I just returned from a 6 night stay at Relais Fontana di Trevi and have almost no complaints about it. It was immaculately clean and unbelievably quiet for a center city location. We were in Room 104 in the main building and, although a bit on the small side, it was quiet and, I thought, a great value given the location. The bathroom was among the larger I've seen in Italy and having a refrigerator and safe in the room is a nice added perk so we could safely store our passports and valuables as well as a supply of snacks and waters in the room.

I work in the hospitality industry and think some of the staff could be a bit more friendly to the guests (i.e. engage in small talk, thank you for your business, inquire about your stay), they were super fast to respond if we needed additional soaps, towels, etc. We had an issue with our shower the first night and it was repaired for us before we returned from dinner less than 2 hours later. We took advantage of the car service they offered for our arrival and it was prompt, clean, safe and a very courteous driver. It was a nice welcome after a long overnight flight rather than being worried about taking the Train to Termini then finding a cab early on a Sunday morning.

I would definitely rebook the next time we return to Rome - we could walk to everything and I mean EVERYTHING including St. Peter's on the other side of the river. Great restaurants are tucked away down some of the smaller side streets a few blocks from the Fountain and there are lots of interesting shops on the other side of Via del Corso.

Room Tip: choose an interior room - the rooms on Via Arcione are likely to be a bit noisy until late at night.

For location, the Relais Fontana Di Trevi Hotel is simply FANTASTIC! It is located just around the corner from one of the most popular tourist attraction in Rome - the Trevi Fountain. From the third floor bar/lounge and breakfast outdoor seating area, you can view the Trevi Fountain without even leaving the hotel - how is that for location! (see attached photos).

We found the entire hotel area - exterior, lobby, bar/lounge, breakfast room and our room - to be very clean and well maintained. We had a room that was located on the first (or ground) level and we found it to be absolutely quiet during our sleep at night - we slept very well on the comfortable beds.

For location, this hotel is in easy walking distance to many other popular tourist attractions. Being located next to the Trevi Fountain, this hotel is surrounded by many fine restaurants, gift shops and of course - delicious Gelato shops!

The check-in and check-out process were quick and easy. The front desk service was also friendly and quick to respond when we had requested for some toiletry items. The included Breakfast is absolutely first rate for service and quality of the breakfast items - cappuccino coffee is even included when requested. The ambiance of the breakfast area was excellent - very clean, comfortable and inviting (see attached photos).

The Relais Fontana Di Trevi Hotel is a great choice for touring Rome. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I've always chosen my hotels after tripadvisor's reviews and have always been more than pleased. I did the same even this time when I booked our room at Relais Fontana di Trevi, however this time I got really disapointed. The location is really good indeed, but the rooms are so small that me and my friend who stay there could barely move at the same time. I told the reception about this issue but he said since we picked a "basic" room the room was suppose to be that small. Don't get me wrong, I know it is Rome and the fact that the rooms are smaller than average. However, I am a frequent traveler and there is a standard for even basic rooms and this was way bellow the standard. Especially for that amount of money you can get so much better standard of rooms in that area. This wasn't the only problem, the room was so dark that next morning when we woke up at 9 am, we thought that it was still night time. Would definitely not stay here on my next Rome trip or recommend it to anyone that I know.

This place is an absolute scam. My husband and I booked the hotel through Kayak a couple weeks in advance of our arrival in September 2013. Somehow, we apparently booked the room for one person as opposed to two. When we arrived at the hotel, the check-in initially went fine: we got our room keys and went up to our room. About 10 minutes later, the receptionist calls our room and tells us that the room was only booked for one person, so we have to pay an additional 50 euros per night for the "additional person." We told the receptionist that we would call Kayak to find out what had happened with our reservation, but he wouldn't even let us stay in the room to make the call. We had to come back down to the lobby with our luggage and make the call from downstairs.

So we're sitting in the lobby trying to sort things out with Kayak and got nowhere (as a side note, don't ever book through Kayak either, they will provide you with no safety guarantee whatsoever). The (extremely rude) receptionist then basically told us that we would have to dish out the extra money or leave and lose the $1,000+ we had already paid for the reservation. My husband asked to speak to the manager, but he wouldn't even come out of his office to speak to us; my husband spoke with him on the lobby telephone, and could hear him talking in the room next door! He couldn't even face us as upset customers.

