“Beautiful Hotel”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

Even though this hotel is in an industrial location, it is beautiful and has everything you need without leaving the grounds. Bar, restaurant, spa and pool. We are Gold Elite status with Marriott, so they upgraded us to a lovely suite on the concierge level.

Arrived here after a cruise, about 1/2 hour from the port. Beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. Excellent wonderfully appointed rooms. Received a wonderful upgrade. Rooms were warm and difficult to cool down. Shuttles were available on the hour to the city. Beautiful dining area with an excellent breakfast.

Very comfy beds but the knob on our door was loose and one hair dryer was missing. It never got fixed after we asked. However, a nice stay and very comfy. Ate at a local venue which was good. Hotel is outside of rome but easy to get too. Stay friendly, too.

Room Tip: Room service will provide ice if you ask.

We flew into FCO and used this hotel as a two night base before getting a cruise out of Civitavecchia. There is a scheduled shuttle from the airport which worked very well, except that they insist on cash payment when you arrive at the hotel - we couldn't charge it to our room.

The hotel is set on a hill and is visible from miles away, it is a huge complex and its main raison d'etre seems to be as a conference facility.

We arrived in the evening and went for a walk round the area of the hotel - other than a well fenced housing complex, a Toyota factory and an AlItalia office complex, there is nothing in walking distance - no shops and no restaurants. The executive lounge stops serving food and alcohol at 7.30pm so we finished up eating in the hotel, which wasn't too bad. The staff were very pleasant and had no problem with us sharing a plate of club sandwiches.

There is no breakfast served in the exec lounge, so we were comped in the restaurant which was a nice touch - lovely fruit, cold and sweet selection, but the 'warm items' weren't particularly appealing.

The hotel provides a scheduled shuttle into the city centre, which we took advantage of and I have to say worked very well - we were able to charge the tickets to our room and the nightmare traffic on the way into the city made me glad I wasn't driving.

That evening we went out to the huge pool complex to enjoy the sun and had a meal in the exec lounge - both were very good.

The morning we left, we asked advice from the concierge as to the best way to get to Civitavvacchia - he offered a hotel car for 130 euro but suggested a cheaper option would be a local taxi for 20 euros to Roma Aurelia train station where the train to Civitavvechia is4 euro per person.

This would have worked well - other than the fact the the Italian railway company in its wisdom chose to cancel three trains, leaving us with a very expensive taxi ride, but there is no way the hotel could be blamed for this - we just got shrugs of the shoulder and the explanation that these things happen in Italy!!

In conclusion nice hotel, but probably a little far out of the city centre to use as a site seeing base without a car.

This hotel is in a great location if you are heading to the airport. Although it is not very close to the city (about 30-40min) the amenities and grounds wont keep you in downtown for long. We enjoyed the pool and the restaurant while at this hotel for one night only. After being in the city for 3 days it was time to have some relaxation time. In typical Marriott style this is sure not to disappoint. Our only minor problem was the AC in our room was not great but we after speaking to other guests the next morning it seems it was only our room with the minor problem. We will return next time in Rome.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on high floor facing the pool on the "B" side of the hotel for the best vie...

Visited this place again - since there are no other Marriott family hotels in the area since the closure of the Courtyard Airport Marriott (became Leonardo da Vinci hotel).
In general nothing much have changed.
Rooms are more or less the same, with very traditional old classic type design. Everything worked fine (though initially I had to go down to call maintenance to check the electricity - turned out the main switch was either turned off or deactivated due to whatever reasons).
Breakfast spread was ok. It was however busy as again the hotel seems to cater to large tour groups and also convention groups.
Lounge was open - warm food from 1730 to 1930 every week day evening. Outside of these hours, the lounge is unattended and only soft drinks and coffee/tea available.
Again main negative point (which I have complained to the hotel management - and no results) is guests have to pay for parking which is ridiculous as the parking lot is always empty, even on a weekday and the hotel itself has so many parking spaces around which remains empty.
Shuttle to the airport is available on a pay basis and other arrangement to Rome city center can be arranged.

Dear nldogbert,
Thank you for taking the time to post your note on Tripadvisor! We are pleased that you gave us the possibility to host you once again in Rome; we are always more than pleased to welcome repeated guests as well as comments that can help us in improving our services. With reference to the parking space, I would like to stress out that the parking space provided is managed and constantly patrolled by our security department, in order to offer our guests a safe place where to park and leave the car. I hope you will come back soon again, please contact us anytime!

We stayed here for one night after a cruise and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was huge by Europe standards and the bed was great, by Marriott standards. Ordered pasta bolognese and Caesar salad which was excellent. Executive lounge was good. Evening snacks consisted of almost a complete meal. Very quiet rooms. I would stay here again, when in Rome. Airport shuttle was only 5 euros, compared with 40 euro cab ride from airport.
