“Exemplary – if only all hotels were like this.”
Reviewed 11 March 2010

Great location. First class rooms – exceptionally quiet and comfortable. That should be enough but .. also that rare thing – a great breakfast in Italy, all breads and jams with that home made feel, organic cheeses and cold meats and made to order bacon and eggs for us Brits. But most of all service just as it should be. Discrete, genuine, friendly and efficient. Had we found anything wrong – we didn’t – i have no doubt they would have fixed it quietly and without a fuss. As it was whatever we needed, they provided; excellent recommendations for close by restaurants, transport and room service on late arrival. This Hotel is immaculate but when combined with the exceptional staff it makes for unbeatable Rome stay. One for those who don't want the formality of big luxury hotels and for those who value comfort, friendliness and discretion. Just superb.

The praise lavished on this wonderful hotel by all 'Trip Advisor' reviewers is fully justified. Low-key attentiveness is supplemented by hands-on managerial dedication where appropriate – the mark of a truly great hotel. No sooner were our backs turned than the complimentary mini-bar was restocked – greatly appreciated on that first, tiring day. Remarkably, we were presented with complimentary tickets for the oversubscribed first day of a major exhibition that we were keen to see. Our grateful thanks to the very charismatic Maria Merra and her most helpful staff.

This place is magnificent. Only 12 rooms but each is wonderful. Great beds and baths, good fitness center, complimentary drinks, minutes from the Trevi Fountain, very friendly staff. Holds its own against the Hassler and Hotel de Russie and a better value.

My husband had never been to Rome and I wanted him to love it ! I tried so hard to find a perfect place and ended up researching every hotel to death... chose Spalletti Trivelli and it could not have been more perfect. Everything everyone says is true. Wonderful location, fantastic staff, beautiful bedrooms and common rooms... it was all so perfect. An idyll. We stayed three nights and want to go back. Perfection.

My wife and I just spend four nights at Villa Spalletti Trivelli and we must agree with the other reviewers that this is a top-notch property and a unique experience. Just 12 guest rooms (I think), it's got everything you need - high-quality accommodations, attentive staff, great location - and they really endeavor to make you feel at home. This is the best alternative we've found anywhere to the noise and crowd of a large hotel, better even than most boutique hotels we've stayed in (and we vacation in Europe 2-3 times per year). It is a luxurious property, exceptionally well-maintained, the rooms are exquisitely appointed and large by any standard. We arrived early morning our first day and they immediately made us feel comfortable, giving us breakfast (fantastic espresso, much needed after the overnight flight) and even access to our room to rejuvinate and freshen up. Of course, this may not always be possible depending on time of year and guest load but you have to love a place that makes it happen when it can. The room itself had one of the most comfortable king beds ever and great wooden window shades that allowed complete blockage of light - perfect for that cat-nap on the first day to recove from the trip. When you return from an evening out, you have three great salons, one a very interesting library, at your disposal for relaxation. Not to mention the complimentary bar with all manner of fine liqueurs, spirits, etc. It is a home away from home, though even better since how many of us actually live in Italian villas year-round? We simply cannot say enough about this place and the experience staying there.

We picked Spalletti Trivelli (ST) after studying TripAdvisor recommendations. It was the only small hotel we found that received nothing LESS than "Very Good" ratings. The hotel has only 12 rooms (suites included). It's a former private villa in a quiet area of Rome close to the Quirivale Gardens that was converted to a hotel several years ago. The public rooms are huge with 15' ceilings and decorated in what appears to be the family's antique furniture and art. The breakfast room is equally elegant. There's an "open bar" (actually bottles of whiskey and liquors on a table) 24 hours a day in one of the public rooms. (This is one of the few places we've stayed where the in-room mini bar is stocked and re-stocked without charge.) Our room was large and had a small balcony overlooking a public park. There was a 42" flat screen, a king-sized bed, and a walk-in closet. The bathroom was tile and marble about 5'x15' with a separate shower and soaking tub, 2 sinks and a bidet.
The staff - Eleonora, Andrea, and Danielle - was incredibly helpful with directions, bus routes, restaurants, just about anything and everything.
We typically don't spend nearly $500/night on a hotel, but we splurged this time. And it was well worth it!

Just got back from our trip to Europe and a highlight was staying one night at the Villa Spalletti. It took a bit to find it on the one way street but once we found it and we're greeted at the door we were in amazement. The house which has been converted into a hotel with very few rooms is magnificent. From the beautiful tapestries on the walls to the wonderful comfortable bed and appointments. We were thrilled with our stay and will definitely come back. The staff was wonderful, the location fantastic and the breakfast to die for. Don't hesitate, stay there at least once in your life. It's worth splurging.
