This is truly a spectacular hotel. It was absolutely SUPERB! The rooms were beautiful. They were decorated in a tasteful, traditional European decor. The staff was excellent. I can not say enough positive about them. The hotel was perfect for exploring Rome from. I hope to return to this incredible hotel.

I'm a year late in writing this review, but the hotel deserves a good review. We chose the hotel based on TA reviews and availability, and we weren't disappointed. While many of the finer details are now lost in memory, the experience was very memorable. The staff were very helpful, the location was prefect for (re)-exploring Rome on foot. The hotel is located at the epicenter of high-end shopping in Rome which was nice too. But best of all the room was incredibly comfortable. We weren't able to get one of the rooms with a view of the Spanish Steps (and I don't think its probably worth vying for those rooms as the roof deck gives a better view), but we did have a very nice room on the 3rd floor (I think) that looked out over the V.Condotti and V.Bocca di Leone. Noise was never a problem and the room was very inviting and comfortable and extremely well appointed. We had a separate living area that was larger than the bedroom; the bathroom was slightly small but fine (and certainly large by European standards). If I recall it was a little pricey, but worth it. The rooftop deck and honor system bar is very relaxing and inviting. Service was excellent.

This hotel is perfect in every way. From the moment of arriving where you are greeted on the first floor "living room" (more personalised service rather than just a normal reception check in area) by both Roberto and Thomas with a glass of sparkling champagne, to the entrance to a beautifully designed room, as the name of the Hotel suggests, filled with stunning portraits and an amazing marble bathroom.

The service is exceptional!! After getting settled in our room, Thomas took us to the private roof terrace where you overlook the Spanish Steps, Vatican City, Italian Parliament House, shopping district etc - whilst Roberto downstairs was arranging a beautiful local restaurant within 15 minute walk. They were only too happy to assist with any of our requests and has certainly made our stay in Rome memorable and one not to forget.

Absolutely 10/10 and the only place to stay on your next visit to Rome.

We recently stayed at the Portrait Roma for three days.

All the staff was very helpful and I found everyone I met or talked to extremely friendly and professional, when we needed directions or restaurant suggestions we felt very cared for the whole time.

It was simply amazing to relax sipping a drink on the roof garden on the top floor after a long day spent walking and shopping. Breakfast was included in our rate and was served on the same roof garden every morning.

The room was big and extremely comfortable and the bathroom was huge and very luxurious. In our room we found a mini ipad prepared by the staff with all apps and other useful data where you can get get additional info on the restaurants and all the services that the concierge can arrange for you. But what really surprised us was that the mini ipad had a cellular connection and you could bring it with you while you visit the city. The device had the Skype app configured to call the concierge (in case you need or don't want to use your own phone) and personalized Maps app, where the staff added all the restaurants, boutiques, museums and monuments, and you're just one tap away from getting walking directions (in English) to any place in the city. Spectacular!

The hotel is extremely well located and it's just 5 minutes away from the Spanish Steps.

Fabulous!

The Portrait Roma exceeded expectations. The deluxe suite was huge for inner-city Europe with a nice separate sitting room and large comfy bed. The service was outstanding. The rooftop deck has glorious views and is a great respite from the crowds.

Room Tip: Room 215 has a balcony on Via dei Condotti with a view of the Spanish Steps.

To begin with, the location is unbeatable. Centrally located in a beautiful part of Rome, there isn't any area that would be better. The rooms are huge by european standards and beautifully appointed. Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant (although you can get breakfast), the rooftop terrance, which is only for hotel guests, is perfect for enjoying a negroni in the late afternoon. But all that aside, the service, the service, the service. I cannot say enough about the service. They will bend over backwards with a smile to fulfill your requests. In fact, my wife and I were so impressed with the Portrait Roma that we changed our hotel reservations in Florence to the Portrait hotel there.

Room Tip: A/C is great. Ask for Room 324 or equivalent.

After staying at chain hotels in other cities during our vacation, the Portrait Roma was completely different - very boutique, small, and intimate. We rarely saw another guest the whole time we were there. Streets are a little tight in this area, so our cab from the airport dropped us off a couple of blocks away and told us how to walk there. It's so discreet that we almost walked right by it!

The "front desk" is really just a room that's been converted to an office. Since the hotel is in the fashion district, it's right in the middle of Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Armani, etc. Not my thing, but other people at the hotel seemed excited! The staff offered drinks and snacks as we were checking in and provided us with an iPad pre-loaded with suggested restaurants and other attractions. They were also incredibly helpful during our stay securing tickets to The Vatican museum and the Coliseum/Forum (with no wait either place because we had "reserved" tickets). However, they could not exchange money, which put a little cramp in our plans.

The room itself was spacious with two closets, a seating area, desk, and separate bedroom with TV/DVD player. For the light packers, the bathroom also came with all toiletries (Ferragamo to keep with the fashion theme), cotton pads/Q-tips, hair dryer, and flat iron. They also provided fruit each night and bottled water sporadically.

Perhaps the best part is the rooftop terrace where breakfast is served, along with a bar and snacks in the evenings. We thought the bar was free, but we found out we were wrong when we checked out - oops. The terrace has a view of all of Rome, including the Spanish Steps (which are only a couple of blocks away) and the entrance to the Forum. We had breakfast there each morning, which included pastries, fruit, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, etc. and the staff would make any sort of coffee you wanted.

The location is great and within easy walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon and only a mile or so walk to The Forum and Coliseum, which seemed easy walking straight down the Via del Corso. There are also tons of restaurants, gelato places, etc. all around the hotel. It's obviously not anywhere close to the airport, but we were able to arrange that online when we booked, and our driver meant business! We got there in about 35-40 minutes.

Room Tip: Our mattress was pretty hard, but the room itself was quiet... I don't think you can go wrong wh...
