“good choice for rome”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We stayed 3 nights and after reading reviews were a bit worried, but we had a lovely time. The hotel is within easy walking distance of all the attractions ( we never used any form of transport ). The room was very good- comfortable beds and pillows and the staff were first class . The only niggle may be the breakfast - it is continental ( which was fine for me ) so if you require a full english you will have to pay extra

Room Tip: We stayed in room 214- two double beds in a nice room, a bit of noise from air conditioning

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

We are pleased to see that you found our location really good and convenient -this is a re-occurring theme among all our reviews and it is one of the major benefit of our hotel and we are very glad that you spent a really lovely time in the eternal city.

Hotel Romanico Palace is located in a safe and quiet central area which has a lot of amenities and attractions, indeed without using any form of transportation you can reach in 10 minutes by walking Spanish steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese with the gardens and much more to see around.

Regarding the type of the room you that has been you assigned it was a comfortable Double Deluxe Room with comfortable beds with Jacuzzi amenities. We are happy to read that your room was suited to your needs and we are sure to share your comments about how clean you found your room with our housekeeping team – they do work very hard indeed to provide all our guests with the cleanest of hotels.

You may also be interested to learn that just this week we have started a full refurbishment of our guest rooms, especially the air conditioning system with new and powerful conditioning systems, very quiet, centralized with intelligent power ON and OFF. Included in this refurbishment is brand new guest room carpet and a much thicker underlay which we believe will soften any noise coming into your room via any doorways.

Furthermore we will be sure to pass your comments regarding our First Class Staff, very helpful and professional during all your stay as well you’re the others concerning the breakfast will be reported to our Chefs and Restaurant Staff – they always try to improve the service with the goal to obtain a sense of satisfaction from our guests. By the way our traditional Italian breakfast consist of Cappuccino and fresh croissants prepared with passion and dedication from our Chef even if we have as well a variety of mixed sandwiches and also scrambled eggs.

We would take pleasure in welcoming you back in the future so that you could experience again the lovely moments that you spent at Hotel Romanico Palace and in the Eternal city.

Best Regards
Andrea

I could not disagree more with the previous reviews and would urge anybody looking for a luxury experience in Rome to reconsider this dilapidated property.

First, the premise of my review: a 4 star hotel should bring with it the service of a five star with differences based on amenities offered only. Maybe that standard is too high, but for $200/ night I think that it is reasonable.

Upon check-in, the desk agent tried to ascertain if our breakfast was actually included. He needn't have bothered. Although the view from the 7th floor was notable, the quality of the breakfast was lacking. No hot food/ eggs were available. The croissants tasted store bought. At the bar in the lobby, the bartender actually charged two guests for hot water for their tea.

Carpets and dry wall greatly show signs of age: the emblems on the carpets, probably originally in white, are grayed with dirt. One elevator was out of service for our entire stay. Throughout our room, the walls were dirty. Lighting in the bathrooms is extremely poor. Tiny television, and extremely lacking dresser space for those looking to unpack. Air conditioner was so old that the coolant murmured like a running toilet all night long.

After our first night, the maid did not make the bed. No idea why--towels were changed. Again, just a very slipshod job.

The quality of the Internet connection was absolutely horrendous. We were repeatedly kicked off of the Internet while using it, and I was unable to download an app that was meant to be an audioguide for the Vatican due to the connection repeatedly timing out. Not surprisingly, the front desk offered no help to bolster the connection.

Last straw: I stayed in the room, to do some work while my significant other went to use the gym. The front desk refused to give us a second key (needed to keep lights on in room and access the gym) without paying five euros. When I decided to instead go workout, the hotel staff promptly proceeded to kick us out of the gym, which was in the basement of the hotel away from any guests (it's not like there were dumbells that I could even drop), because it was past the posted closing time.

Positives: nice beds, soft pillows, excellent water pressure in the shower.

BOTTOM LINE: Borderline rude/ incompetent service from a property well past it's prime-- the attitude of the hotel staff reflects the care with which they have maintained their property: outdated. I sincerely hope that this review will spur the hotel to carefully consider their management policies and be more courteous/ polite as well as improve their overall competence.

I have gone out of my way to be constructive and not rant about this terrible hotel experience. I will end with this: after that long day touring the Vatican museums (we actually walked through a second time so that we could see the Sistine Chapel again), we sat in a restaurant for two hours when we weren't even hungry. That's how much we wanted to avoid returning to our "four star" hotel.

Dear DTW,

Thank you for taking your time to share a review with us!

Not only positive comments but also negative ones are necessary for us in order to improve our daily service whose priority is always looking after our guests’ needs.

