Its hard to really compare Portrait Suites with other hotels. After a month-long trip through Europe, and staying at many high-end hotels, our last week would be spent in Rome. We selected Portrait Suites because of the reviews, and we were not disappointing.

The hotel arranged for a driver to pick us up at the train station, and he was there. This may sound unimpressive except that in the last three destinations, at even very fine hotels, we were left stranded. Sometimes its the simple things....

But it just got better. We pull up and their staff was standing outside to greet us by name. We were ushered into a nice comfortable office where we were introduced to what Portrait Suites was all about and how they were here to make sure we had a great time. There is no reception desk, or concierge desk. Instead, it's very personal one-on-one treatment. Oh, and by the way, fluent English is spoken.

It took awhile to truly understand what they mean by service. Every day we were greeted by the hotel staff and they sought out ways to make our stay better. We said we were going to go visit this or that and they'd offer to arrange a private guide and car (which, by the way is the absolute best way... hands down... way to see Rome). Even on last minute notice, they would do whatever it took. At one point we felt hungry but not exactly wanting to go out, after a long day of sight seeing. No problem, they said, and produced menus from various local restaurants and then offered to run out and bring us the food to our room or the roof top. What? Really? No joke, they said. And it was no joke. They set out the food as if it had been prepared locally and it was great. We did took advantage of that more than once, I'll tell you.

From a service stand point, Portrait Suites is second to none. It isn't just what they will do, but how they engage you and really go to great lengths to make sure you have a great stay. They always, always seem genuinely pleased to have made your stay even more special.

As a boutique hotel there is no restaurant, but they do serve a nice breakfast on the roof top terrace. This is not a problem given the service I mentioned and the fact that great restaurants are all within very short walks down the street. And by the way, the local is amazing. It's right in the fashion district and its a very alive place. We were even there on Fashion Night and that was something to behold.

Speaking of shopping, at one point we had a few too many shopping bags to carry comfortable. We circled back to the hotel and there was the staff, right at the door. Just hand it to us, they said, and we'll take it to your room. And boom we were back on our way to the next amazing shop.

If there is a down side to Portrait Suites it would be the wireless internet access. It was spotty and slow. This is a problem if you are having to conduct business from the room. I mentioned it to them and they said they were resolving the problem and it'd be fixed by the time we return.

And we will return.

If you go, my advice, take full advantage of their hospitality and service. And especially the private guides through Rome and the Vatican. It is a far, far better experience.

After a month in Europe, we could not have ended it in a better place.

The Portrait Suites is an amazing place. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the friendliest group of gentlemen ever! They made us feel like celebrities. Offered drinks and cookies while checking in. The service just kept getting better and better. No request was too difficult. The location was phenomenal-felt like I had an upscale apartment in Rome in the center of all the high end stores. The rooftop terrace had beautiful views of Rome- what a remarkable place to have an after dinner drink, or breakfast. The rooms were well appointed and extremely quiet considering we were located in a high traffic area. We will definitely be back!

Me and my wife was spending our honeymoon in Rome . I have particularly chosen Portrait Suite is because of the great reviews from tripadviser and as well as my previous experience in Continental, Firenze (which was also operated by the same group).

Honestly I have never imagined that the Portrait staffs can be so helpful and sincere. Both of us have stayed many great hotels and resorts in the world but by far Portrait has the best staffs service. I would like to thank you Roberto, Alex and other members of the staffs. They have given us a great honeymoon experience in Rome. Thank you Portrait Suite.

I wouldn't even think about staying somewhere else when returning to Rome. Everything about this hotel is stellar. The staff does a great job of making you feel like they're all there just for you. Each of them is fantastic. The rooms are modern and furnished with high-quality materials. They's done a great job with soundproofing and we never heard any noise once in the room. We were a little worried when we made the reservation that the room would be too small since nothing larger than a studio was available. But even the hotel's smallest room type wound up being larger than most hotel rooms in the US and extremely comfortable. The location, among luxury shops near the spanish steps, was convenient for everywhere we wanted to go. Believe all the other reviews for this hotel - it's among the best I've stayed at.

My husband and I stayed at many wonderful hotels in Italy on our honeymoon in July. This hotel was stunning! I felt as if I had an apartment in the city in of Rome. The staff was always there to greet us at the door. They also helped to book dinner and get around the city. The hotel is located on a street filled with amazing shops! We would highly recommend staying here on your next trip to Rome!
