“Don't go thieves from hotel room safe”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

We booked this hotel with all good intentions because of the fabulous location. We required a hotel with secure parking as we were on route to emigrating and had a car full of household and personal items. This hotel seemed perfect. UNTIL WE ARRIVED. We parked In the car park in the area shown in the photos as secure parking and looked around for the reception. NOTHING!! We eventually went into the building as a person was exiting the big wooden doors and found the hotel reception. A bearded man was at reception and immediately told us to move our car onto the street as this hotel had NO PARKING the nearest secure parking cost euro24 per day. We needed 3 days which pushed this choice of hotel to premier league accommodation prices. Then we were informed that the night man cannot work and that after 8:30 reception would be closed. We wanted to leave there and then and go to another hotel but was informed that we would be charged in full. We decided to stay and checked into our pitiful room. The hotel room safe had a low battery code and we requested a new battery. The same bearded man fumbled about with a screwdriver and did nothing but assured us that the safe was okay to use. We put a large sum of counted money in the safe and attempted to make good with the hotel. We were friendly with the bearded man to the point he shown us a photo of his son off his phone, he gave us recommendations of where to eat etc and we were warmed by his friendly ness. It was on night 2 of 3 that my partner asked about if I had any cash and when I went to my wallet it was empty. I passed it off as my mistake but later began to remember I did have some loose change and about €40. In there. We then decided to check the sum of money in the safe and to our horror discover a theft of €660 not from one pile but each pile of money we had at least 2 €20 notes had been removed in one pile 7€20 had been removed.
Immediately we went to reception to discover no staff in the building and no emergency contact numbers. Then was the realisation we had been charmed by this man while he had helped himself to the money whist we were out.
Other point this hotel serves breakfast in the reception area at the front door. This hotel has only 7 rooms. This hotel is in a residential apartment building and the residents are far from friendly.

the reception was advertised as open 24 hours, main reason I booked it, but when I got there, that was not the case. The safety deposit box in the room wasn't working, the bed was the worst I ever experienced, there ac makes so much noise I had to turn it off. The "hotel" is inside an apartment building, and they give you a set of keys to go in and out, so if you lose them, and since the reception is closed after 8pm, you are in trouble....
my room was near the reception, and it was so noisy, people coming in and out at all hours that I could not sleep. I understand it's a cheap place, but this was a real dump. Also the access to the property is difficult, all the taxis I took there left me at least two blocks away,
the service is friendly , but it does not compensate for all the rest of the problems this place has, avoid it.

My friend and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and it's a lovely little place. The man on the reception was very nice and spoke great english, showed us all the keys to get into the electronic gates and all the doors for when they shut at night.
The room was very good, clean, good a/c and the shower was good too, the temp can be a little temperamental but we were so hot a cold shower now and again was much appreciated!
The hotel is in a fantastic location just at the back of Castel St Angelo and it is literally less than a 10 min walk to St Peters! Around the back of the hotel is a piazza with lots of good restaurants and a fantastic gelato cafe!

The breakfast leaves a little to be desired, the lady doesn't come till around 8am with it all, and one day we left the hotel at 6.45am to get to St Peters before the queues and there was apparently no food on site to just leave with us for a snack.
The pastries she brings are absolutely delicious, but there is only that, some bits of cheese and a yogurt. (Don't have the cornflakes they are like cardboard!)
The croissants completely make up for it though!

Another thing to think about that we didn't realise is that there are no safes in the room and we were told that there was one behind the desk but only the guy could have a key to it so not that useful! We had to come up with inventive ways to hide our money that we didn't take out.

All in all this is a great hotel for the price and location! We would definitely use it again!!

Room Tip: Do not have the room directly behind the reception (the door with no number on it) it is very noisy...

We stayed at Roma Dei Papi for three nights and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The price is good and the location is perfect for lots of the different tourist stuff. The hotel is very well kept and the staff went out of their way to help us in every way which really made Rome more enjoyable. If there is one thing that could be better then it would be the limited breakfast that is served but that is really a minor detail because it is still totally adequate.

Room Tip: When getting a taxi to this hotel, ensure that you approach from the East of the Piazza because if y...

After wat seemed a bad start , due not to the hotel but the booking agent are stay here could not have been better. The staff super friendly and helpful. We had a bad day of travel and arrived late, while we waited on things being sorted out they offered us drinks and use of their massage chairs, we needed them believe me. Their standard of customer service is second to none. We would highly recommend this hotel to all travellers.

I recently stayed at Roma dei Papi - Hotel de Charme with my mother and grandmother on a sightseeing trip to Rome, I was sceptical about the hotel at first after paying such a good price but there was nothing to worry about at all!

Firstly the location was ideal (literally right opposite Castel st Angelo, and 5 minute stroll to the Vatican) We arrived at Rome Fiumicino airport and took a bus shuttle for 6 euros straight to Castel st Angelo (1 minute walk to hotel) we simply asked someone to point us in the right direction and we found the Sign post for the hotel. The hotel is hidden in a beautiful private apartment building, & it is just above ground level so only a small flight of stairs as you step into the building.

On arrival the staff at the Reception desk were very helpful, and even pointed out all of the major sights to see on a map for us, everything is easy to get to, we ended up walking down to the vatican and jumping on a hop-on hop-off bus which took us all around the city, a 2 day pass cost around 25 euros (discounts were available for seniors and younger passengers!) Plus, the Reception is open for 24 hours so there is always someone there to help you if you have any questions.

We had a triple bed suite so the room itself was a decent size, a huge double bed and a separate stow away bed for the third person, complete with a great shower room en suite. I was especially impressed to find all of the rooms have a wifi service, at no extra cost.

A continental breakfast was served near the reception area, although it was a small space, it really was all they needed as it was never over packed, and fewer guests meant fresh pastries, coffee and juices (which I much prefer to the larger hotel chains, where everything seems to have been sitting out for a while, etc)

Overall it was a fantastic stay, great location, great service, can't wait to head back!
