“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 14 November 2012

School trip to Rome 1st Nov- 5th Nov 2012 (HOTEL SUMMARY AT THE BOTTOM)
After being redirected to this hotel after the travelagents overbooked a different hotel we were supposed to be staying (which looked horrendous) me and my classmates were expecting the worst.

However, we were PLEASANTLY SURPRISED to be welcomed into a small, clean but friendly reception area with good lighting and shiny marble floors (and possibly the cheapest value for money bottle of water vending machine in the entire of Rome, only 70 cents per bottle instead of 3.50 euro in and around town.)

The rooms were clean and reasonably well furnished- most rooms possessed a safe and a mini fridge of some sort, some a TV, and the bathrooms were clean and had showers. The beds were also relatively comfortable.

The breakfast was simple, a variety of croissants, bread and spreads- a selection of fruit salads and the option of 3 juices (blood orange, pineapple or grapefruit and apple) or a coffee, all from a machine. As far as I am aware we stayed for 5 nights at around £60 a night. I believe the hotel should definitely have its "Star" rating increased and it deserves it.

This hotel is perfect for a holiday if you are travelling in a group of any kind or need a base camp to rest your head for the night (if you're one of those city-roaming folk) but not if you are travelling with your signifcant other. Do not expect any added luxuries like Wi-Fi or breakfast in bed- me and my classmates are 90s kids and we survived without it for a good week, so I am sure you are just as capable of doing so too. It also made the trip a bit more fun and we socialised a lot.

In summary, a well located, pleasant and basic hotel. Arriverderci!

Bout a 10min walk max to hotel from Roma Termini, room was an adequate size, had a few issues with shower as water would spray outside the bathtub and onto the floor outside the bathroom, nothing a few towels couldn't fix. Breakfast was ok, staff were very helpful and were happy to hold onto our keys while we were out so we couldn't lose them, with someone at the desk 24/7 for those later nights returning to the hotel.

Having read reviews here, I was a little concerned to find we were staying here, but in practice it worked perfectly well. As there are only a few recent reviews its worth being a bit more detailed than usual. To start, the "professional photos" give a very good idea of how things look - same colour scheme throughout, and quite smart. Reviews before 2009 can be ignored as clearly things are much changed.

This is a budget hotel and some visitors' expectations are unrealistic - you do not get tea/coffee facilities in much of Europe (actually illegal in some countries!), and in such hotels WiFi is unusual and breakfasts are usually pretty plain. Here breakfast offered a fairly wide range of choice -- meats and cheese slices, croissants, breads, wide range of jams etc, (tinned) fruit salad, choice of machine coffees etc (some OK, some less so!), choice of 3 fruit juices, cake, fruit tart, etc. - not great but very reasonable and better than some. Breakfast room is smart and well serviced.

Reception foyer is very pleasant and quite elegant, plenty of seating, secure holding room for storing pre-departure luggage including use of toilet/wash facilities. Receptionists were all pleasant and helpful - even coming outside to help with giving directions, always marking maps, and helping with bookings etc. No problems and very pleasant to deal with - English OK if not totally fluent.

Location is as described by others - handy for most transport, 10 mins to Termini for all Metro, buses, trains, open-top bus tours etc. and some sights (eg. National Museum)... but not really near the main tourist attractions. Plenty of restaurants in the area - a 5 minute walk gives a very good range. There is a morning market in the street outside the entrance - but the double glazing is very good and noise should not be a problem, and its nice to be able to buy really fresh fruit on the spot (eg. cherries at E4/kg) otherwise buying these can be quite inconvenient.

Talking to others staying, it sounds as if most rooms were like ours - not large, and with a relatively small bathroom, but very clean (our bathroom was fully tiled and sparkled!). Bed sheets etc renewed every ?2 days we think, used towels daily, and everything really well cleaned. Less good was the small old TV with just 3 channels and no remote, no full length wardrobe (only half length), limited minibar, and very basic quality bathroom accessories like soap and shampoo (definitely they need to do better on these), and only an over-the-bath shower with no curtain (a strange choice as fitting a rail and curtain would be fairly cheap!). Air con worked OK. Furniture is brown but in quite smart looking with a black inlay pattern. Overall, a pleasant very clean room but a bit deficient in contents.

We agree with the review here by Lilit M., and overall the hotel was a pleasant surprise. For its price range it worth a score of 4, recognising this is in the budget range so expectations need to be relative to this.

Room Tip: Probably avoid ground floor rooms if possible.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in May 2012, and was very disappointed for the money they charge. 180euro for a room in which the shower did not work, the tv was very old (with no remote and only three Italian channels), no internet access and seemingly we were unexpected...although we had booked they could not find us on their sheet. There was also a gap in the ceiling where we could see through to the space between our ceiling and the floor above. I thought maybe this was the going rate and standard of hotels in Rome, but one night we stayed in a much nicer hotel which was more central, cleaner, better facilities and cheaper (by 40euro per night). For this money I would have expected much more, including tea/coffee making facilities (this is the first hotel I have stayed in which had no tea/coffee making facilities) and working air-conditioning. I definitely won't be staying in this hotel again.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August 2009 while travelling in Italy with my 12 yo daughter. Was satisfied with everything - very clean rooms, clean and new bathrooms, nice and polite employees, good breakfast, GREAT location just next to the Republic square and Taormina station. Very close to the main shopping streets ...In case i visit Rome again, i'll be happy to stay at the same hotel.

The hotel is situated as much as 10 minutes walking distance from the termini c.station.
The rooms are small but i think it is considered a standard size room for this money in Rome.
We arrived for a vacation with my father. we had booking for 4 nights.
At the beginning it all seemed quite decent, though the receptionists (each one of them) couldn't even broke down a simple sentence in English,
Although late afternoon on the first day the air condition broke down.
While reporting this to the reception,
the first reaction was a denial which was followed by a promise that it will be fixed by "bed time".
"Bed time" arrived and the air condition was still not operating.
The receptionist offered us a different room, and while escorting us
he "realized" that's it is actually a general problem of the whole hotel.
The stuff kept lying to our face threw all the first two days on which we decided to leave.
That was probably the worst costumer service experience i have ever had.

All in all a great little hotel, situated in the very centre of Rome. Not far from the Central Station, not far from anything, in fact. Room was very nice and the size was good. Breakfast was as can be expected.

Only thing that could have been better, was the fact that the airconditioning didn´t work and we stayed there in the middle of a heat wave.
