This hotel has many positives such as: i) comfortable & specious rooms (the bathroom incl). which were always very tidy.
ii) It has Free Wifi.
iii)The reception desk were very helpful; by explaining how we have to travel to the Centre & by solving some other queries.
iv)It offers a bus shuttle to the Colli Albani Metro Starion. However it only works till the early hours in the evening. So if one wants to stay longer; has to take a bus and walk about 200m back to the Hotel.
V) breakfast is fine with a lot of coffee & pastries options.
However the most negative is the location which is too far from the Centre and is not well connected. As I said earlier you have to walk, catch a bus and an underground train to find yourself in the centre.
If you know the area I suggest the hotel however if you hate boarding buses and walking it is not the hotel for you.

The hotel is great and the cost is very very good. Its a little bit far from downtown, but theres a bus from hotel to the metro station. The pool is really good, breakfast is delicious. In room everything works. The first day we were there there was no bus and train, so we had to spend all the time in hotel, cause theres nothing interesting near to the hotel. We had a good time at the pool ;)
The best was the price, we got a free night.

We arrived back from 6 nights in Italy on Thursday with the last 3 nights spent at the Hotel Capannelle. After booking this hotel late last year there have been a number of excellent and poor reviews so we where unsure what to expect.

However we where very pleased with the, facilities, location and staff.

Facilities:-

The Rooms are spacious, comfy and complete with aircon. Nice showers and Towels add to the comfort. We had a fridge in our room which we filled with our own drinks without any complaint. The pool despite on reviewer saying it was green on the same day we where there was not. It was perfect for a gentle swim with my 3 year old although a little cold, but the hotel cannot be held responsible for the weather!

We did not eat in the restaurant, however we did have breakfast for the 3 days and really enjoyed it, granted if you are arriving expecting a full English or American breakfast you will probably be disappointed, but if your a little more open minded the selection is great. Everyday we had options of cereal, yoghurt, bread, cold meats, cheese and more pastries than you can shake a stick at. 3 types of fruit juice, tea options and coffee as you would expect made for an enjoyable start to the day.

Location:-

The hotel is not in the centre of Rome, they do not pretend to be and anyone who books it will obviously do a little research and checked a map. However for us this added to the experience, the local eateries are cheap and tasty, the local shops are reasonably priced and its just all a little calmer.

We ate 2 nights at a local Pizza Takeaway, just some plastic tables and chairs outside it but for 21 euros we had more than enough food and drink for 3 and we could probably have spent half as much if we had not wanted to try a few things.

The Shuttle Bus is much complained about on here despite numerous posters mentioning other ways to get to Rome. We personally did not feel the need to use the Shuttle Bus for getting to Rome or the Airport, life is a little more fun when you explore a little. The train station is less than 15 minutes even with my 3 year old (with an nice park about half way for those with children) You should be able to use a BIT but I would recommend picking up a few returns from one of the ticket machines in Rome on your way to the hotel, they do not have to be bought date specific as working out which shop sells the tickets can be tricky.

The train takes, less than 10 minutes, costs 2 Euros return and is fairly regular, we walked out 2 large suitcases to the station to give you an idea of the ease of getting there. The trains are much less crowded than the Metro, which is a plus with luggage and children.

Staff:-

We come to the staff last but not least, I am not sure why some people expect them all to be fluent English speakers, should they all speak German and Japanese too? All the staff I encountered had a good level of English and a phrase book helped with any clarification. The rooms are well cleaned every day and we where always greeted with a cheery Bonjourno when passing any of the staff.

In conclusion the Hotel Capannelle is not only good value but a very nice hotel, it is not 5 star but it is not 5 star prices, it is a good quality and comfortable hotel in a nice suburban location and I would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at the hotel in April. Rooms are spacious, clean, nice and tidy.
Staff - improvement needed indeed.
We had breakfast - the first two days it was OK, after that it was one and the same each and every day. What was really annoying was the fact that they have a really big restaurant but we could have breakfast in only one smaller part of it and there were moments when it was too crowded and difficult to find a table. Waiters - unfriendly and frowning.

This hotel sounds great on paper but in reality it doesn't quite live up to the hype. I would even go so far as to say it borders on false advertisement. The free airport transfer the hotel advertises runs only twice a day so if your flight in Rome lands after the second pickup, which is quite early in the day, you're out of luck and must take a taxi. The hotel also advertises the great balcony with a bar that overlooks the city. After making my way to the roof, I was shocked to see that it was absolutely bare. No tables, no chairs, and definitely no bar. It is a nice lookout spot but really all that you can see are old houses and open fields. No great city views. The service here was not very friendly as well. After complaining about the confusing shuttle service (which has a not so safe driver by the way), the staff was not helpful in the slightest.

Apart from its distance from the city, the only thing bad about this hotel was the carpet in the breakfast room, staff were good, rooms were good, food was o.k, spotless everywhere, except the carpet in the breakfast room which is disgusting.

We stayed at Capannelle for our New years trip to Rome.
The hotel is far from Fiumicino airport - taxi charges start from 60 Eur, if you negotiate with the driver.
The hotel is nice and quiet, in a residential area. If you wish to go to city center, you have to take the bus (bus ride is around 15-20 min) to the closest metro station (metro ride to center is around 10 min) - overall it takes some 45 min to get from the hotel to the center.
Rooms are quite modern, and clean; view is nice as well.

The bathrooms are big, and rooms are spacious as well, which is uncommon for hotels in Rome.

Breakfast is varied; lots of pastries, tea&coffee assortments, cereal, yogurt, fruits etc. The eggs were really bad, though - made of powdered eggs I guess...

Hotel staff is helpful and polite.
Overall we had a great time and would recommend to friends and family!
