The Osimar is a great hotel, it has recently been re-furbished, it's neat, clean and tidy, the staff are very helpful, if there's a problem they sorted it out immediately, my husband and I and 3 others stayed 3 nights recently in May and we found the beds really comfortable, rooms were lovely and clean, decor minimalist but very fresh. The breakfast was more than adequate with a good choice of cereal, yoghurts, cheese, ham, salami, croissants and pastries (yummy), juices, toast, a great coffee machine, Twinings tea selection, what more could you ask for, very nice and help yourself. There's a lovely little terrace outside which they have made very pleasant, we had breakfast outside every morning, very nice. The location is great, you are only a 15 minute walk to Bologna metro station and only 5 stops to The Colloseum, takes no time. All the major attractions are very easily reached. The area itself is a residential area with plenty of nice restaurants, we dined in Rosso Tiziano, we had an excellent meal and met the lovely owner Fabio, I also recommend Novecento, again a truly fantastic Italian dining experience, no tourists in there, all Italian diners. The Bar Zeus is very close and great for a night cap. For a 3* hotel it is great value for money, the staff were very helpful and friendly, a great choice! Thank you hotel Osimar, from the Doherty family, we hope to come again.

Room Tip: They all seem fine to us.

Coming from the train station at first it was not so easy to find the hotel, and we had to call them to get some help. The Staff were helpful enough and gave us all the information we needed about public trasportation and museums. Breakfast was average and the room was ok; the air conditioning was quite noisy, other than that we were satisfied for the price that we paid for.

We stayed for 6 nights and our room was not ready when we arrived in the evening. Due to the fact that the street corner outside outside our window was the smoking and discussion point for the longstay hotelguest, our room smelled of smoke all the time. Also the disussions were load and going on late both outside and in the staircases it was very hard to catch sleep.
Some oh the personel spoke English and very helpful. Very nice coffeshop 2 corners off. and a neighborhood that gave a goog picture of the true Rome of today!
Good metro connetctions and trains to Tiburtina! Hard for taxis to find.

Osimar hotel ensured us very pleasant one-week stay in Roma! The location of the hotel is really perfect! Everything you need is so near. Metro, shops, restaurants, swimming pool... Then, the hotel personnel was very accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was good too, but maybe we just missed some fruit... I liked rooms, they were clean, but there was kinda bad view from window... But we enjoyed our visit to Roma, staying in this hotel, and we all thank you, Osimar:)

The staff is very polite, nice and helpful! The rooms are average, but absolutely comfortable to stay in.
They could do some more cleaning around the hotel, and in the rooms. And sadly, the breakfast is very simple.

Short way to the Metro, so you are in the city in just few minutes ;)

My friend and I stayed in a room with twin beds at the start of Oct 2013 for our 4 night holiday in Rome. I chose the hotel, which is always a worry in case you choose somewhere terrible but this one didn't embarrass me and was actually great value. That said, I wouldn't go straight back when next in Rome but I wouldn't refuse to go there either as it was a good deal for the price.

Pros:
* Good central location for the sights - 15-20 mins walk from Bologna Metro or Bus Stops (and excellent ice- cream shop on the way makes this journey feel short ;) )
* Fairly quiet (with windows shut and aircon off)
* staff are friendly and helpful but not creepy/too friendly
* decent breakfast (pastries, yogurts, juice, ham, cheese, toast, jam)
* close to shops/restaurants the locals use but still a quite neighbourhood area
* 25 mins from Ciampino airport by taxi
* they will accommodate your needs like early breakfast/phone to book restaurant etc.

Cons:
* apart from breakfast and a vending machine, no food available
* despite leaving the card saying "please clean my room" on the door knob every day we only had our room cleaned/replenished on one out of four occasions.
* if you sleep with the window open it can be noisy with local kids playing and scooters raring up and down the road
* if you sleep with aircon on it is very noisy and rattles
* can be hard to find the first time as it is slightly hidden. Our local taxi driver got lost.
* even though we slept with the window closed, we were covered (covered!) in itchy bites within a day or two - maybe bedbugs? Though we didn't see any so that's not confirmed
* toilet would only flush twice in a row and then give up the ghost for half hour and wouldn't flush again until it recovered

Overall though for 4 nights this hotel was quite fine, I gave it a 3 out of 5 overall mark but I suppose when you consider how much cheaper it is than a lot of similar hotels maybe I was a bit tight with that and it could have had a 4/5.

Tips:
If you do stay here ask for toilet roll every day as you pass reception at the end of the day in case your room is not cleaned (as their rolls are not very big so use up quickly!)
You can buy bus tickets from the hotel and get the bus either nearby or from bologna (depending which bus), you're supposed to stamp the bus ticket on the bus but we saw that the locals never do this and so we stopped doing it too and never got stopped. This meant we could travel everywhere for 4 days for free with just one un-validated ticket (you do have to use it if going on the metro though to get through the barrier). Once we realised this however we made all our trips by bus since it was a nicer way to see the sights anyway than going underground.
When walking back to the hotel from Bologna there are two gelato places to choose from where you can get 3 scoops for 2 euro.. a nice way to pass the walk!
Make sure not to miss out on the brilliant restaurant that is 5 mins walk from the hotel "Rosso Tiziano". Amazing and cheap food on your doorstop that was the highlight of our meals in Rome.

Small room. Felt like faulty towers , toilet seat loose, toilet roll holder loose, hairdryer not practical, shower base needed replacing, shower doors needed replacing. Bedrooms needs updating snd redecorating. Staff helpful but didn't agree with 2 euro charge extra per person per night when checking out and paying through travel company already. Breakfast very poor and most days waitress miserable only on last day did we get a very efficient young lady in dining room. 15 min walk to underground Bologna station easy enough but too far out if going back for shower and change as we did then out again in the evening.
hotel needs total refurbishment and decent breakfast not sure what some people are used to with sll the good reviews but not to our standard
