The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. You feel really welcome there. Rooms are spacious and clean, equipped with all what you need. The only improvement could be done reg. TV and radio channel choice, which is quite poor for non-Italian guest.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Diocleziano. The hotel was perfectly positioned a 5 minute walk from Termini station (and a big sign along the way points out the direction of the hotel) and the main sights are only a 20 minute walk away. The room was immaculate (the cleanest room I have ever stayed in) and the service by the hotel staff was wonderful. We were recommended a delightful family run trattoria near the hotel which served good food at a cheap price (however we noticed that everyone else also had a map of rome - so maybe all hotels recommend it?). The included breakfast was great - continental or american; and it was a valued rareity to find out that the mini bar was free each day!! Definately recommend Hotel Diocleziano.

  • Liked — the comfortable beds, cleanliness and location
  • Disliked — not enough bathroom products and only one english channel on tv

We booked this hotel based on peoples Tripadvisor comments and were not disappointed.
The hotel looks very new and is spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. Very quiet (from a sleeping point of view). Good soundproofing and a quiet location considering its proximity to Termini.
It was easy to find and only a few minutes walk from Termini.
Superior room was quite small, but we don't know if this is the norm for central Rome.

Good:
Cleanliness
Bright and nicely decorated
Quiet.
Lots of public transport nearby.
Excellent staff
Good breakfast (including bacon and egg)
Good price for a hotel of this standard, location.

We initially had some problems with the temperature of the shower, but this was efficiently fixed.

The surrounding area does look a bit dodgy late at night, but we had no problems at all. The location is great for the buses and metro because you can get almost anywhere easily and getting back is even easier because everything seems to go to Termini.
(Tickets for the bus and metro cost one Euro and once validated last for 75 minutes.)
Most of tourist Rome is within walking distance if you're reasonably fit.

Babbo's restaurant just around the corner is very good.

We found the bed very firm, so it may not be too good if you like a soft one.

All in all we would describe this hotel as top quality with "no frills".

To find this hotel from Termini. Exit from the front of the station where the parking area is (where the trains would go if the lines didn't end!). Walk alongside the righthand side of the car park where there are a line of trees in large pots. Then cross the wide road (with two central reservations). Via Gaeta is between the two kiosks. The Hotel is between two others with its sign on a flag so it's not easy to see. Tip: use Google Maps aerial photo. You can see Via Gaeta in relation to Termini..

The Pope usually addresses the people in St Peters Square at 12 noon on Sundays. We aren't Catholic but it was good to be there and there was a great atmosphere.

If you get the bus (64) to The Vatican you need to make sure that you get off at the right stop. We missed it and had quite a long walk back. Also the entrance to the Vatican Museum is a fair way from the St Peter's Square.

The Leonardo Express train form the airport to Termini runs every half hour and costs 11 Euros. If you have big heavy bags you might find it a struggle to get onto the train as the carriages are quite high.
The Hotel can arrange a taxi to the airport for 47 Euros all in, so it's worth considering if there are a number of people in your party.

All in all we thoroughly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Hotel Diocleziano for 4 nights in September 2008 on vacation with my girlfriend. We were given a room on the top floor with a King size bed. The room was modern and very clean and we had a beautiful terrace with a table for breakfast and amazing views of Rome. The only real downside to the room was that the bed was a little hard. The hotel also offered breakfast each morning included with the cost of the hotel. It included pasties, cereal, eggs, proscuitto, cheese, juice, coffee etc. The breakfast was a great way to start the day and the cappucino's were one of the highlights of our trip. Location wise...the hotel was a very short walk to the Termini and some great local family restaurants. For the most part we are able to walk to the major historic sites, but none of the walks are super short so if you want to take Rome on by foot, be prepared to walk a few miles. Overall, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to recommend some great restaurants, provide maps and directions and assist with cabs and reservations. I would consider this hotel a good value and would have no reservations about staying there again on my next trip to Rome.

As a last-minute holiday, it was not easy to find a hotel in Rome for a price that was right in the right location. We plumped for proximity to Termini (where the Metro lines cross and the Leonardo express goes), but would probably go somewhere more lively next time.

The hotel was easy to find from Termini and the staff very helpful. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, the breakfast good (continental) and plentiful and the Sauna was welcome after a hard day sightseeing.

The location should have been good, but it wasn't one that we wanted to spend time in the evening (the trat. round the corner made the best quality meals we had in Rome though), so we made full use of travel pass to get back to busier parts of town.

We, a group of three couples, spent three nights at this hotel and we all agree that it was a great choice. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel and rooms spotless. A breakfast buffet was included, as was the use of the sauna and (small) gym. The standard rooms are small, but comfortable. If you want more space, ask for the superior rooms, that also have a bath/jacuzzi. The central station (Termini) is a five minute walk away, which makes exploring Rome by subway and/or bus so easy.

I stayed here last January (I know a bit late on my review) and the staff is wonderful, they have a buffet breakfast every morning and the location of it is spot on.

There is internet (no wi-fi though) on each room and my only complaint would be the lack of room service.

The rooms are always clean and very quiet at night.

Absolutely recommend this hotel.
