“Nice Italian Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2011

The hotel has a great location, short walking distance to Trevi fountains, Spanish steps and Condutti for shopping.

Nice selection of food with good paranomic view at 7th floor.

My partner and I stayed In Hotel Romanico for a week in April. Their driver picked us up at the airport, the concierges immediately carried our luggage to the room which was immaculate, well decorated and had a small balcony, fridge, safe and hairdryer, the staff bent over backwards to be helpful and it was only a 10 minute walk from the Spanish Steps and 5 mins from Villa Borghese which was a lovely park to spend the day in. They had a really pleasant and helpful member of staff (Valentina) dedicated to helping guests plan and book their sightseeing. The barman, Valerio, kept us entertained nightly with his banter and in general all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and spoke good english. The only downside to our stay in Rome was we dont like continental breakfasts but we could hardly blame the hotel for that. Also do not order a taxi in Rome because they are wildly expensive, get a bus, its so much cheaper and they cover all areas. We would have no hesitation in recommending Hotel Romanico to anyone.

Room Tip: Ring Hotel Romanico direct and ask for offers.

I found this hotel to be nice for a few nights stay. We were in a good location in the city- about 15 min walk to trevi, and around the corner from the Spanish steps. We like to walk and we were able to walk to the colessium in under 20 minutes or so and all of the sites with the exception of having to hop on a bus to the vatican. The breakfast on the roof is nice it its included. Unfortunately ours did not have it included and there was a misunderstanding on our part at the desk. If its not included its 15 euro pp. I told the desk that I was upset by the fact that we really only had toast and were wrongly under the impression that it was included and the front desk gentleman was very nice about the situation and did not charge our room. He also let us into the gym which is very very small you would fair better to do some extra city walking instead. Overall I would stay here again. The room was nice, clean, and my fiance loved the shower!

We stayed here for a week in April. Great location, walking distance to Spanish Steps, Via Veneto and shopping but in a quiet area. Rooftop breakfast has standard European fare and a fabulous view, a great way to start the day. Rooms are small compared to US but typical for Europe. Clean and well kept. Valentina Riccardi at Guest Relations
was great in helping us arrange tours and local information. We traveled with 3 teens and could walk every evening for a gelato or shopping. This is a good hotel for families who are looking for a comfortable hotel with easy access to public transportation and local flavor.

As soon as we arrived, they gave told us we have been upgraded to a suite. We came in around midnight, and were happy to hear that. The staff was very friendly and professional. I must say that the reviews on trip advisor made me a little nervous, so I was expecting the worse, it was not bad at all.
The break fast itself was ordinary, (croissants, some cakes, cereal and fruits). Capaccino was excellent, they even made some designs on it. Coffee on roof top was fun. Staff was friendly and at times also entertained and engaged with my 5year old son.
The room was huge, biggest one we got in italy, had a jacuzzi. Rooms were kept clean. Since many folks had warned us against theft in general in italy, we did not leave any important belongings, such as money, passports etc, however from the looks of it, hotel staff was good and trust worthy.
The location was average. The closest metro stations were barberini, reppublicca and termini. Termini is about a 20 minute walk and barberini and republica are about 15 minutes. The bus stations are pretty close, we simply took 63, 52 and 910 to the station. Took a little while to get used to the bus routes, but figured it out eventually.
The hotel does give the impression that there is a charge for everything, which may make a budget traveler slightly nervous. The hotel in this era should provide free internet, and if nothing atleast a common PC for customers to access. (I had a bed and breakfast which I paid half the cost provide such a service, so would be hard to think a 7 story hotel would not do that).
The only other negative feedback I had was, the hotel can get a little noisy. Rome being the last leg on my trip, I was very accustomed to noise so not a biggy. The hotel is at an intersection, so buses and cars can get noisy. Also, air only works in summer and is off in off season like late march to mid april.

One more thing, there is a city tax you have to pay in cash at the end of your stay. The hotel will not tell you that when you check in (They should). But since I had read about it, I was prepared. I think its 5 euros a night, so if you have an early check out, make sure you have that cash so you don't have to worry about finding ATM when you have a train to catch in the next hour.

Overall, a pretty good hotel, good staff, average location, and potential to be awesome with minor tweaks. Don't be nervous, they are all right.

Room Tip: Request room higher for less noise.

This was our first trip to Rome to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and my wife selected the hotel online and booked it direct. The booking process was trouble free and all emails were helpful and friendly.
Our room was plenty big enough, bath and shower were great. The room cleanliness was excellent - well done to the housekeepers! The bed was firm and comfortable and we both slept well.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, reception staff and concierge went out of the way to help. The barman was amazing and was keen to practice his English to tell us about his love of football.
Breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was good, again all staff were helpful. It was a Continental Breakfast, but the website and booking process clearly stated that - after all, we were in Rome so we didn't expect Full English!
The hotel is in a great location, we enjoy walking so it was easy for us to get to the city centre each day. Just 5 minutes walk away is Via Vittorio Veneto which is full of restaurants and bars so we were spoilt for choice as to where to eat each night and we weren't disappointed - the food was great.
We booked our flights and airport transfer direct with Ryanair and the only slight hiccup was the late arrival of our transfer back to Ciampino Airport, but the reception staff were even happy to sort that out for us - a big thank you!
Overall, an amazing experience. Rome is a wonderful city and the Romanico Palace Hotel is a great base to see it from.
