A wonderful hotel with pleasant and helpful staff at hand. Pecfectly positioned for the Vatican. Top tip - Book a guided tour of the Vatican and relax in the restaurant, enjoying the superb buffett breakfast as the queues form outside. Then walk around the corner and then straight into the Vatican with a tour guide - perfect. The Hotel provides a shuttle service to and from the airport - again, well worth the 10 euros person. It all makes for a hassle free arrival to Rome. Once the Vatican has been explored, the Metro has 2 stops, both less than a mile away. This will take you into the heart of Rome and the other splendid sights on offer.
Final Top Tip - visit the Old Bridge Ice Cream shop opposite the Vatican wall and about half a mile from the hotel, towards the Castel St D' Angelo [ Not the one immediately next to the Hotel - rip off ]. Enormous ice creams for just 2 euros and a popular meeting place for all.

We stayed just a night but what a great experience - certainly would have like to stay longer and will go back. The hotel is very clean and very well equipped with all usual creature comforts. Huge bathroom with power shower was particularly impressive. Friendly enough (and rather beautiful!) staff and spacious, air conditioned public areas to meet and chat with fellow travellers. Fans of Dan Brown and Michelangelo should certainly head for this place - particularly if you want to be the first in the Q for the vatican museums - a mere 30 yards from the hotel entrance!

This hotel was great from start to finish! I arranged the hotel to pick us up at the airport, which only costs 10 euros a person! The driver was there just after you clear customs, with a sign with our name. The staff was great, they allowed us to check in very early, which was great because we flew all night. Also, the staff was very helpful with any questions we had. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I've had in Europe. To top it off, the location was great! I would recommend to pre-pay and save yourself some money.

I really wanted to like this hotel -- my sister highly recommended it, and it has such great reviews on Trip Advisor.

I'll start with the positives. It is, as others have noted, a conveniently located hotel across from the Vatican museum. The rooms are relatively clean. The breakfast is OK. They have a computer for guests' use, which is convenient. Rooms are a good size when compared to other hotels in historical buildings.

Unfortunately the service was pretty poor, and we didn't have major requests or demands. Every other hotel (of 5) we stayed in in Italy had great service, so I know it is not standard for hotel employees to be rude. After an indifferent reception and no offer for anyone to take our bags (not a huge deal, but odd since this had been offered at all three of the other small inns/B&Bs/boutique hotels we stayed at) we had to ask the front desk four times over several hours to please shut off the heat to our room. The front desk guy insisted that there was "nothing wrong" with the temperature in our room but if he had actually once taken the time to come to the room (or asked someone else to) he would have realized he was wrong far before the fourth request, when he finally turned it off. (The room was still extremely hot and we didn't sleep very well). The woman in the breakfast room kept asking if we were done before we had finished our meal, and rolled her eyes at me when I politely asked for a second cappuccino. The girl at the front desk was equally rude when we asked (again, politely!) if we could have some extra time checking out of our room. It's OK to say "I'm sorry our hotel is full"; it is NOT ok to bark "half hour. Maximum!"

The hotel is also on a busy street so it's very noisy, even in our room that was on the opposite side. We stayed at two other hotels also conviently located in Prati that were much quieter.

We needed to stay one extra night in Rome because of the volcano issue. We would have loved to stay in the same place to see more of Rome rather than take the time to schlep our luggage to another hotel -- but we just couldn't bear being in this negative place one more minute. There are plenty of lovely hotels in Rome with excellent service (and frankly better decor) for the same price.

We stayed in The Alimandi last easter. I was really worried about booking a good hotel as we had never been to Rome before. I read reviews for this hotel and was really impressed by the comments. I wasn't disappointed. As I have kids and I'm really fussy anyway I expect cleanliness and comfort as a main factor in any hotel stay.
The location was amazing, you can literally watch the queue for the vatican grow as you eat breakfast! We had a wonderful day visiting the vatican and literally walked (exhausted) around the corner back to our hotel.
The rooms are not luxurious but clean and well equiped
Staff were just lovely and very accomodating
We liked to sit in the lobby after a day sightseeing and have coffee and biscuits!
There is a very nice roof terrace for smokers.
All in all this hotel is really lovely, everything is close by, a short walk takes you to all the buses you can get just about anywhere in the city.
I intend to go back with family again and would without hesitation recommend this hotel!

This is a well kept hotel. The beds, bathrooms, towels were all excellent and the whole hotel is immaculate. The decor is lovely and the pictures on the walls by an italian artist ( I think called Tamburrino) are fantastic. The staff are very polite and friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Vatican City.

Lovely Hotel, huge comfy bed, quiet room and cool bathroom! Very helpful and cheerful lady on reception initially, other staff on reception and waitresses at breakfast not as good but didn't put me off. Brilliant view of Vatican exterior and the hub of people coming and going. Breakfast was basic in terms of choice but pleasant & filling enough. Roof top felt like our own - no-one else ever went up there, it's an amazing thing to have! Travelled to other parts of Rome by bus which was v easy to do and good fun -would highly recommend this Hotel.
