“An Incredible trip to Rome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 September 2013

The suite was topnotch, classy, and had all the amenities we could ask for... the terrace on top looked out over Rome and was are relaxing getaway with a bar and breakfast served every morning. The service was incredible by helping us with dinner reservations for the night to our itinerary across Italy. The location is so convenient with the Spanish steps a block away and walking distance to the main attractions like the Pantheon, Trevi fountain and Piazza Navona.

We had the pleasure of a second stay at the Portrait Suites in early September 2013. As reflected in my prior review, we thoroughly enjoyed our first stay and were very much looking forward to round 2. Luckily, not only did Portrait Suites meet, but far exceeded our expectations.

We had booked not the most basic room but the next category up. But in honor of my birthday (which I was lucky enough to celebrate in Rome) the hotel upgraded us to the Condotti Suite which was amazing. It is one of the single story suites with a large bedroom, separate living area, kitchenette, 2 closets and a large bathroom (2 sinks, plus separate shower and bath). It was an awesome room for which I am incredibly grateful. It was really nice to have the additional space. Plus, the kitchenette (including its Nespresso machine) allowed us to make our own coffee and tea whenever we wanted, something we very much appreciate when traveling.

The hotel has definitely stepped it up and improved on what was already an awesome experience. Breakfast is now a full buffet with many choices all served up on the amazing roof deck. The roof bar is also now tended in the evenings in case you are shy about making your own drink.

One of the things we love about the hotel is the technological advantages. WiFi throughout, plus iPod docks which make charging our various devices much easier. They also now include an iPad in the room with information about the hotel and tourist sights – it was also nice just to have it to do our own research. Our room also had a sound system and weight set.

As before, the staff was incredibly helpful with recommendations and reservations. Likewise, the location of the hotel can’t be beat. And I cannot say enough about the roof deck. It is such a great place to relax and have a drink while watching all the goings on at the Spanish Steps.

They really have all of the details nailed, down to the Ferragamo toiletries.

This stay far surpassed our last and I cannot recommend the hotel enough.

Superb, nothing to complain about, although they can certainly improve internet service and F&B offer... Everybody was always assisting (perhaps too much, hahaha)... Highly recommendable. Location cannot be better.

we stay for 3 nights,at the end of august.
Hotel as the best location right on Via Condotti very close to the Spanish steps, very nice location for shopping dinning and walking around. Rooms are just impeccable, perfect and very cozy all the in room amenities are very high quality and the staff is impatience to please you in any possible way.Breasfast in the roof top is very nice. May seem expensive but worth every penny.

Room Tip: junior suites are the best deal , they fit 3 people and are very spacious

A perfect stay! Great location! Great room! Great staff!

Our welcome/check in on the roof terrace(with mohitos!!) was a great way to start our trip. We received a very warm welcome from the charming female concierge ( unfortunately we didn't catch her name) . As it was our first time in Rome, she enthusiastically produced a map of Rome and circled all the places she would recommend for us to visit and restaurants to eat at.

Our room was both luxurious and functional. We especially loved the marble bathroom which had a fabulous wide tub + separate shower. In fact, there was'nt much we didn't love about the room. The whole experience was topped off by with our own personal iPad which included the tours, restaurant suggestions and other useful apps already downloaded.

We avoided asking the hotel to make meal reservations as we preferred to wonder and find places for ourselves. On our last night we went to a nearby restaurant called 'Dilla that was on the hotels recommended list. it was a saturday night and we hadnt made a reservation but when they heard we were staying at the portrait suites they offered us our choice of table and we had a really lovely + relaxed meal.

What made our stay really special was the fact that we felt really taken care of by everyone - from the front door, to the reception and the bar. We really appreciated the thoughtful gifts they left for us as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.

We haven't even gone into detail about the amazing rooftop terrace where we spent every evening...

The suites are luxurious whilst hugely practical, if you are visiting for business or pleasure they will meet all your needs. We went for a deluxe studio and the room was way above our expectations! We expected it to be nice but what an understatement, the room was well laid out we had a separate lounge with a fully equipped kitchen with fridge espresso machine and even a dishwasher!

The room’s ipad was customized to our stay (I don't want to give too much away). We had a pre arrival questionnaire with requests on choice of pillow, music etc. and everything was as we requested right down to our nighttime drink request.

The staff were friendly and assisted with every request that we threw at them. The restaurant suggestions were informed and excellent.

The terrace is beautiful we enjoyed late evening drinks and breakfast with amazing views.

I could go on..... However if you’re going to Rome looking for a central location that’s private luxurious and exclusive then look no further!

This hotel delivers on so many levels it is difficult to know where to start! One of the best features of the hotel has to be its unbeatable location! You will be able to walk almost anywhere in the tourist heart of the city (Vatican City is a short metro ride away)! The view of the Spanish Steps from the roof top terrace is spectacular! We spent most early evenings there watching the sun set while soaking in the views. We also tremendously enjoyed our breakfast each morning on the terrace (speaking of the breakfast it was superb in both selection and quality!)!

Every area of the hotel is kept spotlessly clean! From the entrance to the reception area to the terrace to every nook and cranny of the room! Housekeeping staff was excellent!

The rooms are simply serene. There isn't anything more we could have asked for (okay, a working iPhone charger, but I digress - the staff did try on 3 occasions to fix it to no avail, so we just left it and used the ones we brought with us). The closet was very spacious - the biggest we experienced on our trip to Europe! There was plenty of storage space - shelves, hangers and closets the we simply could not fill!! The bathroom was amazing with a separate tub & shower (my preference) with great water pressure! We really enjoyed the full strength blow dryer and the straightening iron!

My daughter enjoyed the movie selection! She wasn't feeling well one afternoon and watched Wall E and Kung Fu Panda. She also loved how the staff turned down the pull out sofa and made the bed for her each night! She said it was very comfortable!

I had asked for milk to be delivered to my room one night so I could enjoy a cup of hot tea. I was blown away when the concierge delivered a delightful tray with tea and milk both nights of our stay! Well done and most appreciated!

I did have a few minor issues that prevented me from giving the hotel five stars. We had asked the staff to secure dining reservations for us one night of our stay (we asked a day in advance). Many of the good restaurants were closed for the time in August we were in Rome. When I followed up the next day, nothing had been done. I asked again a few hours later and again nothing had been done. Needless to say, the staff never did make a dinner reservation for us - most disappointing. Also, we had asked the concierge to call us a cab to take us to Pizzarium (a don't miss take out pizza counter!!)! The concierge assured us he had given the cab driver the address and directions (the driver didn't speak any English), however the cabbie delivered us to a very shady part of town. Had I not been paying attention we may have paid him and gotten out without realizing we weren't at the correct address. However I used my cell phone to look up the street address and we eventually arrived at said restaurant. This cost us a bit of extra time and money and was a bit stressful. Cabbie said he delivered us to the address the concierge gave him, in broken English, so who knows where the communication broke down.

If you enjoy small, upscale boutique hotels, then this hotel would be highly recommended for you! We would definitely consider staying here again! Grazie mille!

Room Tip: We enjoyed our street facing room - loved watching the hurried shoppers below us!

Dear ONskygirl,

I appreciate you taking the time to share comments on your recent stay. I am concerned to see that other aspects of your trip fell short of your initial expectations. As a hotel, we constantly evaluate everything that goes into providing a remarkable guest experience.

The Lifestyle Team should be perfect in their daily work, i really apologize, they usually are very attentive but not this time.
I would love to be contacted directly to better understand what was wrong in those days. Your feedbacks are so important and are the only way to always improve our high standard of service.
