“A touch of affordable luxury”

Some may find the Capannelle a little far out of town but if you want a swimming pool and a location in the heart of ‘real’ Rome for a bargain price, I would thoroughly recommend it. The rooms are clean and a good size, the breakfast is excellent and the small pool is very welcome to cool-off in after a day of sightseeing around Rome. Use the hotel shuttle bus to take you to the Cinecitta metro station in the morning where you can catch a train into the heart of Rome for just a few Euros. It takes about 25-35 minutes depending on where you want to go in central Rome and it can become very busy in the morning. On return, get the metro to Colli Albani station and catch a bus (664/663) back to the hotel. It is easy once you have done it the first time and you get a taste of real Rome using public transport.

For visitors from the UK, Rome is dirt cheap at the moment and if you shop around slightly away from the main attractions you can get a fantastic coffee for less than a euro, a huge meal for less than 10 euros and world class ice-cream for less than 3 euro. You should expect to put on at least a kilogram in weight for every day you stay in Rome – well I did, anyway!

The evening meals in the hotel are rubbish and the little eating shops close to the hotel are no better but if you walk down to the main road (Via Appia Nuova) and go to the left for about 400m you come to a lovely little restaurant now called Gusto. The food is great and cheap by UK standards. It is a nice local restaurant so you feel you are getting some authentic Roman life not the tourist version you are fed in central Rome. There is also a supermarket about 100m from the hotel (to the left) which sells everything at Italian prices (not tourist rates) which are generally much, much lower than in the UK. For example a bottle of Cava is only 2 euros and a 500ml bottle of beer is just 1.70 euros.

If you are combining some 'cultural enrichment' with a bit a budget sunbathing I would recommend the hotel Capannelle.

We found it on www.booking.com. It was an relaxing, and the cheapeast alternative after a long car journey. Rooms are big and wonderful. Though it must have more shuttles to center.Especially in night.

We spent a week here as part of a tour of Italy. The hotel is on the outskirts of Rome with a shuttle bus to the metro which takes @ 12 minutes. From there all the main attractions are within easy reach. The public bus also has regular services with a number of bus stops very close to the hotel. Just ask at Reception for information.
The hotel is large, has good sized rooms with free wifi and a pool which is unusual in Rome. The staff were very helpful and the food prices reasonable.
This is not a reflection on the hotel or its surrounding area but a cautionary word of warning about Rome. The city centre appears to have more than its share of pickpockets. We met three people in as many days who had been victims of thieves. Take sensible precautions to protect your valuables and don't let them ruin your holiday.

I spent 1 night in this hotel, I chose it because it was near Ciampino Airport (15 min by cab) as well as the Ippodromo delle Capannelle (walking distance) where I had to go. The check in was at 14 but they told me I could use the swimming pool even before and the following day I was allowed to use it way past my check out time which was great because my plane was late in the afternoon.
The room was huge and confortable, the bathroom clean and the mini-bar prices were not a rip-off. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good and the lunch I had in their restaurant was good too.
The only issue I had was a strange noise in the room during the night that I couldn't manage to identify.

Very spacious and clean room. Also bathroom was of a good size and clean. We stayed for 5 days and room was well maintained, cleaned properly and fresh towels every day. Free parking with plenty of space is a plus. Only downfall is the size of the pool and pool area. Not very spacoius but ok to cool off. Breakfast is good (5 euro/person) buffet style with some variety but generally same food every day. Over all I would recommend this hotel to a friend. It was worth the price and some for what we paid.
Staff was very freindly and helpful. We experienced some rental car issues and the front desk helped us resolve the issue. A BIG thanks to them.

Furniture had wear signs, bathroom was clean, but found previous guest hair in the bathtub. Towels were changed daily, bad smelling reception, when entering the hotel lobby the toilet odor hits you. The swimming pool is only 1,50 meters deep, very chlorinated water...I only stayed for 5 minutes and then I was disgusted by the water and the dirt mark all over the water border line. The restaurant is quite expensive, I personally preferred eating downtown Rome, near the Fontana di Trevi and Colosseum, than spending the same amount or more on the hotel´s restaurant which was located between the reception lobby and the pool and not separated from the people´s traffic. Breakfast was OK, served in the -1 level, there were no vegetables, only 2 sorts of cheese, one of bacon, omelet, croissants, coffee, tea...nothing to impress you, like other 4 star hotels where I traveled. I have booked 2 months earlier and got a 40 euros per night rate for double room, so considering this price is a good value hotel for staying in Rome. Distance to downtown Rome is 10 km, I had a rented car, I don´t know how comfortable is the location if you use public transportation.

I stayed here for 1 night in July 2012. My room was really really lovely, bathroom was really clean and quite modern, AC worked (which is EXTREMELY important in Italy in the summer!) I stayed here because I was flying back to England the next day from Ciampino airport and the hotel operates a shuttle. I was flying at 10am so the 7am shuttle was perfect for me, which was lucky because the next one wasn't until 4pm. If you are staying here for the airport shuttle I highly recommend you contact them first and check the times. They are not very regular. The only problems I had really was the fact that I came down to reception to get some information about the area (underground closing time, restaurants etc) and I had to queue for 20mins, because there was a long line at reception and only one person working the desk. Luckily I wasn't in a hurry. Then the morning I was leaving the shuttle left at 7am, breakfast is served at 7am. So no food for me. Wasn't really happy about that. Anyway that didn't take away from the fact that the hotel is very nice and I had a good nights sleep and the wake up call I asked for was on time, as was the shuttle the next day.