So we were left in the vulnerable position of either paying the extra money, or losing the money that we had already paid and try to find a different hotel. We paid the additional amount the hotel demanded and went back to our room. That night, we looked up the room rates on the hotel's own website to see if there was in fact a price difference for a one-person reservation as opposed to a two-person reservation. Lo and behold, the price was the exact same, even for a last minute reservation (see attached photos). We took screen shots on our cell phone of the prices so that we could take the issue up with the manager (again) the next day. When we spoke to the manager (this time in person), he basically told us that this was the hotel's policy, and didn't "believe" that we had found the identical rates online. He wouldn't even look us in the eyes. It was ultimately evident that we weren't going to be getting our money back, and decided to take the issue up with our credit card company and Kayak when we got back home, instead of letting this scam of an establishment ruin the rest of our vacation.

Please, save yourself the headache and don't book a room here. You will be scammed for extra money or will be left with no reservation. There is absolutely no sense of customer service here: we were customers who booked a reservation weeks in advance, and made an error in booking a room for one person as opposed to two. If the hotel did in fact have a "policy" of charging for extra people, then the price difference would have been reflected online on the hotel's own website. But when we looked at the prices for a same-day, last minute reservation, the prices were identical, irrespective of how many people were staying in the room. We had stayed in 5 different hotels on this trip, and this was by far the worst!

Just got back from my 1-day whirlwind trip to Rome where we stayed at the Relais Fontana Di Trevi. My fiancee flew in to see me just for the day as I had been working in Europe for a while, so it was essential that the hotel we stayed at was top-notch. I got us the attic room that had a magnificent, large terrace that afforded us a private view of the crowd and a sliver of the Trevi Fountain. We couldn't believe how large the room and bathroom were and the staff at the hotel were a fantastic resource. The location of the hotel is ideal as it's in the heart of gelato holes-in-the-wall and a delicious pizza restaurant called Nonnas - not to mention it's right next to the Trevi Fountain. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants a nice place to relax and enjoy the energy, history and architectural beauty in the heart of Rome.

Room Tip: The attic room has the terrace - I highly recommend it.

Relais Fontana Di Trevi is a wonderful, friendly hotel in a fantastic location. We loved this hotel, including our teenage son, who didn't even need to be attached to his tech whilst enjoying breakfast and evening drinks on the terrace over looking the Trevi Fountain. If you stay at this hotel you must make time to enjoy the hotel itself. We were lucky enough to get a table on the terrace for two mornings at breakfast and we enjoyed three evenings siting having pre-dinner drinks listening to the crash of the fountain and sitting way above the bustle of the crowds below. Even when we had to sit inside for breakfast one morning it is a lovely old room with wood panelled ceiling and a fabulous fireplace. We stayed in the Annex, a short walk from the main hotel, which was clearly explained to us at the time of booking. The service was excellent with our luggage being transferred to our rooms and collected and stored on our last day until we were ready to leave. The Annex was an ideal mixture of old and new. The room was bright and clean with comfortable beds and a really good power shower. Our son was happy with the free Wi-Fi access. We enjoyed the short stroll to the main hotel for breakfast and the excuse to visit the Trevi Fountain early in the day.
The hotel is in a really good location close to many of the main tourist attractions. It is a bustling lively area with plenty of places around to eat and a great atmosphere. We loved the vibrancy of the place with its mixture of shops and street stalls. Yes there is a lot of tourist nonsense but in between are some really interesting shops. We found an excellent leather shop where they cut down a belt to fit our son (I had been looking for one to fit him for ages). We walked to the Colosseum, Forum, Palatine Hill, Pantheon and Piazza Navona but it was also easy to pick up the bus to give our legs a rest to visit the Vatican and Castle Saint Angelo.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and all spoke excellent English although they switched to greeting us in Italian when we tired to practice the few words we had learnt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the buzz of being in the heart of Rome.

Room Tip: We chose the Annex as the rooms were a bit cheaper. We loved it but we didn't mind walking to t...
