The Inn At The Roman Forum

Everything in Rome is expensive and whilst this hotel is no exception it is very good value for money too.
From the moment of booking this hotel I was not disappointed with personalised e mails confirming my reservation and acknowledging personal requests for room selection.
On arrival( yes its a bit tricky to find, but 20 mins walk from Termini station ) we were welcomed with a fruit juice drink whilst allowing us to wander the hotel's own ruins whilst awaiting check in completion. We were then informed of our upgrade to executive room( amazing, with one of the biggest beds ever laid eyes on let alone laid in) and were led to the room. This hotel only has 13 rooms but I have to say our room was elegantly decorated with plush furnishings, with all the usual and to be expected personal little luxuries. Robes slippers and mini bar.... and good old English breakfast tea together with a plethora of flavoured teas!
The room was set on the second floor at the front of the hotel and was very quiet indeed. The roof terrace was beautifully laid out, even in Autumn October. There was a complementary buffet each afternoon with the purchase of a drink and I ahve to say the cost again was reasonable.
There is free wifi in hotel lobby useful for pre booking tickets and skipping long queues for teh Vatican and the most friendly and helpful staff members from start to finish.
The hotel is set just 10 minute walk to Colusseum, Forum and Palatine and about 15 to Trevi. It really is ideally located whilst being set peacefully away from hustle and bustle.
If you dont need meeting rooms, conference facilities, gymn, sauna or pool...this really is the hotel for you. You wont be disappointed and personally in my top 10 favorites across Europe.

Room Tip: E mail ahead and make your request direct to hotel even if booking through other websites.

One of the most unique places I've stayed in Europe. A hotel with its own ruin is pretty hard to come by. The rooms each have a unique, but extremely well-designed decor and are very spacious for such an urban location. Speaking of location, it's about a 2 block walk to the Colosseum and half that to the Forum. Also, the rooftop lounge, patio and garden area are a nice oasis that gives an open-air feeling rare in a city like Rome.

Alll this is great, but the service at the hotel was truly top notch. I would expect this to be the case during the stay, but I was really surprised at the service after my stay: I left some belongings in my room, and they were promptly mailed to me free of charge (overseas, I might add) and with a very helpful attitude on top. Can;t wait to stay at the Inn again!

We have recently come back from Rome. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary.
We stayed at the Inn at the roman forum. We have read a few negative comments relating to the staff being rude etc. Please let me put this straight. We had a bit of a booking incident where we turned up to find they had no idea who we were (blame thomas cook for that one)
The girls on reception were fantastic they sat with us on the phone trying to call England to find out where the bookings were for hours getting the we value your call speech from the Thomas cook customer service line. But eventually we got it sorted out all thanks to the staff, we did lose our choice of our rooms but the one we got was small but really nice. The best thing about this hotel is the location. We were litrally 2 mins walk from the forum and we had seen 4 of the big sites in about 2 hours.I would recoment this hotel to others going to rome. While you are there also check out their sister hotel inn at the Spanish steps, which is a 10 second walk to the spanish steps and is located in the high end shopping area which we took full advantage of.

Room Tip: Make sure Thomas cook don't mess up your booking

What a delight, hidden away in a location second to none. Quiet, elegant and attentive to guests' needs. Easy walking distance to some of Rome's greatest sights (The Collosseum, Forum and more) as well as to the "untouristed" local scene. An added bonus is an actual Roman structure on site. A little gem.

Room Tip: ask for a garden room

This hotel is a short walk away from the Roman Forum, behind the Forum of Augustus and Trajan's Market. Every aspect of this hotel is outstanding. It is up a small hill from the forum on a cobblestone road that can only be maneuvered by the cleverest of Roman drivers as it has step at one end of the road. On arrival you are greeted at the desk by one of the two most helpful people we met in our entire stay, Hildur (day) or Angie (evening). I can't imagine how we would have managed our trip without the help of these two women. They advised us on locations to see, times to go; they helped us make reservations, buy tickets. They recommended tours for us, including a spectacular guided tour in a beautiful air-conditioned Mercedes that allowed us to see in one day what it would take most people a week to see. They arranged for our special needs. They bought us groceries from a local store that we needed for snacks. They clued us in to the best nearby restaurants. They were, in fact, the heroes of our vacation, along with all the other excellent staff at the Inn. We arranged to get into the room early so we had a place to crash at 11am following a flight. The Innprovided us with free airport transportation since we were staying 5 nights. The room was an "Executive" at the front of the hotel, was very large with a great couch to lay down on, and a great sitting area with a desk. The bed was a king and, in my only complaint, somewhat firmer than I prefer. The room was decorated pleasantly, with great wood ceilings and a fireplace. The wifi worked (mostly), and they lent us a laptop one evening so we could watch a DVD be purchased at one of the sites. The roof-top garden and terrace was extremely pleasant, as was the common room. The breakfast was good, with fruits, meats, cheeses, but especially eggs and bacon. Yay! There is a small elevator, which helped my wife, since she is not as mobile as I am. The bell staff, especially Elmer, was extremely helpful in getting our bags in and out, and running errands for us, and helping out whenever we needed something. Everyone was friendly, addressed us by name, talked to us when we needed someone to talk to, and made our stay in Rome truly wonderful. In all honestly, if it weren't for Hildur and Angie, our vacation would have been only a fraction as great as it ended up being. I highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Garden rooms are quieter, but our Executive Room with a view out front, was outstanding!