As you strongly asserted, the only difference between a 4 star and a 5 star hotel should be only based on amenities offered. Starting from our SPA "ROMAMOR" , an oasis for mind and body relax, with sauna, Turkish bath, multi-sensory shower and heated sunbeds and our gym with all the latest equipment proceeding with our Roof Garden on the 7th floor , at your disposal not only for breakfast but also for your business meeting and wedding ceremony, it is allowed to define our service as one of the best ones you’ve ever seen in Rome. In addition, our Customer Care Department looks after you whenever you need some suggestions about good Italian restaurants, shopping, guided tours and much more.

We never compromise on the things that matter. Our hotel carpets are tested and classified in accordance with the European standard EN 1307 for testing and classification of textile floor covering.

Our elegant carpets are made from an old company in Florence, which it has received numerous accolades for the ancient art manufacturing, the gray of our coat of arms blends in a sublime way with the Pompeian red, criticize the elegaza mean just want to defame and enough.

Of course, the quality of a hotel is also measured by how well you sleep and thus, by the quality of your bed: the place where you will spend most of your time during your stay in our hotel. We pay particular attention to the quality of the mattresses, the types of pillows available, and the different ways in which the beds can be made: either with traditional sheets or with a duvet in accordance with the north European custom.

My sincere apologies for the Wifi but unfortunately we were changing the telephone operator so the connection was pretty poor in the lobby, we decided to switch carriers because we want to offer the best services to our customers.

At today’s date, I am happy to say that speed and quality of wired and wireless Internet is in line to the high requirements that our business clientele would usually expect.

The fact that we give you only one key card is for the restriction of our key machine, if we create a double key, the first doesn’t work , however there is a porter 24h that is at your complete disposal for escort to your room. It’s not true that for the second key we ask 5 Euros, as explained is technically impossible.

Regarding our Continental breakfast, each detail is important for us. Fresh fruit, homemade buttery croissants and cakes freshly baked , a different selection of teas and infuses, hot American coffee and hot milk are continuously available in our buffet. For vegetarians, some delicious salads with tomatoes, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, corns, carrots are prepared by our FB Sergio Napoli with all his staff. Our Italian CAPPUCCINO/ESPRESSO can be offered you at any time without paying any extra fee.

As far as eggs are concerned, getting our guests used to Italian tradition just for a few days is what we would like to do during your stay. Nevertheless if you are not going to break your local tradition, scrambled eggs and tasty omelet filled with various and fresh ingredients can be ordered paying an extra charge.

We receive so many positive comments about the breakfast : only the location worth the agreed price, every day we receive requests of the most famous photographers who want to use our roof garden to make their shots, we are one of the few hotels in Rome with a large terrace overlooking the city where you can enjoy a splendid 360° landscape.

Talking of all kinds of problems you may face during your stay, it is advisable to contact directly our reception which is at your service h24 and assist you without hesitation. Competent technicians rush over to solve the inconvenient immediately.

As you can read from the previous reviews, the quality ,the competence and the courtesy of our staff is one of the most appreciated things : a dazzling smile is what we are going to guarantee our customer whenever he crosses the threshold of our hotel.

Most likely some of the positive aspects of our hotel got away from you so it will be an honor to have you as our guest in the future once again hoping with more tranquility to be able to appreciate also the positive aspects which are many of our beautiful Boutique Hotel.

Yours faithfully,
Alessandro

We stayed here for 3 nights in a triple room. The hotel was clean and our room was great. We were on the 5th floor.
We had a triple room and the third bed was just a hard mattress on the sofa which was more suitable for a child but we made it comfortable with extra pillows.
The hotel staff were great and very helpful in helping us plan our routes to the sites and also making restaurant reservations.
Breakfast was very basic (toast, croissants, melon, white bread, rolls, cheese and hams with coffee and tea) but on the 7th floor with a good view.
I ordered a transfer to the airport and it cost 60 euros instead of the usual 50 euros as it was at 04.30am, expensive but it was a mercedes!

The shower was great in the room too!

We would go back there without a doubt, great value for money!

A very enjoyable stay!

Dear Sarah,

Thank you so much for your kind words!

It was a pleasure to have you as our guests and we are so happy to read your enthusiastic review.

I am thrilled you enjoyed our room, all furnished in style, with high quality furniture; the special care taken for an embellished finish make them exclusive. The headboards, placed on shiny ivory-marble floors are painted by hand.

To be a level structure, all spaces must be elegant and functional, from the living room to the bathroom.

Daily showers with Jacuzzi can help restore your energy, relax overused muscles after a pleasant walking in the city center and refocus a harried attitude. Let the water from a Jacuzzi shower wash over you and see what a difference it can make in your day.

