The location, decor, room quality, furnishings, sheets, staff, bathroom amenties, attention to detail, personalized service, cleanliness, the list goes on and on. Cannot say enough about this hotel (and I am comparing this across the board to places like the Clardiges in London, the Four Seasons, The Tokyo Ritz Carlton, ....). It is a fancy fancy apartment/home away from home. And to know that they can deliver all this to a large family (we were a group of 9 extended family members with kids) is absolutely amazing. If you want over-the-top attitude and fake glitz, this is not the place for you. If you want real quality, style, and service, this is IT!

This is the perfect place to stay if you are picky about your room and want the best. We loved Rome but it is noisy and chaotic and the Portrait Suites was a peaceful oasis. We stayed in a studio deluxe which was large, beautifully designed and equipped with everything you could possibly want and of the highest quality. The bed and linens were fabulous, loved the cashmere throw at turn down service. The location is perfect and the rooftop terrace is special, we had breakfast on the terrace and one night just ordered up a bottle of wine and enjoyed the view of the Spanish steps and the privacy of this fabulous place. We loved the people that worked there too, as they were friendly and offered great suggestions for restaurants, my only quibble would be when we e-mailed them prior to arrival to book a private guide for the Vatican and day trip for Rome never received an answer (a friend recommended Paola with Ultimate Rome Tours, she was fabulous,) when we asked for recommendation for shopping, they looked into their computer data base and the address they gave us was wrong and another store was no longer at that location but those were minor issues for us. The Portrait Suites is a special place and when we come back to Rome we would not think of staying anywhere else.

I've traveled all over the world, for business and for pleasure, but this hotel takes the cake for service and luxury. The location was perfect, just an elegant, unmarked doorway next to the Ferragamo store on the Via Condotti. When you ring the bell, one of the wonderful staffers runs down to greet you, asking how your day was, wishing you a wonderful evening. The staff got us dinner reservations every night of our first 4 nights there. We went to Venice for 3 days, then returned for one last night to the Portrait Suites so we could catch our early morning plane. They upgraded us to the Penthouse suite! The service was outstanding, our personal concierge 24 hours a day. The bed was firm but cozy, the pillows just the right cushiness. All the linens were beautiful. The in-room breakfast was delicious. The amenities were from Salvatore Ferragamo, they were all great and smelled fantastico. Instead of chocolate, I preferred the nightly bottle of water, and they provided us with lip balm next to the bed. How did they know that's the last thing I put on before I go to sleep? I felt pampered in this small, cozy, luxurious hotel, such a wonderful respite from a hot sweaty day of sightseeing. I was sad to leave, not only the beautiful room, but my new "friends," the charming staff. Can't wait to return.

Had a great week at The Portrait Suites. The room was completely soundproof even though it's right in the middle of one of Rome's busiest shopping streets. After a day of walking it was a great place to rest before going out in the evening and the rooftop honor bar was exquisite. The staff were charming and helpful and the room was perfectly appointed. LOVED it.

We stayed here for 5 nights at the start of our honeymoon and were welcomed to our room with a chilled bottle of prosecco and a fruit plate. The room itself was amazing and had its own terrace overlooking Via Condotti and the Spanish steps. After a day of exploring Rome we would look forward to spending some time chilling out on the roof terrace with a glass of wine watching the sun set.

We got some amazing recommendations for restaurants from the hotel - Mirabelle was a particular favourite overlooking Rome!

The room itself was very spacious and immaculately decorated. The bathroom was large and had a great rain shower. The breakfasts were great and made to order!

We loved every second of staying here and it was certainly a welcome haven in between wandering around Rome. We loved Rome and walked everywhere from the hotel because it is very well located.

Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough!!

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in September 2010. Our expectations of every aspect of the hotel were surpassed.

We were very warmly welcomed upon arrival and each and every time we returned to the hotel after exploring Rome’s many attractions. The staff went out of their way to spend time discussing the local area, recommending restaurants and booking private tours.

I did not believe that there could be a hotel that could be the perfect city hotel but this is it. There is nothing else you could possibly require from a hotel that the Portrait Suites does not offer. The design of the rooms makes the most of the space available; the Ferragamo fabrics add a unique and luxurious feel to the rooms. The rest of the hotel is beautiful; it usually took us a while to reach our room as we were so distracted by the beautiful sketches and photographs leading up the walls on the stairway.

The rooftop terrace was one of my main reasons for booking Portrait Suites, and I was not disappointed. The honesty bar was well stocked and the breathtaking view of the sun setting over the terracotta rooftops of Rome, in such privacy, is unrivalled.

Overall, we did not want to leave and I can say truly say that there is nowhere else I would even consider staying on a return trip to Rome.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon. We are very particular on choosing hotels because we like to stay at luxury hotels with great locations and this hotel surpassed our standard. We stayed at the superior studio and it was modern decor, very spacious and feels luxurious. The bathroom is big and modern with rain-shower and spray showers. The service was impeccable. Breakfast is included for our stay -- served in room or on the terrace. The terrace is cozy with loungers and overlooks Spanish Steps. The breakfast was made to order and one of the staff waited for you until you get there at the specified time. The breakfast made our stay just so much better! You can not beat the location of this hotel as it sits on top of Ferragamo on the main high-end shopping street in front of Spanish Steps. Spanish steps is a 2 minute walk and metro is a 5-minute walk. We walked everywhere from the hotel, including to the Trevi Fountain & Pantheon because there are so much to see. We are going to Rome again this year and will be staying at this hotel again.
