“Excellent value, great location, cozy apartment”
Reviewed 29 July 2013

We loved this apartment! It is large, and cozy. We four adults were very comfortable. Two of the bedrooms are very large with large double (or queen/king?) size beds, and the third bedroom with a single bed is also comfortable. The living/dining area is spacious with a baby grand piano. The kitchen is convenient, as we ate breakfast and some dinners in the apartment. The location is absolutely perfect, a 5 minute walk to St. Peter's square, and right around the corner from the Metro which is unusual in Rome. The Wi-fi worked very well. In fact, we were so happy here that we extended our stay for an additional night (total of 6 nights). We did not find the neighborhood noisy. There was a lovely concert in the church one block away on the Saturday night we stayed there. There are a number of convenient nice restaurants, shops, grocery stores nearby, as well as nice shopping for clothing, etc. It is a convenient walk to the Trastevere neighborhood which is very fun, as well as the Borghese Gardens. In fact we walked to the Colosseum and back with no difficulty, having a wonderful time. We were much more comfortable than we were when I stayed in a nice hotel in Rome in 2008, and we saved a lot of money. I highly recommend this apartment! The closets and elevators are perfectly appropriate and typical for Rome. Alessandra the landlady was very helpful. I can't imagine a better choice for a vacation in Rome.

We (4 adults age 70) stayed here 4 nights May 18 to May 22, 2013. Excellent location, close (250 meters) to Metro station and 10 min walk to Vatican. Comfortable, roomy, well equipped, and great service. WiFi was useful and the apartment had everything we needed. The only downside was a small elevator which required multiple trips to get all our luggage. The elevator required that both inner and outer doors be closed by hand, and failure to do so rendered elevator inoperable for all users. There is only one elevator.
I would not hesitate to stay here again!

We stayed at Prati Apartment for four nights with 5 persons family. Below you find some practical remarks.
Pluses:
+ there is a shuttle bus from Fiumicino airport (only 6EUR pp!) to Vatican stopping at via Crescenzio, about 10mins walking to the appartment;
+ perfect location: close to Vatican, metro station, grocery shops and restaurants (one of them offered 10% discount for the guests, really nice place);
+ elevator, small, but enough to fit the luggage;
+ spacious sleeping rooms, flat nicely decorated and beautifully tuned piano, rooms and kitchen well equipped;
+ clean towels and bed linens, hairdryer in the bathroom.
Minuses:
- the inner yard was under construction which we were not informed about, no chance to open the window in one of the sleeping rooms, kitchen and toilet as air get unbearably dusty (does matter for allergic people);
- no initial supply of food;
- two sleeping rooms with windows facing the street were quite noisy (perhaps common for Rome, but worth to mention), garbage picked up even at 11pm! Well, from the second night, after whole days walking, nothing could keep us awake for too long.
Overall, we left Rome with positive impression of the place and the owner, and amazed with the city. Thank you Alessandra for hosting us, we would certainly come back!

Two couples stayed for 4 nights, very roomy for 4 people. Bedrooms were very large for apartments, and a very nice television was provided.
Very close to a metro station and close to the Vatican. A main shopping street is about 3 blocks away. The owner was very nice and answered all our questions. Would stay there again if ever in Rome.

"Yellow Room" and Prati B&B comments:

Location near the Vatican and Metro is good.

Hard to find! No signs, and the address is not clear. Just the name on one of many doorbells.
Not clear that they're on the 2nd floor.

It has a very small and old elevator, and you have to manually close both sets of doors to get it to work. Fits only 1 person and a bag. If a person leaves one of the elevator doors partly open on an upper floor, it will NOT move, and you'll be stuck taking the stairs.

Tiny room! Roughly 9' x 9'. Enough room for a small bed and room to get around it.

Surprisingly noisy area at night, and with an early morning garbage pickup that varied between 0030 and 0630. Windows (closed) provide NO noise reduction. Bring ear plugs!

Shutters and translucent curtains do NOT block all light, so don't plan on sleeping-in.

Breakfast is prepared individually, put on a wheeled tray, and placed outside your door. Choice of salty (2 slices of ham & 3 slices of cheese) or sweet (unknown). Choice of coffee or tea thermos of hot water & 2 choices of tea (green or black, with 2 bags of each) with honey (sometimes) & sugar. Also includes a pitcher of juice, a pre-packaged croissant, toast, butter, jam, & cookies. She puts the tray outside your door at 0800, and expects it back where you found it at 0900 sharp.

The bathroom has an electric sewage pump, so it makes noise during a shower and after using the toilet. Make sure you don't put anything besides the provided toilet paper in the toilet, or you'll be paying for the repair of the pump. (She has a warning sign above the toilet.). There's barely any room to sit on the toilet, and I'm a short and skinny guy.
The electric vent fan puts the air into the bedroom, not outside. Depending on your diet, this is NOT a pleasant experience.
The toilet may occasionally run, but just hit the "button" a few times for the flapper to seal.
Only 1 small light in bathroom. Not good for shaving, so I'm sure it's not good for women to put on makeup.

For the shower, turn the handle to the right (counter-clockwise) for hot water. It'll take a minute (literally) to get it, but it has an ample supply day or night, IF the neighboring room is not using the shower or toilet. If they are, expect some cold shocks. The water pressure is minimally acceptable IF the neighboring room is not using their shower or toilet.

No soap or shampoo - bring your own.

Small tv (only about 16" diagonal flat screen.). 298 channels, but all in Italian.

Has a small air conditioner, but not needed in spring or fall with the window open. A ceiling fan with a light would've been great.

No closet, but a small place to hang 7 pieces of clothing. A total of 6 small drawers (approx. 12" x 12" each) for underwear & socks. The shelf only supports a small suitcase.

Bed was comfortable, NOT the typical hard European "wood door".

Unusual mix of decor: cheap-looking fishing boats & ship paintings mixed with African art, all with the expected Madonna and baby Jesus above the bed. I'd get rid of the cheap stuff and focus on items related to Rome. This isn't Africa...

Check-out time is 0930, not the typical 1100. She will NOT hold your luggage for you either. Sucks if you have an afternoon flight.

Has free wi-fi, but it doesn't always work, and not very fast.

We had our breakfast ready at 8am. she gave us generous servings. We had a lovely time in Rome. its is very close to the vatican city and to the ottaviano metro station.. The shopping center and restaurants are also close by. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone who wishes to stay in Rome

I visited Rome in the mid of March 2013 and stayed in the Prati Vatican Apartment. The apartment has excellent location, cuz it is 10 min walk from Vatican museums and St.Peter's Basilica. And it is also right by the Ottaviano metro station which is really good, cuz it's only 10 min to Piazza di Spagna if you take a metro. The area is good, there are many restaurants and shops. There are two rooms in the apartment: yellow and blue. I stayed in yellow room. It was furnished just enough: queen size bed, a round table and a closet. I stayed there alone, so it was just great for one person. The apartment is clean, shower is tiny but as long as it has a hot water it is good))) Pricewise, I think it equals to 4 star hotel. The owner provided me with the city map and explained me about transportation. She also served a breakfast every morning at 8am. There were no variety in breakfast meals, but the coffee was excellent. Although I thought it was quiet district, it was quite noisy at night. So, I recommend to bring earplugs with you. Hope this review will help you.
