Booked online with American Express credit card which their website claimed they accepted. They then refused our payment and cancelled our booking. Two weeks later they charged us anyway with a NO SHOW. Fraudulently charged us $350 (on the same credit card they claimed not to accept!) and were unwilling to answer any questions nor refund us in any way. Their false documentation of a "no show" prevented us from make a claim elsewhere. Very clever scammers who ripped us off a full week's stay.

Impossible to deal with, openly dishonest, and extremely poor english skills. Made several derogatory comments on American Express customers and Americans customers in general. The owner Tonino was quite rude and unpleasant, clearly proud of his swindling ways. This B&B should be removed from Expedia and Hotels.com since they hate North American customers so much! They don't deserve to be in business as they are clearly crooks!

I've stayed at Matisse three or four times now and had a pleasant stay every single time. I even brought my parents there.
The B&B is a no thrills bed and breakfast with clean rooms and a very central location near the metro station. The only bad experience I had last year was a smoking couple in the room next to ours, making the whole apartment smelly, even making it harder to sleep. Smoking is not allowed by the way...

Roberto, the caretaker is friendly and helpful.
I've planned another educational visit to Rome with a group of teenagers later this summer and was able book the whole apartment for just our group. Ideal.
We are looking forward to staying at Matisse Cavour again.

We had an awful experience in this hotel. Room was small, warm and not very clean and had a very bad smell like rotten cheese -YUK! When we complained they basically said "too bad" and made no efforts to change anything. We also felt very unsafe and worried about thieves in this shabby place.

This was the second time to stay at the B&B owned by Matisse Properties (last year we stayed at Nakissa Inn near the Colosseo and the Roman Forum and liked it very much!) . This time, we chose Matisse B&B for it's central location in the heart of Rome at via Nazionale. So, here we were back again to Roberto, the friendly and helpful owner! It was a pleasure to see Roberto again! He was kind enough to provide us with an apartment type rooms on via Firenze which was just 50m distance from via Nazionale since we were a family and he thought this quiet privacy would be most suitable for us. The rooms were nice and simple with an elevator and we felt so much at home as if we had an apartment in central Rome. Roberto gave us a daily breakfast coupon at a cafe across the street on via Nazionale. The breakfast was typically Irtalian, good Cappucino, croissant and orange juice which was good for a day's start.

I enjoyed walking to the Trevi Fountain, Termini station and other famous spots and had no neccesity to get on a bus or subway except for the Vatican and Antica Appia Road.

On arrival, we asked for a transfer service as we did last time and feel it is worth the price, especially if you are arriving at night with suitcases. However, on departure, we had no difficulty walking to the airport bus terminal at Termini station.

On our last day, Roberto showed us other Matisse B&Bs and were surprrised to see his new Matisse rooms under rennovation. I knew from last year that Roberto is very artisttic but this time, I understood that he is a creator, always on the go, with new ideas and designs. He is expanding his business and creating new Matisse areas, each with a different concept and orifinality, and I am sure there will be one that will suit your needs. Just relate to him what you expect and he should be able to meet your needs since he is a very flexible person.

Thank you Roberto for all your help and I look forward to coming back to Rome and to Matisse B&B!

The hotel is basic, but perfectly fine for a short stay in Rome when most of your time will be spent out sightseeing anyway. Food/drink available throughout the day, clean, has free wi-fi and conveniently located for the main tourist attractions.

Be aware! You book for a low price to have a room in Nazionale street and then they bring you to another B&B ...very near from Colosseum but It was not what you choose. Very Unfair!!!
The reason? I think to be sure that rooms are full into the two structeres they have.
