“If you are looking for something cheap and in a convenient location then this is your hotel!”
Reviewed 20 May 2013 via mobile

If you are looking for somewhere cheap to stay in Rome, which is in a handy location then this hotel is ideal. It is fairly basic but it was clean and served the purpose of a bed for the night. It is labelled as a 3 star hotel. I am not convinced it is 3 star - I would say 2 star.

This hotel is located just on the other side of the Trastevere area, 5 mins walk from Trastevere train station and a few minutes walk from the tram station. The hotel is located on a street accessible by a couple of flights of steps so if you struggle with steps this is not the place for you. The hotel is situated on a quiet street but it is quite near to the main road. We were in room 212 and this was situated at the back of the hotel and not near the main road side and as a consequence we heard no noise at all at night. The area itself looks a little bit rough at first but we felt perfectly safe there.

You can get to the main Roma termini station direct from trastevere train station and this only takes 15 minutes and costs €1. From termini you have access to the underground network.

The trams are very good. They run every 5 or 10 minutes and the number 8 tram which stops close to the hotel will take you to Argentina, which is in the city centre (close to the Pantheon). This tram ride takes 10 minutes. There is also a bus (3B) which stops at the train station and takes you to piramide where you can take the underground (we did this to go to the colesseum. You can buy a one day travel card for unlimited use on the trams, trains, buses and underground or a three day travel card which we did costing €16.50.

The other great thing about this location is that you are close to the trastevere restaurant area, which is picturesque and has many restaurants at a reasonable price with fresher and better food than you would get in the centre. The closest tram stop to this area is Berri.

The hotel itself i would say has seen better days. The decor is worn and dated. If you are bothered about worn carpet and old fashioned decor then this is not the place for you. Having said that the room was acceptable, it was fairly small but it was clean, the shower was good, the air con worked and was fairly quiet (although it still wasn't very cold).

Wifi was available but it wasn't free. There was a choice of paying €5 for two hours of €10 for 5 hours which you could use at any time (not necessarily all at once) and I thought this was reasonable.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The rooms don't have safes but there is one at reception where you can leave an envelope of valuables.

We had breakfast at the hotel. For a cost of €6 it was fine. Nothing special but no different than most continental breakfasts that you get at hotels. The bread and croissants were fresh and nice and the cheese and meats were good.

On the first day we went to a pizza restaurant for lunch on the corner opposite the train station and it was very nice for a quick lunch.

In conclusion if you are looking for cost over luxury, and don't mind hopping on a tram, then I would recommend this hotel as a cheap place to stay with close access to the Trastevere restaurant area.

Good hotel. Good quality.
The rooms are not super impressive, but they have what you need, and that is good enought in Rome! The hotel standart (building all in all) is nice, and do not miss anything special.
The breakfast buffet is okay, not really good. No hot food, only bread, cake and fruit. Of cause coffee, tea, juice and water as well.
The location in Rome is not central, but it is SO easy to take the train (tram) to the centrum of Rome, and it take about 15 minutes to go there, depending on where you are headed.
All in all I think this was a nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the street, there is not so much noise! And non of the rooms has a good vi...

Mattress was a bit worn and the counterpane a bit dusty but the room was cozy, the bathroom functional and newly refurbished, the breakfast selection good (especially pastries). Friendly staff and convenient location on a hilly area of beautiful Liberty buildings, only a few minutes from the center via tram n° 8.
Car parking troublesome even if you are familiar with Rome.
Front desk 24 hours, which makes a difference compared to some cozy B&Bs located in the same area.

This hotel comprises to buildings, which isn't clear when you book. There's the main hotel and a few yards down a side street is a separate building, which is part of the complex. Both are clean and comfortable with the same facilities. The staff are very helpful and friendly. For the price you pay, you are getting a great location (away from central rome and close to the bustling trastevere district), clean rooms with good facilities. The hotel is close enough for a 3o minute stroll to the river tiber/central rome or it's right on the tram line, bus and train line. The breakfast is basic and could be a little better ( buffet - bread rolls, ham, cheese, cereal, croissant, pastries etc) but not bad.

Room Tip: If you want to be in the main hotel building - request it specifically

Food minimal & no choice. Room spartan with wornout carpets with holes in even on stairs.
Tiny corner shower cubicle with NO DOOR so floor was awash after every shower......
45 steps from roadway up to hotel (not mentioned in brochure) which were littered with cans,
wrappers & used needles.
Lack of staff i.e. the entire dining room was served dinner, plates cleared by just 1 man who was
also the barman and toilet cleaner & general dogsbody.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs unless you are fit enought to carry your bags up steps to hotel and if you enjoy...
