“Couples trip to Rome- Winter- off peak”
Reviewed 12 February 2014 via mobile

When arriving it became apparent the cheap price was because i has booked a 'basic' room! which was basic- perfect for a group of mates who literally needed somewhere to kip!

after upgrading to one of the lovely bungalow caravans you'll see on the picture this place was amazing!!

there is a beautiful restraraunt on site- gorgeous food & staff! we were fortunate enough for a full italian night with a band and dancing as is was off-peak season!

the staff were amazing- especially gabrielle, the main waitress and the owner- could not have been more welcoming and treated us like loyalty!!

the free shuffle bus is alwaaays on time to an from Prima Porta train station where you easily catch the train straight into Rome centre!

the bungalow was warm- clean- modern- amazing shower- big mirror- tv(italian)- plug sockets etc etc. really nice!

i would recommend this place to another couple if they didnt mind the 40 min journey into Rome- which really didnt bother us!! :-) xxx

We stayed here to try save some money and for what we paid it was alright.
Positives - the free shuttle bus was always leaving on time and was at the train station early so we didn't had to wait in the dark in a dodgy looking town.
The restraunt bar has good and cheap food. Especially the pizza massive for like 7 euro.
Friendly staff aswell

Negatives. Paid 4 euro for wifi that last two hours. Which is ridiculous to start with but in the end it didn't work at all. At least they refunded our money
Our bungalow seemed clean enough however it also seemed really damp. All our stuff was Damp by the time we left.
Also it takes a good 35-40 minutes to get to Rome termini which I didn't mind but if we don't like the travel I wouldn't stay here. Oh and remember that the train you get to the shuttle bus it only stops if u press a button

The site has good amenities and access to central Rome is reltively easy, either by site's own minibus (chargeable) or by bus or bus/metro. Unfortunately the site website makes no mention of a number of changes that are underway. Adjacent to many of the camper van spots is a large construction site which has also taken up a number of their camper van spots. Workers to this site access via the campsite at 7am every morning so you can forget any thoughts of a lie in. The buildings are multi storey flats and will signiificantly alter the outlook for areas of the site such as the pool complex and a number of the campervan locations.

We have just come back from this site and found it very good, very clean facilities we drove our motor home there and were happy to be able to just leave it and catch the train to rome we just worked around the times available (which there were plenty) we had our own food and ate in Rome when we were, we found that prices not different to any major city. We purchased the swim hats which were only 3 euro's anyway. All in all it was a very good site and very good value for money considering all the facilities and the free shuttle bus was a bonus, good to come back to peacful site after a very hot hectic day in Rome.

Me and my boyfriend (aged 19 and 22) went to Happy Village on the 10-14th of June 2013, we intended on spending most of our time in the centre of rome so we didn't mind what the accommodation was like as long as we had a comfy clean bed to sleep in, But having said that we found this place to be terrible! Their was music blearing at 12 at night trough thin walls and everything was heard! It advertised that the centre of rome was only 20 minutes away when really it was an hour, having to take 2 trains and one bus! we had the happy camping shuttle bus to the train station that only went at 8;30,9;30,11, and from 5;30pm-9;30pm which ment you had to rush to eat your dinner in the centre or eat in the only restaurant in the camping village with was extremely over priced! ( 2 paninis and 2 cokes for 14 euro!), there was no signal on both our mobiles the whole stay! so incase of emergencies at night we would no be able to get help. The swimming pool you had to wear swimming hats and it was far from a clean pool, people in Prima Porta where extremely rude to tourists! when where stranded for 3 hours at Prima Porta station on the first day (due to the Happy Camping shuttle bus not running at the time we arrived although the directions said it would be waiting for us) and tried to get help we just got ignorance and people shushing us away, although the people in the centre of rome are lovely! ... bus timetables where all wrong! we nearly missed our plane because of this, the cabins we where staying in where constantly wet and mould was growing everywhere! we also had to pay additional fees of 8 euro tax fees which we where not told about,I recommend spending a little more money to stay in the centre of Rome where the atmosphere and people and scenery is WAYYYY nicer!

Reviewed 7 February 2013

Stayed here for two nights in August 2012 during a European road trip.
Some of my friends had already stayed here previously, so for them, going back was a must.

I had never camped abroad, so the facilities on the various sites around Europe we stayed in, were a big eye-opener for me, compared with what we have in England!!

This site is in a slightly remote location, which I guess is why the shuttle bus worked well. Maybe a little late sometimes but it was definitely in service whilst we were there.

To me, this site is good. We had 4 tents, and we got an area with a space for each, separated by hedges (others in Europe had one tiny space we had to squeeze all four in to).
The facilities are very good - plenty of showers.

The bar area is very modern, and the pool area very good. It was SO hot when we stayed (45 degrees C), so the pool was a must. However they make you buy and wear swimming caps, even if only dangling your legs off the side!! I thought that a little odd :)
We didn't eat there, as when we stayed they had a BBQ and weren't serving the bar menu. We were disappointed as it all sounded so good, and the BBQ wasn't starting until 9pm. This was probably about 7pm and we were starving, so took the shuttle bus and ate at a restaurant (I can't remember the name but it is just up to the right from where the shuttle bus drops you off - it was very good).

They have a good shop at the top of the site with decent opening hours. Until about 11pm if I remember correctly.

We stayed to the left of the entrance, first right. We really enjoyed it as there was only really us in that part, where the rest of the site seemed full!
We had our own toilet and shower block (maybe 6 of each) and opposite those, is a sheltered picnic-type bench area where we escaped from the mozzies and enjoyed a few drinks.

Attached to the right of this there is also a DIY BBQ area with fridge (for beer!!), I bet people could fight over that at the busiest periods! We utilised this on our other night.

I think the price was about €20 per tent per night, not the cheapest we stayed at but I think we would all say the best.

All in all, definitely recommended and some good memories had from here.

This camp was excellent in almost every respect, although the pitches were a little small for a standard sized camping car. Facilities were very good, and the pool was excellent. However, we were very disappointed that the free shuttle service that should have picked us from the train from Rome did not show up at 10.30pm as advertised. The driver then had the cheek to say when questioned the next morning that he WAS there and picked up 8 other campers even although we waited from 10.15pm until finally giving up and getting an €18 taxi at 10.45pm. Not good enough!!