Our triple rooms are composed of a double bed plus a sofa bed, or two single beds plus a sofa bed, the mattress of the latter is anatomic and orthopedics, it offers excellent support and fully adapts to the shape of your entire body, most of the times the softness is not dictated by the quality.

For the family we are also glad to propose our connecting room, equipped with every comfort and shared with an interior door. The pleasure of being able to have met the family, preserving your privacy.

We always encourage our guests to review our room types on the Romanico website http://www.hotelromanico.com/en/camere.php prior to booking with us as well as contacting them via e-mail, this will ensure they receive their preferred room type and view.

Our new website is coming soon!

I loved your comment about our staff “great and very helpful ”. Our entire service philosophy revolves around delivering unparalleled personalized service experiences where no detail is too small and it is very encouraging when our guests comment so positively on their time with us.

According to the length of the stay, our Concierge Noemi and Giulio are able to schedule your days arranging every kind of tour and giving you the best suggestion in order to make you live an unforgettable Roman experience.

Transportation is provided by our private car service. The driver will meet you at your gate of arrival holding a card with your name on it. Secure a fixed price for your trip transportation to and from the airport and take advantage of this great special offer.

Our valued guests need not worry about the daunting task of negotiating public transport for the first time here in the Italian capital, reserving our service you have only two price ranges (communicated in advance).

Your feedback is appreciated and is incredibly motivating for us as a team, thank you again.

We are very happy that you plan on returning to us and if we can ever assist in any way please do not hesitate to contact us on info@hotelromanico.com, we look forward to welcoming you back!

Warm regards
Alessandro

Stayed at the Romanico for the first two days of our tour. Good location being between the via Veneto and close to the Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain. We were so exhausted on arrival, and checkin was'nt till 3pm, we couldn't do either one at that time.
Our room was very small with the shower from hades! Were not impressed with the breakfast here-more continental breakfast than buffet.
We did have a dinner at a restaurant directly across from the Colisseum where the view was awesome but food not great!
Went to the Vatican, Sistine chapel, and Colisseum which was awesome, Also went to the Trevi fountain and other piazzas where there was shopping, artists painting portraits, and tons of restaurants. Sightseeing of the Roman Forum, Pantheon, Colisseum, St Peters Basilica and much more was great.
Take pictures at night of Rome as it really is beautiful.
Enjoy Italy as we did.

Dearest Linda and John,

Thank you for posting a review of your recent stay and telling others about your Romanico experience, your feedback is critical in our quest for continual improvement and enhancement of our service and facilities.

I am thrilled to read that you enjoyed our location in the area called Ludovisi, the hotel is a few minutes away from main sites of interests of Rome: Spanish steps (10 minutes), Trevi Fountain (10 minutes), the gardens of Villa Borghese (5 minutes). This district is very quiet, very safe, enjoyable in every hour of the day.

I am sorry that you found your room size to be disappointing, we do have over 5 different room categories which vary significantly in size and layout and I am very confident we have a room that will tick both the space and value box for all of our guests.

For this reason wealways recommend to book a room directly from our official website, where the accommodation, the choice of rooms are guaranteed by our word and not by various intermediaries.

However, during the check-in time we offer to every guest the change to upgrade the original reservation for a Junior Suite with round hydro massage bathtub, Luxury room with panoramic view, deluxe room large and very comfortable.

The room will be available on the day of arrival from 2:00 p.m., in case of early arrival If the room will not be ready yet, you may leave your luggage in our deposit (free of charge) and start visiting the City.

Reading the other reviews all our guests are impressed with the breakfast, they are delighted of our panoramic roof garden, where we are glad to offer a rich buffet breakfast of sweets and pastries as well as healthy options and for the more international guests, selection of the finest Italian cured hams and salamis. Italian coffee needs no introduction, but remember to ask for an Americano if you're more partial to a large cup of filter.

Romanico Palace with the health of our guests in mind, and taking into account the diversity of our international guests, we’re proud to offer an extensive menu also for the intolerant to gluten.

Please do not hesitate to contact us on info@hotelromanico.com prior to your next visit, we would be more than happy to go through all our different room categories and personally help you to book the perfect fit for your next visit.

I look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you back to the Romanico Palace!

Best wishes
Alessandro

Best advice I've ever been given by the hotel manager who was absolutely charming 'go get lost in Rome' he was right we found lovely restaurants, quaint little cobbled streets. It was a wonderful visit.

I recently stayed here during the first 2 nights of my tour with Insight Vacations and I had a great time.

The hotel is charming and historic and in a great location -- 5 minutes walk from the fashionable Via Veneto and maybe 15 minutes from the Spanish Steps. Plenty of cafes and shops nearby and it's in a great neighborhood as well (I had a splendid walk every morning and it was just lovely).

