This is a pretty nice hotel. The location is the only down side as it takes 30 minutes to get to the city center. The staff is very Friendly and helpful. The breakfast is Nice. Great pizza in the hotel restaurant.

I don't even know where to start.
Although the transportation is easy, it's definitely not convenient. You have to walk a few blocks from the hotel to the bus station, take a bus to the Metro Station and then take the Metro from there. These busses and metros are hot and wall to wall packed. You'll be standing the entire time and squished against a lot of people you would rather not be that close to. Prepare yourself for a few hours of travel time everyday.
The hotel although tucked away (and impossible to find if your taking public transport) is in a park it is so incredibly loud at night. It's insane!! The gym has hundreds of
people coming in and out all day and it's blasting techno music so loud you can hear it from a block away. Every second day the garbage truck sits in the compound at 10pm compressing the garbage and waking up the entire hotel, the restaurant staff have their nightly drinks in the compound around 11:30 - 2:00am after they have closed the restaurant and to boot, the walls are so paper thin between the rooms that you can hear someone going to the bathroom in the room next to yours. You can count on being woken up multiples times throughout the night. Guaranteed!
The bathroom shower is about 2.5 ft x 2.5 ft and leaks an ABSURD amount of water onto the floor. We would use every towel we got and place them on the floor around the lining of the shower. We saved and had to share one remaining towel. The toilet bowl above the actual toilet leaked so you had to flush the toilet and run out of the bathroom quickly so you didn't get sprayed on. The shower had mold in it. The AC doesn't work. No mini fridge. No kettle. Maid didn't give us sheets. We had one fitted sheet then a stained filled blanket. None of the electrical fixtures were actually secured in the wall (you would flip a light on and the entire unit would pop outta the wall hanging there with live wire). Rooms are very plain, painted white walls with black scuff marks all over them. Not even a picture on the wall. Looks more like a dungeon. The pool only opens in July (although it was 30 degrees Celsius out). Restaurant is high priced for not a lot of food, nor does it taste all that good. Breakfast consisted of sugar glazed croissants and doughnuts, cake, some cereal and old sandwich meat. There are no restaurants around the hotel and the closest to are so poorly rated it wouldn't be worth your time.
We have been travelling through Europe for five weeks. Ireland, Germany, Spain and Italy. This was absolutely, by FAR, the worst hotel we have stayed in through our travels (if not ever). It doesn't get any worse than this. Read all the negative reviews! We made the mistake of disregarding them and it was a massive mistake on our end.
Only good thing about the hotel was the long haired man working the front desk. Polite and helpful. Gave us maps, directions, etc. We have to give him credit.

We stayed here with 2 friends for 2 nights. the rooms were spacious and clean and the hotel itself was really nice and upgraded. the location was distant from the city centre and definitely not 15 minutes by bus as it says on their website. we had issues taking transit to get to the hotel because their instructions on their website were wrong. Also, because it was May they did not have the air-conditioning on and the pool wasn't open which was very disappointing. otherwise it was great.

Took a chance on booking via Hotwire and ended up staying at the Excel Roma for three nights for £185, not bad for an advertised 4* on the outskirts of the city centre. Having read the reviews I was slightly worried about my stay, the hotel itself is quite tricky to find if your using public transport from Termini station. When we found the hotel with help from Google maps.. the building itself is quite impressive with well treated gardens and lots of sports facilities. We had booked a double room, looking at previous reviews confirmed it was two single beds pushed together which was fine. The room itself was very tired and in need a major update. Broken wardrobe, old style tv, bad signal and an old fashioned bathroom suite with a shower that saturated the bathroom floor after use. However working wifi in our room! so we didn't complain even after finding loads of hair all over the bed.. The breakfast is adequate and there was always something to choose from.

If you are travelling from Termini, my advice is take the Red A line metro to Lepanto station, you can connect onto the 913 bus right outside which will take you to the hotel. The stop you need is on the Trionfale road opposite a elemantary school, approx 20 mins ride from Lepanto. Walk along the pavement until you see the road name Via Degil Scolopi on your left. The unmarked track will lead you to the hotel entrance.

Overrall I wouldn't stay here again, we used the 913 everyday to travel down the centre which was fine, but i'm sure there's better hotels for the money paid.

I was looking for a hotel away from the city center as I am fed up with the noise. there is no noise. but location is somewhat distant from everything. you will need a car to get around rome staying at this hotel. it is 15 minute drive to the spagna steps.
Breakfast is terrible. do not go to breakfast there while evening restaurant is excellent. go figure
rooms are fine - seen better days I guess. will need an upgrade in a year or two. I had a suite which was large enough to accomodate all five of us.
staff were friendly but one I had at the checkout was unprofessional.
Excellent sport center if you care for one + five clay tennis courts (12 euros per hour in May).
free parking

Room Tip: no connecting rooms - take a suite when travelling with a family. they are spacious enough!
