“Great family place near Vatican”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 June 2010

This was the first place we stayed in Rome. Took a little walking to get there, but it was a great neighborhood and close to the Vatican. The kitchenette was handy to have breakfast and lunch. Several little markets and restaurants nearby. We didn't feel totally like tourists staying here!

This was my second time at Borgo Pio. It is, without question, a great place to stay. I used to live on the same street (Borgo Vittorio) and looked forward to the visit. I've traveled around the world and stayed in 5 star hotels, and besides having lived in Rome I've visited many times, and this place is hard to beat for price, location, and friendly staff.

It is 3-4 minutes walking from St Peter's Basilica, 10-15 minutes from the entrance to the Vatican Museums, 10-15 minutes from Ottaviano Metro Stop, 5 minutes walking from Castle San Angelo and the Bridge of Angels, and 20 minutes to Campo di Fiori or Piazza Navona. Also, you can walk to Piazza del Popolo via Cola di Rienzo in about 25 minutes and, unless you just absolutely need to spend major bucks at a name-brand fashion store down by the Spanish Steps, there are some great places to shop on Cola di Rienzo (also shopping on the way to the Ottaviano Metro stop).

The hotel is about 25 minutes walking to Trastevere and the great restaurants there. There are bars and restaurants around the hotel, and for great pizza go to the Angeli pizzeria on Borgo Angelico, about 3 minutes walking (the restaurants on Borgo Pio, the next street over from Borgo Vittorio, tend to be overpriced tourist traps).

Spend some money and contact the staff directly to book your room, you will save $$$ in the long run, especially if you are booking for a lot of people or staying several days. They are very helpful and courteous.

The rooms I've stayed in have front room with kitchenette (plates, silverware, cups, glasses, all supplied) and small fridge with TV and A/C, bedroom with A/C and armoire, and bathroom with shower (no tub). Beds are very comfortable. Free internet downstairs and there is a washer/dryer downstairs, as well (although you can take your dirty clothes up the street to a laundromat and drop off a load to be washed and dried for 15 euros--hey, would you rather be out walking around or sitting in a basement doing laundry :)

Need a taxi? In front of St Peter's, less than 5 minutes. Ride to/from the airport? 45 euros (this is a good price and the staff will set it up for you). I normally take the train in (14 euros) and then cab it from Termini to Borgo Pio 2000 (about 15-17 euros, depending on traffic). The chaueffeur service to the airport from Borgo Pio is fast, ON TIME, clean, and professional.

We had an excellent stay here, we booked for 2 nights. The pleasure started already at the airport where we were picked up by the shuttle service that the hotel provides. We had an upgrade to a larger room and the rooms themselves were great and were everything we expected. The service is good and they have an office that can provide you with tips, maps and everything you need to know. would stay here again....

I recently stay for a week in Rome at the Trianon Borgo Pio Residence. This place was wonderful after we found it. It is rather hard to find but is in a great location. Situated in a quiet neigborhood not on Borgo Pio which is what confused us at first as Borgo pio is the next street over. This hotel or should i say apartment was wonderful. The staff is amazing and helpful check in super easy. The hotel is a 5 min. walk to the metro and a block and a half (2 min walk) to St. Peters Basilica and The Vatican. There are plenty of places to eat in the area and it is far enough out of the city center yet directly in the city and within the Aurelia walls that your never far from any site. Just hop on the metro (cheap only 1euro) and theres only 2 lines on the metro the A & B so easily manuevered at Ottaviano Station and they intersect at Termini Station so you can get most anywhere by metro. This place was so convenient and roomy with a well equipted kitchen and very clean. I would recomend this place to anyone wanting to experience Rome just like you lived there. I would definatly stay again. The only downside is the sites all say they have satalite TV and they do but everything is in Italian aside from 2 stations CNN World News and one other News network but your in Italy who needs TV trust me theres so much to do you wont miss it but if you need it bring your own portable DVD player or something. I Love This Place and hope to return soon.

My Fiance and I planned our first trip to Rome, Trianon Borgo Pio came recommended via my spouses co workers. We truly enjoyed our stay, had an excellent room with a great view and lots of space. Our only issue was that we had some very loud American travellers move in above us towards the end of our stay so we had to wear earplugs at night. The buildings is close to the Vatican (250m) and good for walking to major attractions if you are into walking (2 - 3 km to Colosseum ) I would recommend this property for as we stayed for 8 nights for 1120 Euros.

This is an apartment style hotel in a business/residential area, on a small, cobblestoned street. The rooms are spacious, the internet is good, the shower and bathroom are good, and the kitchen includes utensils, coffee pot, and sandwich maker. The bus stop is less than 200 meters away, and the Vatican is a 10 minute walk. This is not a place for older people, or strollers, since the streets are cobblestoned. There is no place to really park a car. A great deal for the price. Includes a lift (elevator), which may be the smallest elevator in the world, but it works fine. Staff is helpful, you can buy the Rome pass from them.

This is a great place, if you have two or more children, we had 3 beedrooms and a small kitchen. The hotel is not only next to Vatican so you can do all the required sightseeing in the Vatican (from the St. Peters church to the Museum) very easy, but is close to good shopping and good food stores where you can buy everything you need for breakfast or even dinner if you do not want to go out every night. The restaurants around are not fancy but good. They also arranged transport to and from the airport in a clean car that was prompt both times and the price is comparabale to what you pay on your own. The rooms are clean and staff helpfull.
Of course to go see other things like the Forum, Fontana di Trevi, Spanish steps, etc you need to take a public bus (they go very often and are extremely easy to use).
