“Great location but no "B & B" character--the place is adequate.”
Reviewed 19 September 2010

Excellent location. Adequate rooms. A bit overpriced for what is offered & indifferent service.

Unlike many other B & Bs we've stayed at, this one appeared to operated as an absentee landlord type situation. In for a few hours everyday (from 9 am to 2:00 pm) and then gone. The office is adjacent to the four rooms & the owners(?)/hired people who run the place seemed to be little bit put out becasue we were not able to arrive and check during "their" 9-2 hours (we arrived at 4:30 pm).

The rooms were not decorated nor were there any personalized touches (other than all of the black marks all over the white walls from suitcases). If the look was intended to be modern it was more dormitory. However,it was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the room equipped with airconditioner. It was not hot enough to run the AC so we tried to sleep with the windows open & had to use earplugs because of the noise. The bathroom was clean and adequate. The halls have no ventilation and room area was very stuffy. There is no proper centralized "sitting area" - just a desk, a chair and a chair and a telephone. The wireless internet (one of the reasons we booke) did not work the four days we were there.

We read many positive reviews and decided to book the room based on those reviews. We did not have "horrible" expereince, but we would not stay there again. If you are looking for a safe, clean room in an excellent location and do not want or expect other B & B type touches, this place is OK.

This is a belated review of a truly terrific B&B and bargain accommodations in the incredible city of Rome. Located in a seemingly out of the way street in the Trastevere, the Arco del Lauro provides a great "base camp" for a Roman Holiday. The price is right, there's homemade Lemoncello in the fridge and the ladies who run this establishment know when to be available and when to be scarce, making you feel like you are actually living the dream in your roman villa.

I was in Rome for 5 days in November 2009 and chose the Arco del Lauro for it's price (100 eu a night I think) and the location in the famed Trastervere neighborhood. If you go, allow the propreitors to arrange a cab pick up at the airport, as it will be hard to find the first time. The fee includes a continental breakfast at a neighboring cafe (sit down only), coffee, yogurts, juices and that Lemoncello in the fridge, and internet access. Accommodations are simple and clean. The hotel is located on a quiet street, near the Tiber and across from the Jewish Ghetto. Staying there will make you feel like a "native" in no time!

We were recommended Arco del Lauro by some friends and we are so pleased we took their advice.

It’s situated in an ideal location for exploring both the Trastevere neighbourhood (a real highlight of Rome) and the rest of the city centre (250m from Tourist Information, tram, bus and taxis, a short walk to all the main sights) yet its setting makes it feel as though it is tucked away in a small town, with all the hustle and bustle of city life seemingly a long way away.

Extremely friendly staff went out of their way to help wherever they could (from my initial enquiry through to departure and beyond) and it has all the facilities one would require for a few days exploring this great city, including free Internet access.

If you are looking for clean, simple and friendly ‘City Break’ accommodation in Rome then you won’t go wrong here.

Arco de Lauro is a wonderful B&B in the Trastevere area of Rome, which is a pleasant walk to all the main attractions. The restaurants in the area are less expensive and very good so we ended up coming back for dinner each evening. The breakfast is at a cafe nearby which gets you out to enjoy the neighborhood in the morning. It was very hot when we were there so having the air conditioning working really well was a plus considering many places in Italy don't have it. There's a refridgerator with complimentary drinks and free internet, both greatly appreciated. Daniella and Lorenza are both very helpful and very pleasant to work with.

Arco del Lauro was my favorite Inn during my family's recent tour of Italy. On a quiet little street in the charming Trastevere neighborhood, we enjoyed the perfect combination of serenity with easy access to all of the sights. We had a nice, big, clean, air conditioned room, that comfortably slept our whole family. Lorenzo was kind enough to add an extra bed so that the five of us could all stay together. We had easy access to her free wifi, and there was also a computer in the common area available for use. We enjoyed our morning cappuccinos and pastries down the street on the terrace of a local bar, price included.

Lorrenzo was a fabulous host, answering all of our questions, providing maps and recommendations. 'Couldn't have asked for a better stay or a more enjoyable location. The price was good too!

Very cute hotel/B&B located in the heart of Trastevere. Nice, modern rooms and bathrooms. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant and was more than willing to accommodate us with any help that we needed. Perfect place to stay to really enjoy Rome and get away from more of the touristy areas. Highly recommend!

We had a great time at Arco del Lauro -- we spent 4 nights here in early August 2010 on our honeymoon before catching a cruise out of Civitavecchia. This B&B is in a charming location on a side street in Trastevere, off of the main paths and out of the tourist areas but still within 1.5 miles of all the major sights in Rome and near what felt like thousands of awesome little restaurants. The rooms are small but well-equipped and comfortable, with a very quaint feel. Breakfast is at a bar around the corner and consists of coffee or juice and a croissant -- the red orange juice is from Blood Oranges and is more tart than I am used to but was delicious. Lorenza was our host and she was very personable and provided lots of info and recommendations about Rome and the immediate area.

A couple of minor complaints that did not take away from our experience: we had booked a "superior" room but there was a mixup with our reservation and we had a "regular" room for the first night, which was a little small for us and for some reason the internet access wasn't very good. We switched to a "superior" room for the next few nights which was the perfect size and where the wifi seemed to work much better. Our "superior" room also faced the street which did lead to some occasionally significant noise from the streets, but we were so tired from walking miles and miles each day that it never interfered with our sleep. But that might be an issue for light sleepers.
