This was our first stop on a 3 week holiday and it set the standard. Room size was adequate, great location and one of the best complimentary breakfasts. WIFI worked well. Only complaint was the bed was very hard. Staff were great. I would not have a problem staying there again and would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for one night in July before leaving Italy. Very close to Termini station which was a plus since we were easily able to take to train to the Airport with no worries and avoid an expensive cab ride. Room was very spacious and clean. The neighborhood leaves a little bit to be desired, due to it's proximity to the train station can be a little be seedy but we never once felt unsafe. Within walking distance to many fabulous sights, restaurants, and neighborhoods. Price was very reasonable for what we got.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights around Christmas time. The hotel is quite near from Termini, but it is in a quiet area situated in the opposite side of the busy hotel area around Termini. The room was not so big but spacy for two relatively slim adults. The bathroom was heated from beneath so it was warm, which was our delight. The breakfast was very nice including authentic Italian salami, ham and cheese, cooked eggs. One of our favorites was blood orange juice, which was squeezed by the staffs --- really fresh! Contrary to others' review, we didn't find the receptionists were so helpful, although they were polite. Finally, the best thing with this hotel is location. It is very near to Termini, which helped our both inner and outside city transportation.

I stayed here for 5 nights, December 2013 and can't say enough nice things about this hotel. Let me start by saying the staff here goes above and beyond for their customers. I was experiencing a rough patch in my travels due to airline delays, lost baggage, etc. Everyone that I dealt with during my stay was so helpful and accommodating. They really helped me make the best of what was a difficult situation!

Location is perfect. 5 min walk from main train station (very convenient for train to airport), also 5 min walk to both A and B metro stops. The hotel is situated in a place that I felt safe walking around day and night in. As a woman traveling alone that is important! Room was larger than any others I stayed in during my trip through Europe and was clean and well maintained. Business area and gym were also very nice. Wish I would've noticed the sauna before my last day! Will absolutely stay here again when I return to Rome!

One little additional tip for people new to Rome. There is a direct train from the airport (Leonardo Express) to the main train station (Termini) that costs 12 euros. A cab costs upwards of 50 euros. Save yourself the headache of Rome's shady cabs and some cash and take the train. If you can manage your luggage to the train you can get from Termini station to hotel Diocleziano easily.

Thank you Hotel Diocleziano for helping make my stay in Rome so memorable!

I've been in Italy and specifically in Rome many times before and this hotel is one of the best in terms of service and location for a VERY reasonable price.
Location close to Termini station gives a chance to use Leonardo express to and from the airport, City Tour buses and shattles to outlets also come from here. At Terminy all the necessary stores (like pharmacies, et c) are always open, which is important in Europe for those who are used to 24/7 service. All the main tourists' attractions (Forum, Mercato Traiano, Villa Borghese, Via Veneto, shopping area, Spanish steps, Piazza del Popolo, Fontana di Trevi et c) are in walking distance.
The hotel is very comfortable, very clean, tea/coffee facilities and free soft drink bar in the room are a great plus. But it was the service and friendly attitude of staff that impressed us the most. Everybody speaks very good English, all the employees are very friendly, polite and ready to help. They make you feel yourself at home. I also got help ordering an excursion and a table in one of the best reataurants of Rome. Guess theater tickets, guides and any kind of transfers are also not a problem :)
For a dinner or lunch just 50 m away from hotel I would recomment La Familia restaurant on the same street, authentic and affordable.
Will be definitely staying here again.

We found this perfect hotel through Tripadvisor of course, and we want to make sure others will enjoy Rome the way we did, many thanks to Hotel Diocleziano. We stayed at the hotel for six nights during the 2014 New Year’s celebration time. The location was great – in a walking distance from all the city center attractions and yet, it was not too crowded. The rooms are great, breakfast is very good, the hotel is beautiful decorated and most of all – we enjoyed the very friendly, helpful and lovely people among its staff. Many Thanks

The room was very clean and very small. The reviews I read were accurate about the helpfulness of the staff and the appearance of the hotel. You are not centrally located near the major attractions but taking the bus, train or taxi is very easy from this location. Doreen at the front desk was very helpful and Marylou and Imelda in the dining room prepared a very good breakfast and were very attentive. The price was a very good value. The only knocks I have were the room size and the bed was hard--otherwise a great place.

RomeGR, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at Hotel Diocleziano, responded to this reviewResponded 7 January 2014

Dear Guest,

First of all we would like to thank you for such an enthusiastic review! We are glad that you were pleasantly surprised and satisfied by our Service, and that you found that other reviewers were correct in compliment our staff for their attentiveness and care.

Just to give our future customers some further insights on our property we would like to take this chance to explain a couple of your notes.

As with all the information provided on our website, our room sizes and location are well depicted and describe at length, including pictures and a map of our location. We are therefore sorry that you have found our room to be on the small side and our location to be a bit distance from the main tourist sites.

Unfortunately we could not trace your reservation in our system, however we can confirm to our future Guests that our rooms have different sizes, raging between 11m² of the Economy to the 19m² of the Deluxe Room. At the moment of reservation it is possible to view all the detailed information regarding our rooms and also view the different pictures which come with the description. Also, in case Guests prefer to have further details or have specific needs, our receptionists are available 24h a day and are ready to answer all questions so that customers may book the best accommodation for their travel needs.

Same goes with our location. We are sorry that once checked-in you realized that we were not on the doorstep of the main sites, such as the Colosseum or Piazza Navona. However, as emphasized but the map and the directions provided, we are very close to Termini train station, which is the main hub for busses and undergrounds that go all over Rome. Said this, it is still very possible to walk around Rome from the hotel, in fact all the most major sites are only a short downhill stroll away and can be reached within 15-20 minutes on foot.

Regarding the bed, we are sorry that you found it to be very hard. We cannot but stress once more that for any particular need while at the hotel we are always available to satisfy our Guests. In your case, having known about your discomfort during your stay, it would have been easy to solve the problem by adding a padding on top of the mattress which would have eased your nights’ sleep.

Said this, we are very pleased to know that you found our hotel to be clean and up to your standards for the service and breakfast quality. We hope to have you back soon as our Guest for another fabulous holiday in Rome!