The breakfast is served on the top floor which overlooks the entire city and is very impressive. The breakfast was delicious and served buffet style, except for the eggs and bacon, which were served hot to order. If you want to work up an appetite then you can opt to walk up to the top (7th) floor for breakfast instead of taking the elevator :) There's a balcony that's accessible from the breakfast area where you can take great pictures of the entire city.

The decor was flamboyantly Italian but in a cute way. Lots of golds and reds and typical renaissance vibes. I found it rather charming. The rooms were on the small side, but after all it is a historic hotel in the city center. It's not a behemoth 5000 room Las Vegas hotel.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful -- all spoke English. And the bartenders were superb! They had great espresso, beer, wine and cocktails and all at decent prices.

It was a great start to a great trip!

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, then ask politely. I forgot to ask and got a view of a small courtya...

Dear Ibos,

thank you so much for choosing Hotel Romanico Palace and for your wonderful review!

We are glad to have satisfied your expectations, we love to take care of our guests, working hard every day to give top quality service with a touch of real Italian style, which cannot be standardized.

You enjoyed and come in Rome with a group, we are preparing special offers just for those who want to do pre or post tour, you can see him through our new website which will be online very soon.

We are so pleased to know you were happily impressed by the décor, the charm and atmosphere cozy and relaxed of our Hotel and its panoramic roof garden where breakfast is served.
Our management firmly believe that when a customer arrives at the hotel must be able to find everything you need, our commitment is to make great every moment of the day: the sweet awakening in the morning, the evening aperitif or after dinner.

The Poeticus Bar is open 24 h, the relaxing atmosphere and the inspiration of our barman Angelo with his aperitifs and cocktails make our local a comfortable place, ideal in every moment of the day.
The menu would envy to the best wine-cellar in Italy, in addition we have also a wide choice of all other drinks, these a great price compared to the tourist traps that there are in the city center.

Our staff can’t wait to see you again for another memorable experience in the eternal city.. Rome in autumn is simply magic.!!!

This is a lovely hotel, very charming. The bed was not as comfortable as most places, but the room was large and clean. The concierge, Guilio (sp), was great! He could not have been any kinder or more helpful. The breakfast served on the rooftop garden was outstanding. The elevators are tiny, so you need to allow extra time to get up and down, especially with luggage. The staff was friendly and willing to assist in any way. I'm not sure about the location; it seemed removed from many of the things we wanted to see, but Rome is a huge city. All in all, it was a wonderful place to spend a few nights.

Dear Sarasota,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your recent experience here at Romanico Palace Hotel.

I am delighted to read you thought us to be a “lovely and very charming hotel”, we are always looking to improve and enhance our service and facilities and your feedback is crucial to making this a reality.

Our SUPER concierge Giulio (like all the team of the Hotel) try always his best to help all the clients to discover Rome and to enjoy their stay.

We take great pride in providing the highest level of service to our guests, the staff is always delighted to recommend restaurants or places to visit in Rome.

It is very important for us that our guests enjoy their stay as much as possible, we therefore pay a lot of attention to every single detail in our hotel: music, fragrance, welcoming note.

Breakfast is our greatest pride for the quality of food but also for the location: every day we receive requests of the most famous photographers who want to use our roof garden to make their shots, we are one of the few hotels in Rome with a large terrace overlooking the city where you can enjoy a splendid 360° landscape.

Our buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of products: croissants (directly from the best roman pastry), bakery products, freshly baked bread, yogurt, cereals and fruits, biologic jam.

It is served from 07:00 to 10:00 am and for all guest that leave the Hotel before of these hours, we are glad to offer the possibility to request a take away breakfast, there isn’t additional costs.

I am sorry that you experienced a few maintenance issues along with what sounds like an abnormally long wait of for the elevator. We have 2 elevators for guest use, which is normally sufficient for guest traffic. the fact that the elevators are not very large is because the hotel occupies an historical building edified by one of the most famous Italian architects in the world.

You wrote a wise thing “ROME IS HUGHE CITY” , we help to facilitate the discovery: we are most certainly blessed when it comes to location. Hotel Romanico Palace is one of THE most unique spots in central Rome, it is, as you mentioned, it is close to the main sites of interests: Spanish steps (10 minutes), Trevi Fountain (10 minutes), the gardens of Villa Borghese (5 minutes).

In addition to walking, you have the possibility to take subway, the main bus lines.

The most important factor is the district where we are: quiet, very safe, enjoyable in every hour of the day, thanks to the numerous embassies around this area.

According to the length of the stay, our front-desk staff and our concierge are able to schedule your days arranging every kind of tour and giving you the best suggestion in order to make you live an unforgettable Roman experience.

It was a pleasure to have you with us and I hope to welcome you back very soon!

Best regards
