, explained in detail how we can get to the town, gave us a map, showing any interesting points and public transportation areas from and to to the hotel. The hotel is around 45 minutes from the most interesting points and turist targets, counting the travel time and waiting time togother. We really enjoyed our stay.
