“Decent location. Nice roof-top terrace. Rooms clean but drab.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 June 2013

Disappointed to have one proper bed and one single temporary bed in a twin room. Room was clean but drab with poor lighting. Overlooked a very busy/noisy road. Well placed for Vatican, restaurants and cafes. Roof-top terrace was useful. Service from reception staff was mixed.

About a 15 minute walk from the Ottaviano Metro stop and pretty easy to find - even signage on the way. Hotel is on multiple floors of the building and the numbering system for the rooms was very strange. Check in was easy. Wifi available at the hotel check-in area and up in the solarium area. My room was not one of the average rooms. My bathroom was down the hall from my room. I did not have to share it, it was just for my room. There was a sink in my room however. The solarium was a very nice place to end the evening and relax with a group of people. Plenty of dining nearby and a walk less than 10 minutes will put you in the middle of St. Peter's. Also, only about a 20 minute walk to Piazza Navona on the other side of the Tiber.

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room that has an adjoining bathroom.

We stayed for 5 nights in Room 80 (on the 2nd floor) from April 12 to 17, 2013. The lobby area was quite awkward because we took the lift from 0 (ground floor) to 1 but then you have to go back down half a flight of stairs, which could be quite a hassle if you have a lot of luggage with you. Anyway, we arrived before 10 in the morning and were told that our room was ready. The staff were helpful and kind. You have to leave your key with the reception every time you leave the property but it's alright because the keychain was a very heavy bell-like block of metal. The room itself was small but then again, everything in Europe is small. The bed was a double bed (a little hard, but still fine). There was flat screen TV which sadly had only local Italian channels. Our bathroom was actually quite spacious compared to the room. The shower door was misaligned, but I managed to fix it. No fuss. Hot water was available and everything was more or less, just about what you need. The room had a balcony (with electronically operated blinds which was a surprise). WiFi was good on the balcony and by the bathroom window. Since it was cold at night, we left the blinds open just a bit at the bottom - no AC needed this time of year. The room was on the inner part of the building (facing the courtyard) so we had no problems with street noise. They cleaned the room everyday and changed our sheets and towels as well. Closet space was adequate and we had no problems with safety/security throughout our stay. The hotel is around a 10 min walk from the nearest train station (Ottaviano), and the Vatican is just around the corner. You can even hear the bells toll on a Sunday, which adds to the feel of being in Rome. There was a small grocery just 20 steps away and places to eat breakfast were abundant, especially along the streets leading to the Vatican.

Would I stay again? If I were on the same budget, definitely. If I had more money, then I'd get a more expensive hotel. Simple.

Hotel Adriatic's location is about as good as it gets in Rome, especially if you want to be close to Vatican City. There's a bus stop right in front of the building, and several other bus stops within a 2 or 3 minute walk, including all the double-decker hop-on hop-off tour buses. 5 minute walk to St. Peter's Square, 10 to the Vatican museums, 15 to Piazza Navona. Rooms were clean, and the staff very friendly. The only drawback is that they don't serve breakfast, but you know that when you're booking and there's a cafe across the street. There's a convenience store next door, which we found, well, convenient. Tons of restaurants nearby, especially in the Borgo Pia. The kids (10 and 16) loved the roof terrace. We were totally satisfied with this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony. Not all rooms have one.The balconies out back are huge.

Spent a week in Rome with my mom. This hotel was MUCH nicer than I was expecting for a 2 star hotel!! We were both very pleased!

Pros: *Great location- easily accessible via Ottavanio metro stop, literally 1 block from St. Peter's square, and just 10-15 minutes walk from Pantheon & all the main sights of the city. *Room was a decent size- had everything we needed- very clean, nice bathroom, closet, hair dryer, etc. Even had an amazing wrap around balcony out the window on which we could enjoy a bottle of vino! *Concierge staff was fantastic, spoke English, gave recommendations on nearby restaurants, as well as tips on sightseeing.

Cons: (and these are minor) *air conditioning could not be turned on (we were told that the building does not turn on A/C until June 1 (this has been the case in some apartments I have rented in the US...so while it was a bummer... nothing to be done about it), *poor wi-fi signal (#firstworldproblems).

Overall- the Pros way outweighed the Cons & I would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable, though being on the second floor it could be noisy as the city came awake. For a two star hotel it offered very reasonable accommodation in a very convenient location for sightseeing - we would certainly use the Adriatic again on future trips to Rome.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants convenient to the hotel, there is also a mini-mart (useful for bottled water, etc.) and a bank, with a secure ATM lobby, next door to the hotel. Tour bus stops near by, the Pantheon about 20 minutes walking time away, the Vatican/St Peter's Square is about 10 minutes away.

Have just returned after spending 5 nights here with my husband. Our room was large and very clean. My only criticisms of it are that it could have done with being repainted and having a better wardrobe and furnishings as these looked very cheap and of poor quality. That said, the hotel is ideally placed for sight seeing and has many restaurants close by in which to eat/drink. The hotel is very quiet despite being near to a main street and we managed to sleep well each night. Overall the hotel is good value for money, nothing fancy but a great place to start from if visiting Rome. I would have no hesitation in returning.
