“Villa Laetitia”

Have just returned from Rome and stayed in this amazing hotel. We stayed in the 'Karl' room, inspired by Mr Lagerfeld! Beautifully decorated and sketches by the man himself adorn the walls. The attention to detail is amazing, with even the wine glasses in the room having the hotel brand etched on.. A small patio surrounded by bay trees made for a relaxing place to rest after along day sightseeing.

Location in an affluent residential area of Rome means you are 20-25 minutes away from the madness, but this brings with it the benefits of bars and restaurants which are tourist free, serving great food and drinks. The staff recommendations are spot on.

I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting an individual place to stay where the staff make you feel at home and couldn't do enough for you. If you do choose to go and are planning to get a taxi from the airport, e-mail the hotel in advance and get them to arrange a pick up. This service for us was actually cheaper than the set fare the airport taxis were charging.

The hotel is creating more rooms and suites with a spa in the near future, so will become even better! We are planning a return trip very soon.

On arrival, we requested a different room, b/c the "Round Room" felt a bit damp/dank (it's a 100 year old mansion keep in mind...) - they were great and moved us into the Gold Room which we really liked - like a studio suite in NYC, size-wise... Funky decor and Karl Lagerfield sketches on the walls... Sky TV with english channels (you can turn language to English on US shows and movies...)... Great bed and very fine sheets... Breakfast was good... Eva was very helpful and responsive - I needed a massage and she had me in to see the therapist for the national soccer team the next day (it was torture, but effective...)... Don't leave your doors open for there are zillions of mozzies waiting in the garden... We really liked the location - it's quiet in a 'hood where you see no tourists, right on the river... 10 minutes walk to the Vatican, 20 minutes to Spanish Steps - we walked everywhere from there (Colosseum was a tad far)... Good food nearby - try L'Arcangelo or Cacio y Pepe for simple classic fare... We will definitely go back again... [Yes the showers are small, but its Rome, everything is smaller)... It's a great value, and its eclectic...

Room Tip: We stayed in a Deluxe room which had good space; the standard would be pretty small so upgrade from...

We've got a strong recommendation from our friends so we have selected Villa Laetitia for the last 2 nights of our Italian holidays. We were not disappointed but had some mixed feelings about the place.
LOCATION
Villa is located north of Trastevere and Vatican what means that you need to walk around 25 minutes to get to Vatican and more than 30 to Trastevere. Around 25 minutes walk to Spanish steps as well. On the other hand a metro station is relatively close to the hotel. Villa is next to the river and on the busy street but as the rooms are in the outbuilding (at least our room was there) you can hardly hear any traffic noise. So in principle if you are looking for the hotel in a quiet location slightly out of the action - this is clearly a good choice.
RECEPTION
Very professional, attentive - just as you would expect in such a boutique hotel.
ROOM
We took a deluxe room with the small balcony. The design is really exceptional - not that I am a big fan of such an "anti-minimalistic" design but is really something that you would not get in a standard hotel. Room was comfortable, size very decent. there were 2 bathrooms, kitchenette and a bed for a 3rd - although - for a rather small person. Balcony was a really nice addition. Soundproofing rather poor - although no noise from the traffic -we could still hear our neighbours.
OTHER ELEMENTS
Breakfast was OK - but the real gem is a garden, very big as for the city, very nicely kept, with the fantastic ambiance.
Overall we were satisfied with the stay at Villa Laetitia.

The rooms are like economy apartments and contain a kitchenette, which was nice. The bed was comfy, and to our surprise, the tv had channels for opening weekend of college football. Woot! However, the shower TINY even for Europe. I kept bumping myself on the door handle and couldn't turn around easily. It also didn't drain well, so we had to lather, turn of the water, and then rinse to avoid standing in a pool while washing. This was annoying, but the size of it really got to me.

The location is on the other side of the river near the Vatican. It's quieter and more residential than touristy, which was nice after staying elsewhere previously. The breakfast was great and the attendant very attentive.

We used the car service to the airport for the same price as a taxi, which was great.

Overall, it was a good stay, but it's a bit expensive for the size and quality. I'm not sure I'd do it again.

Fabulous. Didn't much look forward to crowded Rome in July, but Villa Laetitia made it a wonderful, laid back experience. The location, away from the maddening crowds, was perfect, and the staff in the hotel .... each and every one a pleasure to get to know. Breakfast was delicious, our Garden Room was perfect and our private terrace overlooking the gardens allowed us to relax outside, listening to birdsong rather than traffic. A word of warning, though: - if you are still craving traditional luxury Villa Laetitia may not be for you. However, if you have replaced your need for luxury with a deep appreciation of exclusivity ............ then this is your future address in Rome.

Room Tip: Just make sure you get a room with a private terrace, then the rest will take care of itself.

This hotel is beautiful, very quiet as is set behind the main building. The room we had was great with a small kitchen with tea and coffee provided. All staff were wonderful, including the breakfast waiter who assisted in serving an unforgetable breakfast each morning. Best hotel I've stayed at.
There is even a computer area for printing etc as well as free wifi in the room.

I travel quiet a bit & can definitely say this is the nicest place I've ever stayed. The hotel itself is an old Roman building with the domed ceiling. The staff are the friendliest & most helpful people. We got caught in the rain one day & the cleaning lady insisted on washing & drying & ironing our clothes for us. She also gave us tea while we waiting in our fresh robes. You really cant put a price on service like that.
The hotel is 3 street from the Metro stop which you can walk in 10 minutes. The room themselves a fully equipt with a kitchette & terraced area. I really cant think of anyway of improving our stay
