“Live like a Roman... in total comfort”
Reviewed 27 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed a week at the Scalea di Trastevere apartment. It was perfectly situated on a quiet residential street that gave me the feeling that I was living like a regular Roman, not a tourist. It was a short walk away from restaurants and shops in the cobblestone streets of Trastevere. It had climate perfect air conditioning for hot August Roman days. It was furnished with everything you would need for a short or longer stay. Highly recommend, and plan to rent it again on my next visit to Rome.

“A GREAT Home Away from Home in Rome !”
Reviewed 2 August 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Book it now.
La Scalea di Trastevere earns every bit of praise I offer PLUS more..
I've tried various hotels and apartments in Rome over the years and,
after a full month here, I HIGHLY recommend this apartment.
I come to Rome to shoot photographs and study painting. After long days of painting and/or touring museums and galleries, returning to a spacious temporary home where I can cook my own meals with fresh ingredients from the neighborhood open market, put my feet up in air conditioned comfort and sleep in pristine clean quiet was WONderful.
La Scalea di Trastevere offers more amenities than most hotels....a kitchen complete with fridge, stove, dish washer and every utensil needed to cook, a washing machine, air conditioning (essential for summer in Rome), and comfortable beds. It's important to mention the apartment has WIFI plus plenty of outlets. The linens are changed weekly, cleaning service is available, there's even a vacuum cleaner.
Perhaps one of the biggest selling point is the landlord...and when was the last time you heard THAT phrase. Giovanni and his family are warm, friendly, responsible and responsive to questions/issues.
Another HUGE selling point....location, location, location.
The apartment is literally around the corner from the heart of Rome's liveliest neighborhood..
Trastevere has SO many restaurants, small shops and street entertainers. The rest of the city's destination points are just a short cab ride away if you don't feel like walking.
If your group is large you might have to schedule shifts for the shower since the bathroom is like most European bathrooms, on the small side. But's it's pristine and includes linens and a hair dryer.
If you must have room service and a mints on your pillow, you will find it in Rome but La Scalea di Trastevere is perfect for more independent travelers who want an economical home away from home in Rome in the center of one the world's great cities.
I can't say enough !

“Practical and pleasant in Trastevere”
Reviewed 1 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

The flat is just what four people need, we were two adults with two children aged 8 and 14. Air Condition, Dishwasher, Washingmashine etc. Giovanni answered all my questions quickly, and he also helped me with pick up for the airport. The flat was very practical and useful, with little noise from the streets. The flat is located a little outside the old Trastevere, witch we found relaxing. There are plenty of small shops to buy food, and lovely places to eat in the surroundings. Giovanni explained where to go for food and tram on the map. We absolutely reccomend this flat for a stay in Rome.

well located home with easy walking or public transportation access to many of the main sites in Rome. Also easy train stop from airport. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Don't miss the walk/hike to the top of the hill to see the view. Host was extremely helpful and generous. The air conditioning was welcome. The apartment was very comfortable and homey, decorated with original art. We felt fortunate to have found this spot. Building very secure.

Better than expected. Great location. Restaurants close by, supermarket. Easy to walk to Roman Forum, if desired. We did walk back admiring the Tiber River. River probably 10 min walk at leisurely pace. Found catching taxi's easy by booking online. The apartment, Well laid out and the bathroom was enjoyed by the children as they felt they were going to Narnia land each time. You need to stay to understand. Owner kindly booked taxi for us on departure to get to the airport. Very kind. Explained in better English than my Italian how items worked including how to restart hotwater if trips off. Which it did! No drama hold the button until red turns to green. Easy. Wireless worked and seemed a great pace. Not slow. The stairs outside were great fun for our two to run up/down burning off some energy each night. People we met in the lobby over our 4 day stay were always polite and said hello- of course in Italian but I am sure you will understand. Mixture of restaurants and lively with wine bars. I see in the local guide books (3) of them left at the premises mentions night clubs but of course that wasn't for us on this trip. The apartment even had spare umbrellas to use but that wasn't required during our stay. Had a lot of brochures including tour maps of Rome. All an added bonus. Thank you for making this place available. Met by owner on arrival and had contact mobile number in case we were delayed.

The appartment is on the ground floor of a well kept building, quiet looking out on a courtyard with plants. It has all the amenities a visitor needs, is meticulously clean and is complete with a washing machine, dish washer, microwave etc. its owner Giovanni is a courteous and very helpful gentleman.
Trastevere is well served by public transport (tram, busses). Viale Glorioso is a few tramstops away from the train station Trastevere, from where a regular train connects with Fiumicino Airport.
We spent ten happy days in the appartment and will certainly rent it again on our next visit to Rome.

“Fantastic appartment. Great location.”
Reviewed 15 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We have just returned from an amazing holiday in Rome staying at this appartment. Appartment is situated in lovely quiet residential area with nearby access to shops and restaurants. Took us about 30 mins to walk to St Peters square along a lovely quiet route. Beautiful views over Rome from nearby hill. Tram stop is 5 minutes from appartment with regular trams and buses into the centre if you prefer this to walking.
The appartment itself is fantastic. It is a lot bigger than it looks on the photos. Extremely well fitted out with all new facilities. Small but well equipped kitchen. Plenty of living space and lovely bedrooms. The owner was there to greet us and explain all the facilities and nearby area including public transport. He was really helpful and returned all my messages very quickly. Appartment was spotlessly clean and owners had provided lots of extras like teabags, oil, salt and pepper, shower gel etc. A lot of thought had been given to making the appartment feel homely and relieve any stress for the guests.
I cannot recommend the appartment highly enough. We are hoping to go back on day. Appartment would suit any age of family or four adults. Thanks Giovanni for an amazing stay!
