Very nice hotel with a excellent location (near from Termini Station). The front desk staff was very kind and helpful, specially Maria, who scheduled the tours to Florence, Naples and Pompei for me and my wife. Breakfast was very good too, and was served by a kind waitress (Marylou) who made fresh red orange juice and capuccino to us. The room is a bit small, but cosy. Io tornero` presto.

Nothing was too much trouble for the chaps at Hotel Diocleziano. Located 5 minutes from Termini station, the hotel offered great accommodation and a hearty breakfast.

Our room was comfortable with a tea tray and some soft drinks and water in the fridge too. The bathroom had a whirlpool bath and shower attachment. We did try out the bath, but it wasn't that great. A separate shower would have been better, but it was fine.

The breakfast was buffet style and there was a choice of pastries, toast, ham, eggs, cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereals and drinks.

We needed to print out our boarding passes and the receptionist just asked us to forward the attachments and we collected them at reception.

As identified by another Tripadvisor reviewer, the street near the hotel seems to be the local spot for gents? to urinate. I agree it is no fault of the hotel, but just a shame when you walk out of the front door and to the right.

For treats for family and friends pop to the local supermarkets; there is a spar at Termini. The prices will be much better than the airport.

There are a selection of restaurants around the area to cater for all tastes and pockets too. With the train station and metro right on your doorstep, the location is tough to beat.

Search as often as possible for great reviews of Rome hotels, but it will be unusual to find one with the amenities [and the excellent prices] of this wonderful place:
The staff is continually helpful in ALL regards, from welcome to suggestions to answers to experience to good ol’ hospitality.
The daily breakfast is well-prepared, tasty, and full of offerings for all sorts of healthy delights.
The rooms are, in fact, roomy—especially by European standards; plenty of space for a large, comfortable bed, closets, big classy bathroom, TV, small refrigerator, plenty of great towels [and even slippers!], plus a daily cleaning.
The hotel’s location is a mere five-minute walk from the central “Termini” railroad station, and the quiet side streets are full of small, excellent eateries, plus shopping and entertainment.
At the end of each of our ten days, we gladly returned to this warm-hearted “home away from home”…and we would recommend it to anyone. So, yes: grab it for all the right reasons!

I don't like to give bad reviews because of area but unluckily but everyone seems to urinate outside the building. I know the hotel has no control and if you walk the other way there is no problem but.... The hotel rooms are small as in all hotels in Rome. Clean rooms, in good condition. Staff is friendly. Not too informed on restaurants. All in all a good experience.

Dear Guest,

We are sorry to understand that you had this kind of experience during your stay. Unfortunately, as you have well expressed, we cannot control the behavior of passersby. It seems that this kind of problem is very common in every city of the world and it should be a priority for city mayors to address this issue. So far we have to admit that no guest has reported people acting like this on our actual street, but regrettably as of today there is not much that we can personally do.

Regarding the notes on our hotel itself, we would only like to underline once more the fact that we do have various types of rooms and that in case customers may require further information on the correct accommodation to book for their travel needs, that our reception staff is available 24/7 to help with bookings so that once at the hotel no “surprises” will occur.

As for the restaurant, we gather that you found our staff knowledge and suggestions not sufficient for your needs. Normally guests tend to appreciate the few restaurants we point out but we understand that if customers are looking for something particular we might need to take the time and look into the request so to suggest a more specific restaurant.

We do hope that your memories of Rome will not amount only to this negative note reported and that you will have more pleasurable moments to cherish.

It's a really nice hotel. Location is just fine very near from central station, very very kind reception, good service like free mini bar (amazing!), and breakfast is really delicious. Only one bad thing for me is small room and very small shower room. But over all, this hotel is just fantastic.

The Diocleziano turned out to be even better than we expected. First, the location: it's between the Termini train station and the Villa Borghese, a walk--a long walk, but still--to the Borghese or the Vatican. Plus, with the Termini so close, Florence is an easy day trip: back and forth to the Uffizi is a half-day outing. The room itself was on the large side, and the shower/jacuzzi would fit three. The fitness center had several cardiovascular machines and a few weights; it was well-lighted, clean, and everything worked. The street was very quiet. Everybody on the Diocleziano staff, from housekeeper to breakfast attendant to front desk clerk, was pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Most employees seemed to be able to converse in several languages, something I had not seen in Europe outside of a large chain (e.g. Marriott) hotel. Breakfast was generous, with a good variety of cereals and cheese, fruit, juices, and breads. All in all, it was a pleasure to know that at the end of the day, we'd be coming back to such a comfortable, welcoming place.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in Rome over the weekend and stayed at Hotel Diocleziano. We chose this hotel mainly due to its close proximity to Termini Station. The hotel is within walking distance to most of Rome's tourist attractions (depending on how much walking you want to do or capable of doing), though you might opt to take the bus (N40) or metro at Termini to Vatican City. The hotel is also close to restaurants, although the ones we sampled were just OK.

I echo most of the compliments to the hotel staff. Notable were Maria who was always ready with a smile to welcome guests, Alan was very helpful, and I can't remember the name of the lady who was there every morning at breakfast. There was a big selection for breakfast, with fresh squeezed blood orange juice and cappuccino...to accompany fresh brioche. They also had scrambled eggs and bacon for those who prefer that.

The room was adequate...small for American standards but par for the course in Europe. There was a complimentary wet bar with sodas and water bottles that gets replenished every morning. WiFi was also complimentary and had adequate speed. The hotel also provides access to computers (believe there were 3 or 4 desktops for guest use) during your stay and has a gym. Water pressure from the shower was great (if you are the type who takes that into account) with plenty of warm/hot water.

Why did I not give this property an overall rating of 5? For starters, the AC in our room seems to be either on or off and we can't adjust the temperature using the "thermostat" in the room. It was early spring so we just opened the window to let the cool air in...but this became an issue when some inconsiderate morons were making a ruckus outside at something like 0200 in the morning...so I had to shut the windows and luckily the AC was working that time.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor away from Via Gaeta for a quieter room.
