I cannot fault this lovely hotel - it is within walking distance from Termini Station and the main attractions, with the exception of The Vatican, which is perhaps a little too far (40 mins).
Our room was modern, quiet and super clean - the same lady came to clean it and to change our towels and toiletries every single morning, for 7 days.
Breakfast was simple, but sufficient: they have sweet croissants and cake every morning, toast with butter and jam, cereal, coffee, milk and orange juice. If you are a morning meat eater, you will not find it too filling.
The staff were all very kind and helpful, they provided us with all the information we needed and we are grateful for that. There is wifi, but only in the lobby - you can check your email in the breakfast room or on the small terrace in front of it.
Overall, a lovely first stay in Rome and for our next visit we will definitely choose the same hotel.

This hotel looks more like your typical mama-run family pension.
It saved my life when my booked hotel failed to host me.
It has all the amenities you can ask (rather big shower, clean room, efficient A/C, big window) for 90 euros a night on a Saturday evening during summer school holidays.
No nonsense, fair price.

Room Tip: I had a quiet room on the inner court. Not sure whether they have rooms on the very busy Via Naziona...

We had originally booked accomodation in Barberini in a rental apartment however after one dreadful sleepless night, we decided it was unbearable and looked for another place to stay in Rome. We were very fortunate that Hotel Galatea had availability as our stay in Rome coincided with the canonisation of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II.

We stayed in Hotel Galatea for four nights and it provided all the basic amenities.

Pros:
- Clean rooms, comfortable bed, tv and super spacious bathroom
- Friendly staff - there was no kettle in the room, but the reception was able to provide us with hot water
- Close walk to Republica metro station and Roma Termini (although if you are coming or going to Roma Termini late at night, recommended to catch a cab which is less than 10 Euros)
- 15-20mins to Colosseum. We actually walked to most major attractions in Rome from our hotel. The only time we took the metro was to go to Vatican City. We did however walk from Vatican City back to the hotel which is doable if you enjoy walking!
- Free breakfast including italian coffee, "american" coffee, sweet croissants and chocolate croissants, breads, cornflakes, preserved fruit salad.
- Close to restuarants and gelato

Cons:
- Free wifi is available only in the courtyard and breakfast area
- No kettle or tea and coffee making facilities

We were travelling with parents and our little 3 month kid. The hotel was extremely kind to give us a Suite with two separate rooms, with a door the the hallway. Okay beds, maybe to the hard side for some, but besides that it was a very good hotel for the money. The only negative thing is the breakfast, which is a bit spartan if it should be sufficient until lunch.
But all in all a very nice hotel, with kind hosts in the reception and at breakfast. Definitely worth another visit.

We stayed five nights in the hotel - the price-performance ratio is optimal.
The room was small, cleanliness ok, nice bathroom and very friendly staff at reception. Breakfast is kontintental and sufficient.
The location is very good to explore Rome by foot- when I had questions the staff at the reception always advised me well.
Located in the city center, about 10 minutes' walk from Termini. To Colosseum about 15 min, to Fontana di Trevi 15 minutes. Good access to public transport (metro, bus). Located in a relatively quiet side street, bars and restaurants are in the immediate vicinity. Shopping streets as well.

We have all attractions (except the Vatican) visited on foot - super!

Except for the location, which is not bad, everything else was disappointing, attending on the value charged per night. Wifi doesn't work, breakfast is too poor, the night receptionist was rude and not helpful. The room and WC were ok.
